CHAPTER ELEVEN

William's mind was a whirlwind of emotions, and for a moment, it seemed like he wanted to storm off because he was overwhelmed by the shame and anger of the situation.

He envisioned himself standing up, pushing the table aside, and leaving the restaurant in a fit of frustration.

He clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles turned white, and his body trembled with the turmoil inside him.

But then reality crashed down upon him. Escaping this predicament was not so simple, and he realized that storming off would only further damage his reputation.

As William finally looked up from the documents, he met Jason's unwavering gaze. Jason leaned in closer, his voice low and controlled.

He decided to give William an ultimatum, each word deliberate and weighted.

"William," he said, "You can either accept your new position within the company, working under my authority, or you can choose to contest this sale. But if you do, you should be prepared to face the potential legal consequences of attempting to go back on the sale."

Jason's words echoed through William's mind, and it became clear that the tables had turned entirely. The once seemingly impossible scenario had now materialized, leaving William with a stark choice.

Throughout this confrontation, Alison had been silently seething with envy and jealousy. She watched William’s struggle with a mix of emotions—surprise, resentment, and bitterness.

She was well aware that this was a turning point in their lives, and they hadn't seen it coming. Jason, the former mechanic, was  now their superior, and Alison was grappling with this uncomfortable reality.

As the confrontation settled into a tense standoff, Jason's mind raced with thoughts of his newfound success.

His transformation from a humble mechanic to the CEO of Montgomery Enterprise has been nothing short of a triumph.

It was a moment of sweet vindication, and Jason reveled in it. He had turned the tables on those who once humiliated him, and this revelation was just the beginning of what he had in store for them.

William's face was flushed with anger as he leaned forward in his chair with his fists trembling with frustration.

He couldn't believe the audacity of Jason, a man he once considered nothing more than a mechanic, now claiming to be his superior.

"This is preposterous!" William exclaimed, his voice quivering with rage. "You expect me to believe that you, a mere grease monkey, are now my boss?"

Jason, calm and composed, met William's outburst with a steely gaze. He leaned in, his voice measured and confident.

"It's not a matter of belief, William. It's a matter of fact. I own the majority of Montgomery Enterprise now, and legally, that makes me the new CEO."

William clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles turned white. His mind raced, searching for a way out of this humiliating predicament.

He glanced at the legal documents Jason had placed on the table. Those papers were like a verdict of his own foolishness.

"I won't stand for this," William seethed. "I didn't know what I was doing when I sold those shares. I wasn’t aware you were the new CEO, if I was aware, I wouldn’t have agreed!"

Jason shook his head. "I assure you, William, it's no trick. I've had my legal team go over the transaction. You willingly sold the shares. There's no way out of this."

Alison sat beside William, her face a whirlwind of emotions as she watched her William’s struggle with the reality of their situation.

The envy and jealousy she felt toward Jason's newfound success still weighed heavily on her, but she knew that this wasn't the time to let those emotions cloud their judgment.

As William clenched his fists, still seething with anger, Alison knew she had to intervene to prevent further damage to their lives.

She leaned in closer to him, her voice barely above a whisper. "William, we need to talk."

He turned to look at her with his expression a mix of anger and frustration. "What is there to talk about, Alison? This is an outrage!"

She nodded, acknowledging his feelings, but she knew she needed to appeal to his practical side. "I understand that this is infuriating, but we need to consider our future. My family wanted us to be together because they thought you could help us financially but you can’t help us if you don’t agree to Jason’s terms.”

William's face was filled with resentment, but he couldn't deny the truth in her words.

He and his soon to be in laws had been accustomed to a life of privilege and wealth, and losing their status was a bitter pill to swallow. "I won't work for him, Alison. This is degrading."

Alison placed her hand on his, trying to calm his anger. "I know it feels that way, but think about it, William. This isn't permanent. It's a temporary situation. We can't afford to let our pride get in the way of our financial stability."

As William stared at Alison, a war of emotions played out in his eyes.

He had always been headstrong and confident, and the thought of working under someone he had once dismissed as a mere mechanic was humiliating.

But Alison's words were a stark reminder of the reality they faced.

He knew he had a responsibility to provide for Alison and her family, and the bitter taste of his pride and anger slowly began to fade.

With a heavy sigh, William turned to Jason. "Fine, Jason. I'll work for you."

Jason maintained a calm exterior, though a sense of satisfaction gleamed in his eyes. "I appreciate your willingness to cooperate, William. It's essential for the company's success, and I hope you can understand that."

William nodded with his jaw clenched. He may have reluctantly accepted the situation, but that didn't mean he had to like it. "I'll work, but don't expect me to be your loyal servant."

Jason raised an eyebrow. "I expect professionalism, William. This is a business, and our personal feelings need to stay out of it. You'll have the chance to prove your value to the company."

The tension between them was still palpable, a silent battle of wills that neither was willing to concede.

The terms of their new professional relationship were set, but the resentment and rivalry ran deep.

As the evening wore on, Jason couldn't help but drop a few cryptic remarks, subtle hints at the storm that was brewing in the depths of his mind.

He knew that his newfound power was an opportunity to right the wrongs of the past, and he wanted the Hastings family to feel the weight of their actions.

At one point, he raised his glass in a toast, a sly smile playing at the corners of his lips. "To new beginnings," he said, his eyes locking with William's for a brief moment.

It was a simple toast, but the underlying message was clear - things had changed, and they were just getting started.

The tension in the room was palpable, and it was evident that the unresolved issues between them were far from settled.

Just as the evening seemed to be winding down, Jason's eyes flickered with a mysterious intensity.

"There's one more thing," he said, his voice barely audible over the din of the restaurant. He paused for effect, allowing the tension to thicken in the air.

The room fell into an uneasy silence. William and Alison exchanged alarmed glances, their faces pale with dread. "What are you talking about?" William demanded, his voice edged with fear.

Jason merely smiled, a sly and calculated grin that sent shivers down their spines. "All will be revealed in due time," he said cryptically. "But rest assured, your past sins are catching up with you. And when they do, there'll be no escaping the consequences."
