Johnny stepped forward as he said, "Anyway, we better get going. We have a lot of things we need to get done."

The two women looked at him with annoyance at having him interrupt them. He could hear loud and clear that they couldn't believe he would get in their way. Honestly, he wondered if he was dealing with a bunch of teenagers instead of fully grown women. Were they really the same women he encountered at the very beginning?

He shook his head slightly and said, "Dorothy, let's go."

Dorothy was reluctant to go, but she eventually caved in and followed Johnny. Before the duo left, the two women glared at each other, telling each other with their eyes that this wasn't over. Johnny was seriously questioning their maturity. He wondered if he had somehow been dropped in an alternate reality where they were immature teens.

That was a silly idea. If he really did end up in an alternate reality, wouldn't he have realized it already? He was pretty sure it would be really obvious that he was

Now that the idea was implanted in Johnny's brain, he couldn't shake it off and started his own investigation. Of course, it wasn't that easy. He had to juggle between looking for clues and handling his daily affairs. There was the jewelry business, and he still couldn't figure out how he managed to make it work. The dating business was also hanging over his head.Dealing with the two women wasn't exactly something he wanted to do, but he had to suck it up for now. However, those weren't the only problems. He didn't have much to go on. If the monster thing was true, who knew what else he couldn't remember? He wouldn't be able to be sure if something was just his imagination or not.His investigation didn't go unnoticed, either. The ones that noticed the most were his parents, since he was using the family's resources to do some digging. He had managed to come up with excuses each time, but there were only so many times that he could say it was because he wanted to know more about the

"System, if this isn't an alternate world, could this be a dream or illusion?" Johnny asked. As soon as those words left his mouth, he felt like an idiot. While it was true that the system was probably his best option for answers, it actually didn't make sense in hindsight. If it was either of those options, why would the system know about it or be able to help him? It was all in his head, so anything the system said would be something he would think of.[The system wondered if the user would ever notice.]Startled, he stared at the screen for several long moments before asking, "Come again?"[The system was uncertain whether or not the user would ever recognize that none of this was real.]Anger coursed through his veins as he demanded, "Explain."[The system doesn't understand what the user is upset about.][This is a test designed to see if the user is worthy of getting a power or not.]His eyebrows shot up as he asked, "What do you mean? I thought I already got my power. In fact,

"System, is there anything you can tell me about the test?" Johnny asked. [The user already has all the clues needed to solve the test.] Johnny frowned as he considered the system's words. If that was the case, what was he missing? He had already gone over everything that happened in this fake world. Thinking it over, he still couldn't come up with anything. Well, he did have another idea, but it was so ridiculous that he couldn't bring himself to voice it without looking like a fool. [What will the user do?] However, if there was a slight chance that it might work, he had to take the chance. In the worst case scenario, he would just feel like an idiot. There was no one there to judge him for it, and he didn't think the system would penalize him if he said something wrong. It certainly hadn't done anything to him so far, so he didn't think that would change. "System, can I choose to return to the real world?" he asked. [If that is what the user wants, then the user can.] He star

Johnny focused his attention on the mysterious sixth screen, pushing aside all the others. Since he currently had five powers, it should mean that he should have only gotten five screens. What was the sixth going to say? His eyes widened as he reread the contents over and over again. No matter how many times he read it, the words didn't change.[Adaptation][The user has done the impossible and obtained multiple powers during the test. The user has proven that they are capable of obtaining more than one power without serious consequences or suffering any issues.][The user can earn new powers after the user meets certain criteria.]Looking away from the screen, he asked, "System, is this legitimate?"[The system doesn't understand what the user is asking. Please repeat.]He couldn't tell if the system simply didn't understand what he was asking or it didn't know about the sixth option. It was hard to imagine that the system wouldn't know about it since it was the one offering it to hi

Dorothy walked towards the entrance of the registration building at a steady pace. She kept a cool expression when she was secretly seething on the inside. It was infuriating that she had been sent here instead of fighting monsters. If she wanted to raise her status in the family, she should be making a name for herself. Of course, the family head and heir were doing their best to keep that from happening. They must have felt threatened by her presence, considering how they had been sidelining her for over a year. It was thrilling to know that she was a possible candidate to become the head of the family, but it was frustrating how hard they blocked her path. If it had been a fair competition, she wouldn't be stuck here doing something anyone in the family could do.She barely glanced at the line that had formed. None of them were people she knew. No one from the seven families would have been forced to wait in line. If they were valuable, she would find out later. For now, she needed

"Do you understand?" the woman asked after finishing her explanation.Johnny nodded. The test was quite simple. He had to demonstrate his power for everyone to see what he expected. The problem was actually testing his power since he hadn't gotten a new power to use yet. As soon as he thought that, a screen popped into view. He hadn't expected to see the screen ever again and scanned the text.[The user has completed the following criteria: registering themselves as a blessed.][The user will now obtain one new power. Please select from the following.]Looking at the list of five powers he could choose from, he was both surprised and unsurprised by the list. All the powers listed were powers he had obtained during the test. He had thought the system would just give him a power based on the situation, but he supposed this was better. Now he had to decide which power was the best for his situation.Obviously, the fire power was out of the question. While it would be great to have it aga

"How about you have someone try to attack me with the intent to hurt me?" Johnny said."What?" the woman said, staring at him as if he had grown another head."You clearly don't believe me, even though I've proven that I can tell what you're feeling. If you have someone come in from my blindspot, I'll be able to prove that I can sense their bloodlust," he said as he crossed her arms.Instead of saying anything or moving, she continued to look at him like she couldn't believe her ears. Well, he had to admit that he would also be just as bewildered if someone he thought was faking their power asked to be attacked. He would have thought they were insane or delusional and got security to deal with them. However, he was counting on it.Johnny didn't seriously think that she would listen to him and send someone to attack him. That's why he wanted her to call security to deal with him, and he would prove to her that he wasn't a fraud. Just like he expected, she immediately excused herself to

Dorothy rolled her shoulders slightly as she kept an impassive expression on her face. She was finally done with her job and could return home. There was no chance she would get to go on the field since they were probably finishing up now. It was frustrating, but there was nothing she could do about it. As she walked towards the exit, she noticed someone blocking the steps. She narrowed her eyes as her guard stepped forward and said, "Move."The man turned around, and she recognized him as someone who had been standing in line. That itself wouldn't have caught her interest if it weren't for the look in his eyes. He didn't look at her with awe or fear. Instead, he looked at her as if he were looking at her as if they were acquaintances. She didn't think anyone outside the seven families would look at her with such familiarity."Sorry," he said as he stepped aside. Her guard was about to demand that the man completely move out of the way so they wouldn't even be within a foot of each ot

Hello everyone. I forgot to add a note in the previous chapter. Anyway, I just want to thank all my readers who have been following along. I really appreciate it. Now for the news you have been waiting for.Johnny's story has ended and turned out shorter than Billy's story like I expected. With its end, I currently have no ongoing stories on this site.I've decided I'll take a break from the site. How long the break will last I'm not quite sure. Hopefully, the break won't be long, and I have a new story up within the year, but we will have to see.Just like with Rise of the Demon King: Caleb Gonzales's Rat Race and Rise of the Desperate: Billy Wood's Save and Restart System, I might do a rewrite or remake of it.If I do go through with this idea, then I'll just immediately go to eBook and paperback, and it would be very different from the one here. We will have to see, and I'll let everyone know.As I stated before, if you want to stay in contact with me, you'll probably have to use F*

"By the way, I don't mean to rush things, but the time limit for the hour is until I return," she said. That certainly caught Johnny's attention as he demanded, "How long is that?""A couple more minutes," she said.A couple minutes wasn't a lot of time to come to a life changing decision. He still needed more time to think. Did he really want to take a chance and accept the offer, which meant leaving everything he knew, or should he stay and weather whatever the system had in store for the world? Weighing the pros and cons of each decision, he could feel sweat forming on his head."I need to go. Have you come to a decision?" she asked. After a brief moment, he said, "Yes.""Well, what's your decision?" she asked."I'll take the offer," he said. She smiled as she said, "Good choice."Suddenly, Katherine slumped over alarming Johnny, who rushed to check up on her. She appeared to be still breathing, and there didn't seem

"Okay, I'm listening," Johnny said."I'm glad to see you can be reasoned with. I've heard of others who aren't so fortunate," the intruder said."Others?" he said."We'll get to that later," she said as she attempted to make a waving motion.Unfortunately, Katherine's missing limbs made that a moot point. It honestly made Johnny uncomfortable seeing Katherine's body attempt to do something an ordinary person could do. He wasn't the only one put off by the situation. The intruder grimaced as she settled back into the wheelchair."Anyway, I'm here to give you a proposal from the system," the intruder said."What?" Johnny snapped."You heard me right. The system would like to offer you a deal, and it's up to you if you want to accept this," the intruder said.Johnny's mind whirled over what she said, scarcely believing what she just said. The system wanted to offer him a deal? This was completely unplanned. He had never heard of t

Johnny blinked. "Wait. EVeryone?"He couldn't believe what Frank was saying. Was he crazy? Did he really want to let the whole world know about the monsters being able to receive messages from the system? It would be complete chaos. Johnny was exactly advocating to tell no one. Far from it, but he couldn't see how it would help anyone to inform the public about this information."Well, not everyone," Frank said. "I'm referring to the authorities as this is a matter of security.""Will they take it seriously?" Johnny asked."It's hard to say. It's possible everyone will think it's a joke, but it's also possible that some will take the warning seriously," Frank said."I see," Johnny simply said."If that's all, I'm going to take my leave and let you get some rest," Frank said as he stood up.Johnny nodded. Chapter 93: Aftermath

Johnny's eyes snapped open as he sat up abruptly. His mind was moving at several miles per hour as he scanned his surroundings. He had to stop her before she got away. However, the monster was nowhere in sight. He wasn't sure how long he had been out cold, but he supposed it was a bit much to expect the monster to linger just because he told her to stop.More importantly, he was no longer in that place considering the lack of lava. Taking a good look at his surroundings, he deduced that he was back in his own world, which set him on edge. How did he get back? As he wondered who or what had brought him back, the door to the room swung open. He stared at the sight of Frank leading the backs of doctors and unknown men."Johnny, you're awake," Frank said as he rushed over to check on him.A tad bit uncomfortable with how Frank was acting, Johnny asked, "Frank, what happened?"Frank grimaced. "It's a bit of a long story. First, we should make sure you're okay."As soon as he said that, Fra

As Johnny stared at his mother, wondering why he felt uneasy about the whole thing, it finally clicked. "You're not my mother.""What are you talking about? Of course I'm your mother," she said.Johnny shook his head as he took on a relaxed stance. "No, you're not. I don't know why you're pretending to be here, but you should just give up now. It's not going to help you in the long run."The woman also dropped her stance and shrugged her shoulders as she said, "Well, this is unexpected. How did you know?"Rather than admit that it was just his gut instinct, he said, "I have no reason to tell you.""I suppose I should have figured you would say that," she said calmly. She was far too calm for his liking. He knew nothing about it here other than she was a fake, which didn't mean much in the end. It wasn't like he would have gone easier even if she was his mom. However, it did explain why she killed his father without batting an eye, but it begged the question of where his real mother wa

Chapter 91: Unexpected Turn of Events

Johnny ignored his father, as he was just relieved that his healing power and fire power helped him survive his father's attack. His fire power apparently gave him some resistance to fire, and his healing power healed whatever managed to get past his fire resistance. He took advantage of his father's shock to lunge at the man and return the favor. He landed several punches before his father recovered from his shock and shielded against the punches. Johnny didn't let up and continued to barrage his father with punches, hoping to get past his defenses and continue his original onslaught. After some time, his father apparently had enough and roared as he unleased a wave of flames. With a grunt, Johnny was forced back, though he was unharmed. His father glared venomously at him as he snarled, "That's enough. I'm going to end this."With a bravo that he didn't completely feel, Johnny said, "Just try it. You're just going to fail again."As his father was about

    Chapter 90: Meeting the Family

While Johnny didn't like the idea, he didn't have much of a choice. Sticking around wasn't going to do anything except waste time and put himself in possible danger. With no one else with him, he had no one he could rely on if he was suddenly attacked by a bunch of monsters, which was a serious risk. He didn't want to take that risk."Where do we meet up?" Johnny asked."We'll try to continue with the plan and head for the head of the family's office," Frank said.Just as Johnny was about to protest that idea, he heard a loud animalistic roar. He frantically checked his surroundings and didn't see anything. Before he could feel relieved, he heard screams and shouts on the other side. He placed his hands on the rubble, hoping to at least find a small opening to get a better look at what was happening."Frank? What's going on? Are you okay?" Johnny asked frantically. There was no response except more shouting and fighting. He was completely in the da

Chapter 89: Confronting the Burns Family

Even though Johnny had said he wasn't going to let the matter go, wasn't it a bit much to storm the Burns family's home just days after his decision? He thought it would take a couple weeks to prepare. They couldn't take down such a powerful family in just a few days. What was everyone thinking? He wondered if they all had lost their minds."Johnny, is something the matter?" Frank asked as the car headed for their intended destination. "You don't look good.""I just can't believe we're moving in now," Johnny said."You have nothing to worry about. Everything has already been sorted out," FRank said."Are you really sure we're good to go?" Johnny asked."You have nothing to worry about. The plan was already in motion before you decided to throw your hat in the ring. It's been modified to include your involvement," Frank said.Frank might have said it to reassure Johnny, but it didn't in the slightest. Johnny had been at the meeting discussing
