Chapter 220: Negligence

“I TALKED with my public defense lawyer earlier before you got here…” Lucas told August as his voice went lower.

Lucas roamed his eyes around, being careful that no one would eavesdrop on their conversation.

“He told me that all the evidence in court was pointing to me. After a few more days, they will declare me as the prime suspect and not a potential suspect.”

August heaved a sigh as he felt his nerves heating up because of anger.

He looked away so that he could regain his composure—Because seeing Lucas, an innocent person, locked up inside a cell makes him feel things that he should not entertain.

Anger. Frustration. Rage.

Those three combined emotions would be dangerous for August if he let them succumb to his body.

However, August expected it all—That the police will wrap up the case as fast as they could to avoid more investigations.

Or Francis calls it a mess.

After a few seconds, as August already managed to control his emotions again, he brought his gaze back to Lucas.
