Chapter 80

Ethan strode into the boardroom, spine straight and shoulders squared. The murmuring voices quieted as all eyes turned to him. He let the silence hang for a moment, amplifying the tension.

"Gentlemen," he finally said, voice ringing out clearly in the hushed room. "I'm sure you all know why I've called this emergency meeting."

His piercing gaze swept over the assembled board members. Most looked away, unable to meet his intense stare.

"It has come to my attention that there are...concerns about my legitimacy as head of the Astor Group." Ethan paused, letting the words sink in. "Concerns that I am not truly my father's son and rightful heir."

The silence grew uncomfortable. Several of the men squirmed under Ethan's unrelenting gaze.

"David," Ethan said sharply, focusing on a nervous-looking man at the end of the table. "Perhaps you'd care to repeat what you told Mr. Jones yesterday at the country club."

David paled, shrinking down in his seat. "I, uh, I merely expressed that..."
