Sweat ran down Callum's forehead as he attempted to manipulate his mana again. It had taken him several attempts to get the feel for changing the shape.
Unfortunately, he found he had to use his hands as a crutch, and could only manipulate the shape by moving his fingers like a puppeteer. Damn, this is hard.
He could guess that with practice he would eventually be able to do it using only his mind. However, that thought only made him more frustrated since he couldn't do it right now. This should be enough.
He could feel his mana taking the form of two hands, but the flip side of that was the rest of the mana around him becoming thinner. So, if I think of it as a liquid and the shape is the container, it's obvious the extra mass would have to come from somewhere.
Something seemed to click when Callum realised that. There was a clear limit to how much mana he could use. Instead of trying to force out more from a dry well, it would be better to use the unneeded mana from elsewhere.
Suddenly, with the shift in his thought process, the mana shielding his body began to flow to his hands. He could feel the mana limbs becoming thicker, stronger, and more connected to his will.
"Ha, haha."
Callum couldn't help but laugh as his control over his mana became smooth. He no longer had to struggle to force it to do what he wanted. This is good.
A wide grin spread across his face as he urged his mana to grab onto the world mana in the water. If anyone saw him, they would describe his grin as becoming creepy-looking as his hypothesis proved to be correct. Will pulling it into my body be enough?
Callum's eyes widened as he dragged the water mana from the glass. The more he pulled out, the lower the water level became, until the glass was dry. A few questions came to him, but he pushed those to the back of his mind as he continued his task.
He willed his mana to enter his body, and his body jolted when the foreign water mana followed it. The palms of his hands became itchy and uncomfortable, which caused Callum to frown as he stared at them.
Right, I'm supposed to circulate it. Callum sighed as he used his mana to push it up through his arms and around his body in a clockwise direction. The foreign mana thinned out with each circuit. Eventually, he could no longer feel it.

Why does this feel like a game? Callum groaned as he glared at the screens only he could see. He was quite interested in the Legacy point reward since he assumed it was some kind of internal currency he could use alongside his inheritance.
Stats.

What the hell is this?
[Query Answer: The expanded mana menu shows the user the composition of different magical elements currently stored for use within their body. Arcane mana is the user's natural mana that carries their will when casting spells. It is the only type of mana that naturally regenerates over time. The six elemental mana types must be drawn and stored from a source. They can also be used to further refine your mana vessel to increase its storage capacity for each element.]
Callum hadn't expected an answer, but it was nice to get one. So, it can do more than show the information stored on it. What exactly is this ring?
[Query Answer: An enchanted item that stores the Shaw family's magical legacy. Further information has not been unlocked in the Archives.]
Can you explain my other stats?
[Query Answer: Your other stats are representative of how much of each of the six elemental manas your vessel has refined. Together they set the limit of your Arcane mana and how it affects your body and spells. I will now explain each stat and what element it is linked to.]
[Power/Fire: Determines the raw power of your spells, their range and the area they can affect. Increased spell penetration against magical defences.]
[Endurance/Earth: Faster Arcane mana regeneration, increased resistance to magical and physical damage, resistance to extreme conditions and magical effects.
[Charisma/Light: Increased positive spell effects on others, increased resistance to dark magic and curses, and others will see you as more attractive/trustworthy due to the influence of your magical aura.
[Agility/Air: Faster mana flow for spellcasting, increased reflexes and speed, greater control over fine body movements.]
[Spirit/Water: Increased spell potency, Lower mana cost for spells, Greater effectiveness for summoning spells, Increased Arcane mana regeneration, Increased enchantment effectiveness.]
[Mysticism/Dark: Increased spell complexity limit, Increased Magical Insight, Increased effectiveness of negative spell effects on others, Increased damage to user's Curse spells, Increased alchemy effectiveness.]
Damn, that's a lot to take in. It's a shame my Power stat is so low. A long sigh escaped Callum's lips as he decided to check out the Archives as the ring had suggested earlier.

[Unlock Circle Level Enchantment and Knowledge of Major Arcana: The Magician? Cost: 1 Legacy Point.]
Callum hesitated for a bit as he read the new notifications. However, he was completely at a loss for what it meant or what it may unlock. It should be fine. He wouldn't have left me something that could be dangerous to me. Yes, unlock it.
Cairo, Egypt:A middle-aged man leaned against a wall and began crying as he touched the single blue bead hanging from a black string around his neck. The mana is agitated. He sighed as he looked up at the clear blue sky. The Major Arcana is complete once again. The world is in danger. His shoulders dropped as he vanished into a dark alley.Tokyo, Japan:It's time. A smile appeared on the young woman's face as she pulled her long, silky black hair into a ponytail. The question is, which way will the winds blow?Edinburgh, Scotland:A young Nepali woman held her grandfather's arm as he trembled while they disembarked from the plane."Is everything alright?" She asked, her brow knotted in concern."Everything's fine. There's no need to worry. Hurry along and see if our taxi is here. I'll be along in a moment."He smiled as he watched his granddaughter, who was also his only apprentice, hurry away. A grimace washed the smile from his face as his eyes fell on the floor. This shouldn't hav
"What the fuck!" Callum roared as he looked around the kitchen, expecting to see the guy pop out of nowhere. "What just happened?"He would've thought it was a bad dream or that he'd gone crazy if it weren't for the ice shards on the floor and the broken glass of the door. Callum took several deep breaths while trying to calm his pounding heart while remaining vigilant.Suddenly, the sounds of the outside world returned. It must be over. Callum wasn't sure why he thought that, but he was certain it was right. Before he could celebrate, he heard the dreaded sound of footsteps in the hallway. Please, no!"Quick, Maya, check the kitchen." The old voice Callum heard moments before the attack shouted.Callum frowned as a young Nepali woman with straight black hair appeared. It took a moment for her to scan the damage before noticing Callum off to the side. Her eyes went wide for a moment before a bright smile lit up her face."He's here! And he's alive!" Maya called over her shoulder."Hmm
Callum watched the scenery go by as the train rumbled along the tracks. He was lost in thoughts since Dani had seemed angry when he called her. He'd given her the excuse that he needed to get away from everything and had decided to move to London for a while.Naturally, she tried to talk him out of it. She argued he shouldn't make such big decisions while his emotions were a mess. Dani only gave up when he told her he was already on a train and that he would be staying with a family friend."Hey," Maya grunted to get Callum's attention. "You need to focus. You heard Grandpa, you need to refine your mana and deepen your understanding of magic before we reach The Clocktower.""Sorry," Cal smiled. "You're right. What element do you suggest I start with?""Huh?" Maya raised an eyebrow at the ridiculous question. "How many elements are you attuned with? Two? Three?"Maya's voice rose an octave with each number she said. However, before she could get an answer, Master Gurung sitting next to
"What the" Maya blurted out when she felt the temperature around them dropping. "How? It's not even been an hour yet!"Callum chuckled at her expression which looked like she had eaten something sour. He swore a smirk on his face as he shrugged."It's not that difficult. I'm sure Master Gurung wouldn't have asked me to do something he didn't think I'd be capable of."It was a loaded statement. After all, Callum was certain it was something that should be beyond the level of someone who didn't have the answers. He only said it like that to see what reaction the old man would have. However, Master Gurung didn't even bother opening his eyes as he nodded. Damn. Either Grandpa told him what our legacy is capable of or he already had his suspicions. If it's the first then it's not a big deal. But if it's the second...Callum chewed on the implications of that question for a moment. Then he's testing the limits of The Magician by using me as a test subject. He could only trust his Grandpa'

He had managed to raise his fire-related stats by 3 and his air-related ones by 1. Unfortunately, the train had become busier which brought a halt to his training to prevent anyone from noticing the anomalies caused by it.After arriving in London, they had taken a taxi. Callum had fully expected to be brought to Big Ben considering the organisation was called The Clocktower. However, they stopped outside an old antique shop that nobody glanced at twice."Hey, why are we here?" Callum asked Maya as Master Gurung paid the driver. "I don't know." Maya shrugged. "It's my first time in London outside of airports."Callum grimaced when he realised there
Callum's eyes went wide as they stepped inside the room. He had expected to find a woman behind a desk in a neat office. However, what he stepped into instead was the largest garden he had ever seen!Shrubs, trees, hedges, and flowers he had never seen were dotted around the landscape. Their colours and hues made a perfect harmony that seemed to soothe his soul. Soon, he heard the sound of birds chirping. As the fragrant scents washed over him, Callum spotted cats, dogs, foxes, bees, ants, and many other living creatures going about their business. A short distance away, a stunning woman in her early thirties sat inside an octagon-shaped white gazebo. Her light brown hair was done up in a tress, and her white day dress gave her a certain look of purity. That, combined with the scenery, made her look like a nature goddess descended to earth."My, my," The woman said with a bright smile as she turned to look at her guests. "Who do we have here? The elusive Hermit of all people! I must s
"Wait!" Cal said, but it was too late."Where are we?" Maya looked around the room they had appeared in.Callum cocked an eyebrow as he scanned the large but almost empty room. There was a comfortable-looking four-poster bed in the middle of one wall with a set of drawers and a wardrobe against another. The strangest thing though, was a desk and chair with a black gem-like ball embedded in it.A knock sounded against one of the three thick wooden doors in the room and Maya was quick to open it. On the other side was a young woman with dark circles under her eyes. "Is Callum Shaw here?" The woman asked as she peered into the room. "I'm here to deliver his materials and explain a few things to him.""I'm right here," Cal said as he waved her in. "Maya, give her some room.""Thank you. My name's Emily Fletcher." The woman smiled brightly despite her evident exhaustion. "First, let me say congratulations on joining The Clocktower. You must be quite skilled to pass the entrance exam despit
Callum cursed as he rushed through the hallway. His hair was still wet, and he'd missed breakfast. Thank god for that enchanted thing in the bathroom that cleans clothes. It would have been embarrassing to arrive on the first day with odour issues.Luckily, the bracelet is enchanted to show where your next class is. Cal grinned as he stared at the black metal band on his left wrist. The enchantment was pointing at a door on his right a short distance away. There were a few minutes left until the class started, so Callum paused outside to catch his breath before going inside. Silence descended in the lecture room as he opened the door and stepped inside. His classmates stared at him with confused expressions, and a young man in the middle row looking down at him opened his mouth to say something."Callum!" Emily squealed from the second row, which drew everyone's attention to her.Callum sighed in relief. At least there's one person I know in my first class. His relief was short-lived
