Chapter 33: Disaster

It in fact did not end there. It took almost an hour later before Johnny could finally escape the vultures. The only reason why it didn't take longer or shorter was because he was trying to avoid making things worse. His parents getting more involved might have ended things early and caused the reporters to somehow twist it into something else.

Johnny wiped the sweat off his forehead as he collapsed onto the sofa, ready to pass out from everything that had happened. "How bad was it?"

His parents grimaced as they glanced at each other before his mother said, "It could have been worse."

He wasn't reassured in the slightest. She was clearly trying to cheer him up, but it just showed how badly things turned out. If it weren't for that question, he wouldn't have been caught off guard, and things wouldn't have gotten ugly. Just thinking about it made him angry. Why would they even bring it up in the first place? Where had they gotten that information?
