He turned to look at the man, and he concluded within him that the reason why the secret passage door was large was because of this man’s size and not because of the other workers. He was bulky and well built and he had a stoic expression on his face, Owen knew from that look that he wasn’t welcome, but he choose not to be intimidated. He was middle aged and his hair was a mixture of black and grey and he was dressed in a white tuxedo shirt coupled with a fine black denim jean and a casual slipper. Owen observed him for a while as different scenes filled his mind as he thought of what would happen if things go south. His guards would not make it on time and before he would be able to raise any alarm, he would be long dead. He knew he was on unsteady grounds so he had to move cautiously. “I asked a question, young
CHAPTER THIRTY ONE Owen was led out of the room by the guards and as he was overjoyed and he whistled away in excitement. Although he had been positive that James would accept his proposal, he had been skeptical when the man asked him that question but it seemed like the heavens were in his side. Everything worked out in his favour and he had succeeded in attaining the shares. The guards led him through the hallway they they had arrived in the first place and the door did not seem to reduce the curiosity it gave him in the first place. He looked at the door with The door seemed . They led him to the sitting room where they had taken him from in the first place and they left him there to continue on his own. Owen had just walked into the sitting room and he saw Veeda walk out of one of the rooms at the corner and he let his eyes wander in search of Rina, his eyes caught sight of her as she sat on one of the chairs, her eyes on her phone. It seemed like she had something imp
CHAPTER THIRTY TWO Tamara was in her office as she observed the whole thing. She had every reason to believe that Owen had a hand in all this but she just couldn't pinpoint why. If he had wanted to punish his wife's family, he wouldn't have given allowed them into the deal in the first place so why would he go through all this stress when he could have cut the whole thing short. Anyways, that was Tamara's cross to carry, it was none of her business and she could only worry about herself. Her business was in the verge of collapsing and she knew that the only way to come out of this would be to take a loan. But she knew that whoever would be willing to give her a loan right now would want her to use her Company as a collateral and she wasn't willing to put get Company on the line. She thought for a while before deciding that her only option at the moment would be to have Owen give her. She picked up her phone and called his office as this was official business and she could
CHAPTER THIRTY THREE Owen had just left James' house, his security guards had been annoyed by the time he wasted there but they couldn't make any objections. He could clearly see the annoyance on their faces but since none of them said a word, he just walked to the car while one of the men opened the door and he got in, closing the door after him. The rest also stepped into their various cars, taking their positions before they started their journey. Maria had called him about three times while he was there and although he had assured her that everything was fine, he knew she would be dead worried. The car was quiet and Owen knew that the guards were not too happy so he decided to make it up to them on their way home. James's home seemed to be a little far from the city and they drove for a while before they saw a bar in the middle of a street. “Pull up” he said and he could see the way the driver's face scrunched up in annoyance. He slowed down before pulling up at the road
CHAPTER THIRTY FOUROwen squinted his eyes as the bright rays of the sun shone directly at his eyes. He opened his eyes in one swift movement and took a deep breath before getting on his feet. He tried yo get up from the couch but he found it hard to. His whole body hurt and he felt weak, it felt as if he had undergone some hard labour and he could only massage his shoulders. He didn't even know which one he hated most at the moment. The headache that was wracking his temples at the moment or the weakness he felt in all the parts of his body. He massaged his aching temples as he tried to recall what had happened the night before. He remembered going into the bar but he couldn't remember coming out. He didn't even know how he got home but he knew that it would have been the work if the guards. He had said he wouldn't drink much but as soon as he tasted the drink, the weight of all his problems dawned on him and he let himself fall in the moment. He stood up from the couch a
CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE Nb: the former chapter had a typographical error, it was actually talking about Mia( Owen's maid) and not Maria(Kate's mother) sorry for the error Owen was in his office, his pen in his mouth as he thought about what Mia had said earlier. He had not thought about it the probability, thanks to his former marriage which was a total disaster. His marriage with Kate had been every man's wish at the beginning but after he lost his wealth, the whole successful marriage facade went down the hill. Kate's mother Maria had tried her every best to come in between then and after many failed attempts, she had succeeded in poisoning Kate's mind. And Kate had divorced him in order to get married to Chris McLean, a worker in his company now. “Fate” he mused and chuckled. He had thought about what Mia had said and he was currently still thinking about it. Maybe she was right, maybe it was high time he looked for a partner seeing as Kate has moved on already and in no time, sh
CHAPTER THIRTY SIX Tamara had remained silent after Owen's question and Owen was getting impatient with her lack of speech but he remained calm. He knew what she was trying to do, she was trying to emotionally blackmail him into agreeing to her terms and giving in to her needs. “I won't actually call it a loan yuuno, just a little favor from one family member to the other. You are well aware that my company's bankruptcy would also put your own company in trouble.” Owen scowled visibly, she wanted help but instead of her begging or asking for it, she was trying to blackmail him into helping her. Tamara was a sly wretch and that was why she had always been the pillar of the family. She had all the traits of a businesswoman, she was wise, cold and greedy. He had always known that he would have a hard time dealing with her. Maria was not too intelligent and he might admit that she had the brain of a fish. But Tamara was the direct opposite of Maria, she was very intelligent and
CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN “And what property would you have me give you as collateral” Tamara asked Owen “I don't know, what property of yours do you think would be worth the amount you are asking for…” Owen paused in his tracks “How much are we even talking about here?” “Well, I'll say it's a little token in comparison to this empire you own. Let me say about thirty million dollars” Tamara said and Owen scoffed “Thirty million dollars is not a small token Mrs Sinclair, and the empire you speak of does not belong to me, I am just the CEO, nothing more. As for the amount you are asking for, I'll see what I can do about it, but you'll have to give me something that is worth that exact amount” “You were once the owner of the entity, what property of ours would you have me give you?” Tamara asked him “How about the penthouse in Bahamas?” Owen said and if it wasn't for the fact that Tamara was well behaved, she would have cursed at him. “The penthouse in Bahamas? Do you know t
