Chapter 31: Public Appearance

Johnny grimaced as he tried to put on his tie. He had never worn a tie before. None of his previous jobs required him to wear a suit, and it wasn't like he could afford one anyway. During the family gathering, he had gotten away with it by not wearing a tie at all. Unfortunately, his parents insisted that he had to wear a tie so he could be presentable in front of the press.

"Why is it so hard to wear a tie?" he muttered to himself.

As he fought with the tie, his father walked up from behind and asked, "Are you ready, son?"

Turning to face his father, Johnny saw his father raise an eyebrow. "Do you need help?"

"Yes," he said, embarrassed that he had to ask for help from his father.

His father took the tie in hand and proceeded to tie it while telling him the proper way to do things. Johnny tried to listen to the instructions, but he was distracted by the way his father looked as he fixed Johnny's tie. Thoughts about everything filled his mind.
