CHAPTER FIFTY FOUR Maria had been busy the past week as the preparations for her daughter's upcoming wedding was a bit challenging. She had taken it upon her to make sure that the wedding would be a successful one. Esme was helping out in all that she could, and Katherine was also giving a helping hand. In less than a week, the preparations would be concluded and the wedding finalized. “Hey, hang it there” she said to the girl who was about to place a portrait on the wall. “Do I have to teach you everything?” Maria asked with a huff. She was tired of giving instructions, it seemed like they were all doing the opposite of what she wanted and she was really exhausted. For about a week now, her regular words had been “not there, there, not here, here” and she was pretty tired. “Oh Maria, what have they turned you to?” Maria heard a voice and she turned to see her sister, Benedicta. "To what do I owe this visit? Benedicta? Because it's been long I saw or even heard of you,
CHAPTER FIFTY FIVE Kate was fuming as she made her way out of the house. She had been insulted twice today by two insignificant people and this really hurt her pride. Mia had told her that she was in support of Rina's and Owen's wedding, and she wouldn't bear with anyone who tries to sabotage their plans. She huffed as she stormed out of the hallway, only to bump into Rina. She glared at her with raw hatred and Rina smiled at her. “Yunno, I found it hard to understand why you hate me, but as it is now I understand pretty well. You just can't help it, I'm too good” Rina said as she catwalked to where Kate stood, using her hands to brush off invisible speck of dust from Kate's cloth. “And need I remind you, the next time you try what you tried earlier today, I would make sure to teach you a lesson you would never forget in your entire lifetime” Rina whispered close to her ears and Kate clenched her fists until her knuckles turned white. Rina steeped away from her and wal
CHAPTER FIFTY SIX The celebration had come to an end, and it was time for them to return to their respective homes. Maria was beyond happy as she could see the envy on the faces of the people she had invited to the party. Even those who had claimed to be happy about the upcoming union, were all jealous and this made her ego bloat. “It's late already, we need to go home and take rest before the day breaks” Maria told Esme and Esme sighed. She had tried to convince her to stay the night and return to her house the next day, but Maria had refused. It seemed she still had a little bit of pride in her. Esme saw them out of the house, she and Maria gave each other a hug and Kate said her goodbyes to Jake. They drove out of the compound and Katherine retired to her room, while Jake offered to see Esme to hers. As soon as they got into Esme's room, Jake shut the door behind him. “What you tried to do today, do you know the risk you would be putting your son in if you had succeeded
CHAPTER FIFTY SEVEN Owen ran into the hospital premises like a mad man, while Mia and Rina tried to catch up with him. The nurses and doctors there had to give him space, to avoid running into him and vice versa. Owen raced to the room, since he was preinformed of the room number. He was told that his father slumped down and was admitted in the hospital, so he had to rush to meet him. He stopped in front of the room and pushed the door open with full force. He stepped into the room and was surprised to find out that there was no one there. He took his phone out from his pocket, by this time, Rina and Mia were already in the room. He called his father's number and it rang. He could hear the ringing from the room and he tried to find the phone. In no time, he saw the phone at the side of the hospital bed. He noticed that the bed cloth was rumpled, which meant that he had been here, but where could he have gone? A thousand thoughts ran through his head as he thought of a
CHAPTER FIFTY EIGHT Owen, Rina and Mia had left the hospital after hearing the doctors instructions. Owen had a solemn expression on his face, as he couldn't get his father's condition out of his mind. Somewhere within him, he felt that something was wrong. He had not spoken to his father, as he was still asleep when they left. They had waited for a while expecting him to wake up, but when he didn't, Owen knew they had to leave, duty calls. As long as the doctors confirmed that he was not dead, he tried to calm his mind. **************** “What a stressful day” Maria said as they walked into the lobby. She was all smiles as she couldn't get the thought of the upcoming wedding off her mind. “I'll be in my room” Kate said and left. Maria huffed, she was less concerned about Kate's tantrums. This wedding was her only concern at the moment, and she was willing to do anything to make it come to pass. She didn't know why Esme was asking her all those questions, but she was
CHAPTER FIFTY NINE “Good morning” Rina said with a small smile as she saw Owen in the kitchen, in an apron. She had just woken up from sleep, and was about to go check out the gym when she saw the kitchen door slightly open. She was surprised to see Owen there as it had crossed her mind to check up on him before coming down, but she didn't want to disturb his sleep. He looked good in an apron and she had to admit, it made him look more sexy. “Morning, and where are you headed to, dressed like that?” Owen asked with a raise of his brows and Rina smiled “The gym, I thought I heard you say you had one around. Or is there something wrong with my dressing?” She asked as she cross-checked her clothes. She was putting on a two piece gym suit which hugged her curves and she looked like a seductress in it. “No, there's nothing wrong with it, I just thought you were heading somewhere dressed like that” Owen said with a disapproving look “Assuming I was going somewhere, is there a
CHAPTER SIXTY Tamara had not done to work this morning as she had some preparations to make. She was having a meeting with Owen later in the day and she needed a calm head in order to plot a twist that would be hard to decipher. Time was running and she knew she had to make a good plan in order to make sure her property comes back to her hand. Owen has gotten wiser over the years and she couldn't possibly use the first tactics she used in collecting the properties, as she was sure that it wouldn't work. She held a cup of hot coffee in her hands as she sat in the garden, sipping slowly. Her company's stocks was reducing daily and although she wasn't really doing anything much about it, she couldn't just fold hands and watch her company go bankrupt as it would be a shame to her, and it was also her most lucrative source of income. “Owen” she hummed She took a peak at the watch in her hand and she sighed. It was a few minutes past 10:00 and her meeting was by 11:00 she
CHAPTER SIXTY ONE “I'll be back before you know it” Owen told Rina as he placed a soft kiss on her forehead. They had just finished eating the meal prepared by Mia in the boys quarter’s kitchen, as theirs had been damaged already due to the fire. They had received the scolding of their life, and Mia had put the whole blame on Owen, although she knew it wasn't entirely his fault, Rina was also to be blamed, but she couldn't see herself directing her anger at her, because the young lady was just too adorable. “Babe” he called as he placed a kiss on her neckline. Rina had turned her back to him, and he found the whole thing amusing. He didn't know she was this clingy, he was new to it, and he liked this part of her. “Babe” he called again, but she didn't budge. “Hey, look at me, I'll be back before you know it, Owen cajoled and Rina turned to him, pouting her lips and Owen was tempted to laugh at the way she looked, but he held himself at the last minute “Are you sure?
