Ryan walked out of the hospital briskly, he hopped into a taxi and told the cab driver his address. Thoughts ran through his mind as the car scurried through the city.
He had deliberately kept the truth about his tumor from his wife, fearing the burden it would place on her. He wondered what her reaction would be as the cab pulled up at his house. As he stood in front of his house he realized something. All his injuries were healed! The cuts and bruises were almost not visible anymore and the pain was gone. "The healing power that voice said I now possessed? Does that explain why I don't feel the pain from my Lung cancer anymore?" He muttered as he examined his body. He stood on the porch of his door and clenched his fists not afraid of his Lung cancer anymore, he would confirm later if it had truly gone. He smiled, eager to see the look of surprise and relief on his wife's face when he told her everything that happened and how his Lung cancer was gone. With a deep breath, Ryan opened the door, and walked in. He scanned the room and saw his wife was sitting there on the couch with a cold expression plastered on her face. When she saw Ryan come in, she threw a stack of papers on the table in front of her. Ryan stopped in his track as he raised his eyebrows with suprise. He picked up the first paper, it was his medical certification saying he had a Lung cancer. The second— "What's this?" Ryan asked with his eyes fixed on the paper. "Read it!" His wife snapped as she crossed her legs and fired him a cold gaze. He picked up the papers and read through it and his jaw dropped with shock, "A divorce agreement?" He frowned as he turned to look at her. "What is this for?" He struggled to comprehend the situation, his mind reeling shock."What do you think it is?" She replied sarcastically as she picked up a glass of wine and placed it on her lips. She sipped the wine slowly and uncrossed her legs. His wife's next words cut deep, "You made no money before, and now you have a tumor. My life would be ruined. I can't be with you anymore. Just sign the divorce." She scoffed. Ryan stood there, a mix of disbelief, sadness as it all dawned on him, she didn't love him anymore. Grasping for some semblance of understanding, he decided to ask a question. To him it was a last attempt at salvaging some part of their relationship. "If I didn't have this tumor now, would you still want a divorce?" He looked at her with hope in his eyes. The mysterious healing abilities he suddenly possessed would not really make sense to anyone if he told them. But he was broken that he she was going to leave him because of his Lung cancer. He wanted to understand the reason she was leaving him. If it was because of Lung cancer, then he would tell her right now. She paused for a moment and looked at him incredulously while he wondered what her reply would be. She dangled the cup between her fingers and her lips curved up into a smile of mockery. "You think you can deceive me?" She let out a reel of laughter ignoring his question. "I'm fed up with your talk of hope and better days when all you ever do is bring bad luck!" She slammed the glass cup on the table. "Just look at a beautiful and high class woman like me stooping so low to be wife to a nobody like you!" She yelled as she turned around to look at the living room. Ryan stood there and kept silent as he watched her drama. "Turning me to a stay at home house wife?" She scoffed as she scanned the living room that was already a mess as usual. Littered with remnant of snacks and empty cans. "You still haven't answered my question." Ryan stood there keeping his gaze fixed on her. "Your question?" She scoffed before pausing for a moment as she wondered where he was heading to. "You aren't saying you don't have the tumor anymore?" Her eyebrows furrowed. She waved her hands in dismissal, "No it's a bluff. You're trying to lie. It's impossible for you to recover so soon," she retorted, her voice dripping with cynicism. She kept on berating him, "You're poor and have to spend so much money on your disease." She stood up and walked towards him with an expression of scorn and disgust on her pretty face. "We shouldn't do this, we have come a long way!" Ryan was loosing his cool as he clenched his fists. She stopped just a few centimeters from him and looked up at him. "I don't love you anymore and I want nothing to do with you anymore." She spoke to his face as she stood few heads below him. "Also I won't let you use a single penny of our money for your treatment before we divorce." She frowned as she clenched her teeth. Ryan just stood there and watched her with a blank expression. Ryan's emotions swirled chaotically – sadness, anger, and disappointment surged through him as he faced his wife."You were broke before but now you're also sick? What will become of me if i stay with a good for nothing?" shook her head in disgust."You promised to stay with me no matter what. So why do you want to leave at this point?" Ryan fired her a cold stare as he fiddled with the paper. He shook his head there was nothing left to salvage and without any hesitation, he took the pen and signed the divorce agreement. As he put the pen down he felt a mix of relief and sorrow washed over him. "There it is signed." He pushed the paper towards her.Avery walked into the hospital reception and was surprised to see her uncle. He was at the front desk, engaged with the nurse and paperwork. Wasn't he supposed to be with the injured man? She wondered. "How is he?" She asked when she got close enough. Her uncle turned to look at her after signing the ledger in front of him."Oh Avery I have covered his hospital bill so you won't have to worry about that." He glanced at her hands holding a lunch bag. "About this—" Just as he was about to speak she interrupted him. "Uhm… where is he?" Avery asked looking over uncle Mateo's shoulders while holding a lunch bag. "I'll go give him the food I bought.""He is gone already," Uncle Mateo walked towards her, "You were not hurt at a right?" He furrowed his brows as he observed her closely. "Gone? Where did he go to?" Avery asked with confusion on her face. "He isn't dead right?" Her heart began to suddenly race with fear. "What happened to him?" The lunch bag fell from her hands without her
There was no time to waste. The car was making crackling noises and it was about to explode. He threw the door to the side and dashed into the car through the black smoke. "Mom!" He heard the girl call out from within and he followed her voice to the back seat. Using his strength he raised the back seat that had her trapped and brought out of the car in his arms. "Keira," The woman rushed towards Ryan as she saw him jump out of the car with her daughter in his arms. "My Keira," Tears streamed down her eyes when she saw her daughter was still alive. "Gasoline?" Ryan could smell the gasoline in the air. He looked back at the car and noticed the car dripping with gasoline and he was alarmed. The car was about to explode, "Run!" He said as he grabbed the woman's hand and pulled her away from the car with her daughter in his arms. The car started burning and after just getting about 30 feets from the car, it exploded into flames. The metal of the car made crackling sounds as it got b
The ambulance's sirens wailed distantly, growing louder as it approached Ryan who knelt beside the little girl. The woman's face lit up in relief as she saw the ambulance pull up beside them. If the paramedics had come some minutes later he would have already healed her up without raising any suspicions. 'I'm just 50% in!' he frowned a little as he watched the paramedics approach them. "Help! My daughter!" She held onto her daughter's hands as she watched emergency personnel bolt out of the emergency van with a stretcher. The med personnel rushed to the little girl's side, lifting her gently to the stretcher before scurrying back to the emergency van. Ryan watched one of the med personnel, a young man dressed in white apparel, approach him, "Thank you for giving her CPR, we will take it from here." The young man said, beaming him with a polite smile as he stretched out his hand for a handshake. His eyes suddenly fell on the name tag realizing the young man in front of him was act
The words Mrs. Sonya like a tidal wave, leaving her reeling with shock. Then she lunged at the doctor grabbing the collar of his shirt. "I'll do anything, just please save my daughter," she pleaded with the doctor, her voice thick with desperation. "I was taking her for a heart surgery when the accident happened and it all got worse," she sobbed uncontrollably as she pulled the collar of the helpless doctor who was now almost choking. "Ma'am…" He tried speaking but her hold was strong. "You have to…" Doc Phil tried to be gentle with her, gently removing her firm grasp on his collar but he was choking. "Mrs… Sonya" Ryan felt pain course through his body as he watched her, losing one own daughter the pain was too much to bear. He walked towards the woman and held her hands. "Let him speak ma'am." He nodded. Doc Phil coughed as he adjusted his finally free collar, "Your daughter needs a heart transplant urgently…" "I'm ready to pay anything!" Mrs Sonya interrupted him but he was n
Mrs Sonya reached into her purse with a steady hand, pulling out her credit card but Alexis watched with a sneer, his eyes gleaming with malice. "Really, Sonya? Do you think I haven't thought of that?" he taunted, stepping closer, his voice dripping with condescension."I'm already in possession of all your wealth and you're not allowed to use any funds at all. Not for the surgery, not for anything. You should've known better than to cross me." His lips curled into an evil smile. Mrs. Sonya's face darkened and contorted into a frown. She had just realized that she had been backed to a corner. She glared at him, her grip on the card tightening. "How dare you, Alexis? This is my daughter's life we're talking about!" she spat out, her voice laced with fury and despair laced with a tone of helplessness. "You've sunk lower than I ever thought possible. To use an innocent child's life as leverage... What happened to you?" She yelled at him. "Oh, spare me the righteous indignation," Alexi
Alexis's laughter echoed through the tense atmosphere, a harsh sound that sought to undermine the sliver of hope Ryan had offered. "Delusional, aren't you?" he sneered, his eyes gleaming with derision. "You really think you can just wave a magic wand and cure her? The girl needs a heart transplant, there's no other way around it." He said laughing out loud."As one of the best doctors in the country, my suggestion is the only way to save your daughter ma'am, you shouldn't believe this make shift nobody who claims to be a healer." The head doctor frowned as he glared at Ryan. Ryan turned to Mrs Sonya and bowed slighty, "Your daughter is in the late stages of congenital heart disease but if I'm given the time I can cure her." "What time? She is already dying and there is nothing else you can do than to take the offer young master here has presented." Mrs Sonya thought for a moment, although she had been marveled by the capabilities of Ryan, this was her daughter's life they were talk
He turned to Mrs Sonya and forced a smile to hide the tension in his heart. He was very sure that she could hold on for the next two weeks before anything bad would happen. But then he needed over Nine hundred appreciative points which means he had to do a good deed for over Nine hundred people in order to unlock the next level before he can be able to heal her and that was a herculean task. "Nine hundred and ninety eight appreciation points in two weeks! Can I really do that?" He questioned himself for a moment. But there was no option! He had to do it! "Just give me two weeks," he said reassuringly to Mrs Sonya who was seated beside her daughter on the bed. Caressing her daughter's hands and forehead. After a bit of small talk visiting hours was over so they silently left the ward and walked out of the hospital. As they stepped outside the hospital, two black Rolls Royce cars were parked outside with a few men in black suits.Mrs Sonya turned to Ryan. "Where do you stay Ryan?"
The walk to the ward was tense, each step heavy with anticipation and the burden of the unknown. Upon entering the ward, the nurse left them alone, closing the door softly behind her.Ryan approached the little girl's bedside with a reverence, as if stepping into a sacred space. Mrs. Sonya watched him, her heart caught between hope and fear. The little girl lay pale and still. Ryan stood over her, his gaze intense as he observed her condition. Then, almost reverently, he fumbled with his ring. His fingers delicately manipulated the ring, activating it with a concentration that seemed to draw upon his very will.Closing his eyes, Ryan focused on the little girl. [Scan skill activated] The familiar tone that only he could hear rang in his head. Mrs. Sonya rushed beside her daughter and held her little hands, her eyes had a glint of hope. Ryan focused on the healing energy he believed he could channel, Ryan closed his eyes and concentrated deeply. The room fell into a profound silen
