Chapter 15: Battered Away

The man's brows raised at that.

He looked at Jason, not bothering to hide the fact that he was sizing him up. His eyes wandered from the cheap jacket Jason was wearing to the cheaper sneakers he was also wearing.

He scoffed at Jason before asking him.

"And if I tell you how much?"

"I'll pay you in full." Jason replied, barely holding back.

"You? You can't even buy yourself decent shoes and you want to pay off a debt." The man replied with a scoff.

"I can pay you. I assure you." Jason said, ignoring the insult.

"Please, don't pay him any attention. Does he look like someone that has a job? He doesn't have the means to pay you. Ignore him." His grandfather told the man pulling his wife close to his side.

He dabbed away the blood dripping down her face with a handkerchief he took out of his pocket.

"Jason get back inside and let me take care of this. You are only a child. You don't know what you are talking about." He scolded Jason and tried to pull him away and push him inside but Jaso
