Chapter 10: The Joker I I

Cold sweat broke out on Jason's forehead as he glanced up from the POS system’s screen. What the fuck was happening?

“Transfer failed? What do they mean 'transfer failed’?” He asks the director, wide eyed, while Hudson triumphantly went to tell his fans what had happened.

The director arched an eyebrow, as if to say he wasn't surprised. “Young man, you don't have the money in your bank account. How can you possibly transfer such a large amount of money when you don't have it?”

The director who looked annoyed with Jason shoved the black card back into Jason's hanging hand, his face red with anger. "You dare to waste my time, boy, stand us all out here to play your fantasy games."

Hudson's gloating voice reached Jason's ears. “Damn fucker doesn't have a dime. He's finally gone full crazy!”

Jason ran his bruised hands over his face in disbelief. “No…no, something's wrong. It's supposed to pay, I know.”

“Conniving bastard. You're a low life, Jason, accept your true place in life and pull off your clothes and run!” Hudson growled, his hands pointing inside the school, towards the school's football field.

Something occurred to Jason. He'd never used his card and it made sense that there would be a transaction limit, for now. He hadn't asked what it was though.

He pointed to the machine. “Try it again. This time in parts.” He handed the card back to the Director, using his sleeve to wipe the sweat from his forehead.

The director shook his head, beedy eyes enraged. "Look here, you little riffraff, you can't continue to try and fool us. You simply do not have the money!"

"No, just try one more time. Split it into smaller parts and try again, Sir." Jason insisted. There was no way he was going to run around naked when they hadn't tried this again.

Hudson rushed to them, pressing in to see what was happening himself.

“You really wish you had all that money, boy.” Hudson snickered.

With no one believing it would go through, the director split the full amount into four equal parts and started the transfer.

The first transaction went through, stunning everyone, including the director into a mindless stupor.

“What in the world is going on?” The director muttered, quickly running the next one. His eyes were shining with dollar signs.

The second one and the third all went through successfully, without a single glitch.

Jason relaxed then, certain that he had won. Finally, he'd pulled one over Hudson.

Hudson cursed, “What the fuck is going on? What fuckery is this?”

Jason stood back, slipping his hands inside his pockets.

“Holy mother of God!” The director exclaimed. “It worked!”

The crowd dissolved into an uproar as their fellow college kids crowded closer to see for themselves.

The director looked shocked to his bones and Hudson didn't look much better. He recovered faster than anyone.

Hudson sneered at Jason, “This can't be freaking possible. This…this low life…scum…doesn't have anything to his name! How the fuck did he pull that?!”

Jason sucked in air through his teeth. “How it worked is none of your business, Daddy's boy. The deal was if I sent 10 times the amount your daddy used to pay off the school and blind them to..,” he pointed at Hudson. “your raving madness and cruelty, you'd be expelled and barred from the school premises, and you'd run three fucking laps around the football field, naked.”

Hudson blanched.

Jason smirked. “Go on ahead and lose those fancy, designer pants, Hudson. Show us your pampered ass.”

Someone snorted with laughter in the crowd and then stopped, as if remembering that they were supposed to be on Hudson's side and Jason was their common enemy.

Hudson and Jason stared at each other in a standoff as the air thickened around them with tension and more than a little nervousness.

Everywhere went silent again and Jason finally looked at the crowd, looking at his fellow course mates and schoolmates in the eyes as he challenged them.

“You were all here when we made the bet. Anyone who lost would first off, run around naked. Wasn't that what you all wanted?! A show?!”

It was fast becoming obvious they'd all expected him to lose.

“Like I'd shoot myself in the foot and agree to that if I knew for damn sure I didn't have the money.” Jason muttered to himself.

All eyes were on Hudson as he swallowed, sweat mixing with the dried blood on his face and running down his cheeks to his neck.

Hudson gestured to the director. “Take this thief out of here. He stole the money! He had to have stolen it!”

Jason faced the director who looked stressed the fuck out. His blue shirt was soaked through as the sun beat down on them, and his tie stuck to him. “Expel Hudson. Like you promised you'd do.”

The director looked chagrined. “I…I can't just expel the mayor's son!”

“So what? You make promises and then you very easily discard them? If it had been me, you wouldn't waste any time throwing me out!”

“Yes, because you are not the mayor's son!”

Jason scoffed, watching them all with narrowed eyes. They'd always had so much fun belittling and mocking him. It felt so good to finally make them uncomfortable, especially in their own fucking skin.

The director moved to Hudson, hands outstretched apologetically, like he was trying to calm Hudson down. “Sir? Why don't you go home for today, and we'll see the means Jason used to get this money.”

Hudson's face was like cow's shit as he frowned mutinously.

The director placed a hand on Hudsons shoulder. “We will rectify this, trust me.”

Jason couldn't believe their unjust asses. Hudson moved to go to his car parked behind Mia and Jason blocked his path, staring down at him with murder in his eyes.

“I will not let you walk out of here without doing the two things you said you would do if you lost.”

He stood up to Hudson, ready to fight him again.

“Take off your clothes, Hudson, and start running.”
