CHAPTER NINE: CALL OF POWER.

Miles was dragged out of the building. On the way out, the numerous security men laughed as they punched and kicked him while holding him down forcefully. Finally, they almost stripped him naked as they tore his uniform off his body. Miles looked down at his tattered uniform in anger and frustration.

“How could you guys do this to me?” Miles coldly gazed at the mocking faces of the security men in front of him. “We’ve worked together as coworkers for years, and now, you guys are treating me like your worst enemy.”

The security men glanced at each other and they burst into laughter.

“Shut up, and quit asking such a stupid question.” One of the older security men got angry and kicked Miles in the chest, watching him fall to the ground. “Ever since you started working here, none of the female cleaners in this organization has paid any attention to us.” He pointed an accusing hand at Miles. “To them, our looks couldn’t hold a single candle to yours.”

Miles suddenly understood the problem. Ever since he became a security officer at the gate, the cleaning ladies of Styleon Group had begun ignoring the other security men for his handsome look. Even though these ladies knew he was married, they would flirt with him openly while he repeated to them that he was married and in love with his wife, Lola.

“Is this why you guys hate me so much? Are you guys insane!” Miles got up from the floor in fury. “How am I responsible for any of that?” He tightened his fist as he got ready to fight back against these bullies.

“Enough of this useless chatting! Get that scum out of here!” The head of security came from his office as he had heard the commotion.

"Is this man still here? Do you guys not know how to do your job right?" A man in a sharp suit showed up with his hands behind his back. This was Fisher McCall – the manager who ignored Miles' complaints earlier and ordered the security men to throw him out.

“You!” Miles raised a finger and pointed straight at Fisher. "I'm gonna make you regret doing this to me."

Fisher sneered as he stared at Miles in disdain. “I’d love to see you try.”

Miles said no more as he retrieved his outdated phone and dialed a number. Unknown to the group of watchers, Miles had called the CEO of Eckre Empire Headquarters.

"Dorian, listen to me very well," Miles spoke with a sudden tone of authority, even the manager and the security men were momentarily taken aback. “I want Styleon Group in an immediate state of bankruptcy within the next few hours. Do you hear me?”

Dorian’s voice came through with a cold resolve. “Right away, Sir.”

The call came to an end and Miles glared at the audience before him.

Fisher, on the other hand, glanced at the security before they broke into a bout of mocking laughter.

"What the hell was that display?" Fisher waved his hand at Miles. "Did you think I'd believe that? You must be far dumber than I assumed." He walked towards Miles and shoved a finger at his forehead. "Your desperate attempt to scare me only shows how much of a fool you are. It would have been better if you had spent that wasted time begging me like the poverty-stricken loser you are; I may have considered rehiring your stupid ass. But that's never happening now."

Miles shoved Fisher's finger away from him with a brooding face, but he remained quiet. He was determined to only let the result show itself later as proof of his true power.

Fisher McCall glared at Miles with disgust before he turned around and headed back into the building. “Guards, get rid of this insignificant pest!”

“Yes, sir!” The security men stood at attention.

Miles noticed that the security men only stared at him with evil smirks; they weren’t doing as the manager had instructed them. That was when he saw Edmund Porsche exiting the company building and walking towards him.

Edmund glanced at the head of security and he handed over a bundled $3,000 cash. “Hold him down for me; I want to watch as you beat him up.”

Miles was surprised as he was quickly grabbed and detained by the security men once more. He then endured multiple rounds of physical and verbal abuse.

Unknown to Edmund though, Fisher McCall was shaking in his office as he spoke to someone on the phone. “Ma’am, what do you mean Styleon is on the verge of bankruptcy?!”
