Dorian's eyes widened, but he smiled. "That's wonderful news! Maybe you could be our mediator."

Zane shook his head, his face pale. "No, I'm a total reject. They'll never accept me, I'm a rogue now."

He took a deep breath, his voice shaking.

"They sent me away, and I was so...so angry and so hurt that I did the one thing I thought I could do to show them I was still valuable. I came after Dean so I could take his place, because I had something to prove. If I made myself look like the victim, I could get the post and show the Lupines what I'm made of." Zane finished, his eyes wide and fearful.
