"What's your business here, sir?" the woman at the counter asked as she glanced up from what she was doing.

"I'm here to perform some missions," Johnny said as he leaned over the counter.

The woman immediately stood up as she grabbed a binder. "Oh, do you need an explanation about how this works?"

Johnny shook his head. "No, just please show me what you have."

While she looked doubtful, she handed the binder over for him to see. He accepted it with ease and took a seat. It was funny how outdated their system was. Instead of setting up a website or some kind of online board, they decided to go with paper. He scanned his options as he debated which one he should pick. It had to be something worth his while.

However, it had to be something that would be plausible for his first mission. Since he had just become a blessed, it didn't make sense for him to choose a mission that was extremely difficult. On the other hand, he didn't want to waste his time on tasks that provided him no benefit

Johnny waited patiently for his time to come. The other man kept shooting him glances, obviously wondering when Johnny was going to get tired of waiting and do something about it. It was understandable. There was literally nothing to do. While Johnny did have his phone that he could use to surf the web to hold off the boredom, it wouldn't be a productive use of his time.Of course, Johnny only put on an act of browsing the web. In actuality, he was listening in on the other man's thoughts. It was the reason why he had been willing to stick around for so many hours. Johnny had wanted to see if he could learn of some useful information that he could use for blackmail. So far, he had learned a few interesting things, but they weren't that useful. He didn't need to know about the man's love life or where he was going to eat once his shift was over. Just as Johnny thought he wouldn't get anything useful out of the man, the man suddenly thought about the Lopez family. In an instant, Johnny

"It's good to see that you successfully completed your mission," the man said. "Would you like to sell the nectar to us, or will you sell it yourself?"Johnny thought about it for a moment. "I'll sell it to you.""Okay, let me take a look at the products, and I'll give you a price," the man said as he stepped forward.Handing the bottles over, Johnny watched as the man studied the contents and determined their worth. While Johnny could have made a bit more money if he sold it himself, it wouldn't really be worth it. The nectar wasn't a well sought after product. There wouldn't be a huge market for it. If it were a different product, that would be a different story. He would more likely get a lower price if he went around trying to sell it since he was essentially a nobody. Maybe if he searched hard enough, he could get a slightly better deal. However, it would take quite a bit of effort or time that he could be using to do other, more productive tasks. Finally, the man was finished in

Rachel stared at the strange man sitting across from her. She would have thought he would have tried to strike up a conversation with her once the waitress left, but he hadn't looked up from the menu since she sat down. She found it hard to believe he wouldn't try to flirt with her. After all, it wouldn't be the first time it happened, even though she was disguised. It was her natural beauty. The man made a strange noise, but she couldn't tell what happened with the menu in the way. She wondered what he had seen to make him sound like that. Staring at her own menu, she tried to see what could have drawn his attention. Nothing seemed to stand out. Well, it was none of her business what the man did, as long as she could eat her lunch in peace. She had been craving seafood and had worked hard to ditch her security detail to get there. Just thinking about having to go through so much effort to get away from them in order to eat was so frustrating. Of course she was going to be in trouble

Rachel didn't know what she was supposed to say to that. She hadn't expected him to give out his sob story about how he had been dumped by his girlfriend. It had been completely out of the blue. She eyed him warily, wondering what he could have done to make the woman dump him. He didn't look that bad, so it couldn't be his looks. Was it his personality?Johnny wanted to roll his eyes when he heard her thoughts. Of course, she was going to assume it was something he did instead of his ex girlfriend. It was quite annoying. Just because she was a woman didn't automatically mean she was the victim. Men could be victims of devious women too. Well, it wasn't like he expected her to sympathize with him."If that's all, I would like to get back to my phone," he said as he held up his phone for her to see.She pursued her lips before saying, "Actually, I want to know more about your situation. You can't just bring it up and not expect me to be curious."He grimaced. "I would rather not.""Why?

"Is something the matter? Your expression turned strange," Johnny said.Since he couldn't outright say anything that would let her know he knew what she was thinking, this was probably the closest he could get. Rachel immediately pressed a hand to her greasy mouth to see if her expression had really been that weird. It wasn't. She was actually good at hiding her expressions, but he wasn't going to let her know that."It's nothing," she said. That's when the waiter decided to arrive to return Johnny's debit card and receipt. He thanked the waiter as he put them away into his wallet. Johnny could feel Rachel's intense stare as he tried to come up with a reasonable response to get her off of him. What could he say that would make her not see him as a threat and leave him alone?"Well, it was nice chatting with you. I need to go to work now," he said as he stood up.Rachel stared at him suspciously as she asked, "Oh, what kind of work do you do?""I would rather not say. It's personal, an

"Oh, yes, he does," Johnny said after coming to a decision. The reporter's eyes glinted with greed and interest as she said, "Really?""He's a good man. He was worried about all the people still living here after the monster attack and came to check on us. It's nice to know that a blessed cares enough to personally check on us of his own accord," Johnny said, acting like he was a starstruck fan."I see," the reporter said, as if she couldn't decide if this information was good enough for her article."I'm sure you heard that he apprehended a deranged couple," he said. This definitely caught her interest, as she said, "Tell me more."Johnny paused to unlock his door and said, "I'm sure you're quite busy, but everyone here knows about it. In fact, I was pretty sure it was in the news.""It was," the reporter reluctantly said.He had to admit that she was quite persistent. Johnny had tried to pull the crazy fan card to discourage her from continuing. Unfortunately, that didn't work. That

Johnny had never seen so many zeros before, not even in the test world, which was saying something since his fake parents basically gave him everything. They had made sure he was never in want of anything. This much money would probably last him a lifetime several times over, even if he splurged like crazy. He wasn't even sure if he could waste all this money. The fact that the Burns family was willing to throw this much cash at him was fishy and made him suspicious about accepting the offer. Why were they so against him being a blessed? There had to be a reason behind it if they were willing to throw this much cash at him. It certainly wasn't anything to scoff at, even if he was certain that it wouldn't mean much to them."My employer would like an answer right away," the scarred man said. They weren't even giving him a chance to think about it. They clearly expected him to accept the offer without any hesitation. Honestly, he was very tempted. Anyone would be at the sight of money.

Johnny didn't bother checking his bank account or visiting his bank to find out if the money had come in. Instead, he was driving as fast as he could back to the apartment. He silently mourned losing out on the place. It hadn't been long since he moved in there, but he was going to have to move out already. He tried to call Frank again. However, there was no answer. Johnny wondered if it was because he knew about Johnny's situation ahead of time and cut ties with him. It wouldn't surprise Johnny if he did, but it did hurt to think that someone that he could finally count on turned his back on him. Well, he couldn't blame him. Johnny would have probably reacted the same way. Helping him was the same as jumping onto a sinking boat.He reached the apartment complex in record time as he considered what he could bring with him. There was no way he could bring his car. If he took it, they would instantly know he had left. They could also track him down using his car's description. He would

Hello everyone. I forgot to add a note in the previous chapter. Anyway, I just want to thank all my readers who have been following along. I really appreciate it. Now for the news you have been waiting for.Johnny's story has ended and turned out shorter than Billy's story like I expected. With its end, I currently have no ongoing stories on this site.I've decided I'll take a break from the site. How long the break will last I'm not quite sure. Hopefully, the break won't be long, and I have a new story up within the year, but we will have to see.Just like with Rise of the Demon King: Caleb Gonzales's Rat Race and Rise of the Desperate: Billy Wood's Save and Restart System, I might do a rewrite or remake of it.If I do go through with this idea, then I'll just immediately go to eBook and paperback, and it would be very different from the one here. We will have to see, and I'll let everyone know.As I stated before, if you want to stay in contact with me, you'll probably have to use F*

    Chapter 96: Deal (2)

"By the way, I don't mean to rush things, but the time limit for the hour is until I return," she said. That certainly caught Johnny's attention as he demanded, "How long is that?""A couple more minutes," she said.A couple minutes wasn't a lot of time to come to a life changing decision. He still needed more time to think. Did he really want to take a chance and accept the offer, which meant leaving everything he knew, or should he stay and weather whatever the system had in store for the world? Weighing the pros and cons of each decision, he could feel sweat forming on his head."I need to go. Have you come to a decision?" she asked. After a brief moment, he said, "Yes.""Well, what's your decision?" she asked."I'll take the offer," he said. She smiled as she said, "Good choice."Suddenly, Katherine slumped over alarming Johnny, who rushed to check up on her. "Okay, I'm listening," Johnny said."I'm glad to see you can be reasoned with. I've heard of others who aren't so fortunate," the intruder said."Others?" he said."We'll get to that later," she said as she attempted to make a waving motion.Unfortunately, Katherine's missing limbs made that a moot point. It honestly made Johnny uncomfortable seeing Katherine's body attempt to do something an ordinary person could do. He wasn't the only one put off by the situation. The intruder grimaced as she settled back into the wheelchair."Anyway, I'm here to give you a proposal from the system," the intruder said."What?" Johnny snapped."You heard me right. The system would like to offer you a deal, and it's up to you if you want to accept this," the intruder said.Johnny's mind whirled over what she said, scarcely believing what she just said. The system wanted to offer him a deal? This was completely unplanned. He had never heard of t

Johnny blinked. "Wait. EVeryone?"He couldn't believe what Frank was saying. Was he crazy? Did he really want to let the whole world know about the monsters being able to receive messages from the system? It would be complete chaos. Johnny was exactly advocating to tell no one. Far from it, but he couldn't see how it would help anyone to inform the public about this information."Well, not everyone," Frank said. "I'm referring to the authorities as this is a matter of security.""Will they take it seriously?" Johnny asked."It's hard to say. It's possible everyone will think it's a joke, but it's also possible that some will take the warning seriously," Frank said."I see," Johnny simply said."If that's all, I'm going to take my leave and let you get some rest," Frank said as he stood up.Johnny nodded. Chapter 93: Aftermath

Johnny's eyes snapped open as he sat up abruptly. His mind was moving at several miles per hour as he scanned his surroundings. He had to stop her before she got away. However, the monster was nowhere in sight. He wasn't sure how long he had been out cold, but he supposed it was a bit much to expect the monster to linger just because he told her to stop.More importantly, he was no longer in that place considering the lack of lava. Taking a good look at his surroundings, he deduced that he was back in his own world, which set him on edge. How did he get back? As he wondered who or what had brought him back, the door to the room swung open. He stared at the sight of Frank leading the backs of doctors and unknown men."Johnny, you're awake," Frank said as he rushed over to check on him.A tad bit uncomfortable with how Frank was acting, Johnny asked, "Frank, what happened?"Frank grimaced. "It's a bit of a long story. First, we should make sure you're okay."As soon as he said that, Fra

    Chapter 92: True Form

As Johnny stared at his mother, wondering why he felt uneasy about the whole thing, it finally clicked. "You're not my mother.""What are you talking about? Of course I'm your mother," she said.Johnny shook his head as he took on a relaxed stance. "No, you're not. I don't know why you're pretending to be here, but you should just give up now. It's not going to help you in the long run."The woman also dropped her stance and shrugged her shoulders as she said, "Well, this is unexpected. How did you know?"Rather than admit that it was just his gut instinct, he said, "I have no reason to tell you.""I suppose I should have figured you would say that," she said calmly. She was far too calm for his liking. He knew nothing about it here other than she was a fake, which didn't mean much in the end. It wasn't like he would have gone easier even if she was his mom. However, it did explain why she killed his father without batting an eye, but it begged the question of where his real mother wa

Chapter 91: Unexpected Turn of Events

Johnny ignored his father, as he was just relieved that his healing power and fire power helped him survive his father's attack. His fire power apparently gave him some resistance to fire, and his healing power healed whatever managed to get past his fire resistance. He took advantage of his father's shock to lunge at the man and return the favor. He landed several punches before his father recovered from his shock and shielded against the punches. Johnny didn't let up and continued to barrage his father with punches, hoping to get past his defenses and continue his original onslaught. After some time, his father apparently had enough and roared as he unleased a wave of flames. With a grunt, Johnny was forced back, though he was unharmed. His father glared venomously at him as he snarled, "That's enough. I'm going to end this."With a bravo that he didn't completely feel, Johnny said, "Just try it. You're just going to fail again."As his father was about

While Johnny didn't like the idea, he didn't have much of a choice. Sticking around wasn't going to do anything except waste time and put himself in possible danger. With no one else with him, he had no one he could rely on if he was suddenly attacked by a bunch of monsters, which was a serious risk. He didn't want to take that risk."Where do we meet up?" Johnny asked."We'll try to continue with the plan and head for the head of the family's office," Frank said.Just as Johnny was about to protest that idea, he heard a loud animalistic roar. He frantically checked his surroundings and didn't see anything. Before he could feel relieved, he heard screams and shouts on the other side. He placed his hands on the rubble, hoping to at least find a small opening to get a better look at what was happening."Frank? What's going on? Are you okay?" Johnny asked frantically. There was no response except more shouting and fighting. He was completely in the da

Chapter 89: Confronting the Burns Family

Even though Johnny had said he wasn't going to let the matter go, wasn't it a bit much to storm the Burns family's home just days after his decision? He thought it would take a couple weeks to prepare. They couldn't take down such a powerful family in just a few days. What was everyone thinking? He wondered if they all had lost their minds."Johnny, is something the matter?" Frank asked as the car headed for their intended destination. "You don't look good.""I just can't believe we're moving in now," Johnny said."You have nothing to worry about. Everything has already been sorted out," FRank said."Are you really sure we're good to go?" Johnny asked."You have nothing to worry about. The plan was already in motion before you decided to throw your hat in the ring. It's been modified to include your involvement," Frank said.Frank might have said it to reassure Johnny, but it didn't in the slightest. Johnny had been at the meeting discussing
