Chapter 23: Into the underworld

Elliott felt a sudden surge of energy, and he found himself surrounded by a brilliant light.

Elliott was surrounded by light. He could hear Spike yell "We're here!" With excitement and fear in his voice.

The lights vanished and they screamed as they hurtled towards the ground.

The dragon crashed into the ground, sending Elliott and Spike flying. They rolled across the dirt, coughing and gasping for breath.

The impact of the dragon's fall caused the cave to tremble and crack. Sharp crystals of stalactites began to fall from the ceiling, raining down like deadly spears.

"No!" Elliott cried out, his heart racing.

Spike's powers swirled around them like a tornado, deflecting the sharp crystals away from their bodies. They tumbled harmlessly to the ground, their deadly points blunted by Spike's invisible force. The two of them lay panting on the ground, covered in dust and sweat. But they were alive, and they had each other. For the moment, that was all that mattered.

"I guess that's why t
