Rereading the quest descriptions again, he realized that his initial assumption was wrong. While it was true the quests assigned to him seemed to want opposing results, there was a third option. If he could get the prophets to remain neutral, then he would be able to fulfill both quests. He was a bit disappointed that he couldn't have them completely loyal to him, but it was impossible.

Since he was the new demon king, making the prophets his allies would mean it counted as them becoming allies with demons. Technically, he could still go through with it and purposely fail the quest assigned to him by the angels' system, but he would rather not go through another punishment so soon. Also, he couldn't be sure how bad the punishment would be, so he wasn't willing to test it.

Luke turned his attention back to the elderly woman as she said, "I'm afraid our leader is indisposed. You can't expe

"No, we don't," Luke said.Grace stared at him in shock as the elderly woman asked, "Are you saying you're against the agreement?""Of course. Everything so far has been to your benefit. I practically get nothing out of it," he said."The last demon king agreed to leave us in peace as long as we remain neutral. I don't see why it's any different now," the elderly woman said.Luke heavily doubted that the two situations were remotely the same. While he didn't know exactly how the confrontation and agreement between the two happened, he couldn't imagine it being like this. She was demanding a lot of things from him just so they could reach the exact same agreement the prophets had with the previous demon king. She was basically acting like he was the weaker party in the negotiations whe

"You seem to have a lot on your mind. Would you mind letting this granny know what you're thinking about?" the elderly woman asked, reminding Luke that he wasn't alone."Actually, there's a lot I want to share with you, but first there's something I want to know. What's the real reason you offered Tracy up?" he asked.Instead of answering his question, she asked, "What do you mean?""I don't find your reasons convincing enough," he said as he crossed his arms. "You spoke cruelly to her, but I think you were only doing that to push her away so she would want to leave of her own free will.""She's my granddaughter, so of course I'll be harsh on her. Life as a prophet isn't an easy one, you know," she said."You don't have to pretend. She isn't here to hear what you have to say," he said."I don't know what you're talking about," she said."Let's be honest here. I sent her away with Grace for a reason," he said. The elderly

As soon as Luke exited the tent, he was surrounded by his group, with Chris demanding, "What was taking you so long?"Luke held up his hands as he said, "I was trying to convince her that we needed to work together."This seemed to mollify them slightly, but then Santiago asked, "What's the deal with the girl with Grace? I didn't bring it up before, but who is she?"All eyes turned to Grace and Tracy, who had been talking quietly in their corner, with the latter still looking upset. Luke would have to speak with Tracy later to inform her of her grandmother's decision. He was certain that she would put up a fight and argue with her grandmother to take it back, but the decision had been made. Once she got over it, he was going to officially add her to his harem. He grimaced. This wasn't something he had imagined when he

Before he had time to even think, the man was standing in front of Luke. Everyone tensed, unsure of what they should do. No one knew what to expect from the man, and they could only watch as he loomed over Luke. Luke inwardly cursed himself for letting himself be caught off guard. He had to admit, however, that the man was strong if he could move that quickly."I would like to thank you for taking good care of my daughter," the man said.It didn't take a genius to know who he was talking about. There was only one girl from the camp they knew, and all eyes were on Tracy, who was doing her best not to look in his direction. The man didn't seem to be bothered by this, and Luke wondered if they had a bad relationship. It seems likely that it was only from Tracy's side since the man didn't seem upset or angry with her."It wasn't any problem, sir," he said a

The moment they found a secluded spot, Tracy spun around and said, "You."Unfazed and a little bit amused by her behavior, Luke said, "Yes?""Take it back," she demanded."Take back what?" he asked."Don't play with me. I know you agreed to my grandmother's terms about me being a part of your harem. Tell her that you changed your mind," she said."Why would I do that?" he asked as he crossed his arms. "What do I benefit from this?"Tracy gnashed her teeth together, but she remained silent. She obviously didn't think this through when she decided to confront him about the deal he made with her grandmother. Luke, on the other hand, had the foresight to suspect this would happen. When he thought about it, he realized how ironic it was that she was the prophet and not him.He must have let out a small laugh as she demanded, "What's so funny?"Deciding to roll with it, he said, "I was just thinking how you're nothing like your grandmother. "Do you see the demons?" asked Chris as he peered over the edge of the ledge he was stationed at."I see them," said Bobby from his location several rooftops away.Hearing their voices through the stone in his hand nearly made Luke cry with tears of joy. He finally got his hands on a valuable item. It was something meant to let people communicate over long distances. Of course, it was quite subjective about what was considered long distance. The stone in his hand only had a maximum range of the whole town, which wasn't much. However, for their purposes, it was plenty. Unfortunately, they couldn't keep them, which was something Luke mourned over. If he had known about them having valuable items, he would have demanded them as payment for his help. It should have been the first thing to come to mind, but he had been distracted when he had demanded payment

"We need backup over here," someone suddenly said through the stone.Luke didn't recognize who the speaker was as Cedric demanded, "What's happening over there?""There's a troll," the person said before they were cut off by a scream.Everyone exchanged worried glances as Cedric tried to get in contact with the person again to no avail. Trolls were far bigger and dumber than hobgoblins. However, they were far more durable, and their sense of smell was stronger. That itself wasn't a problem. The problem was that there had been no news of a troll before. The prophets had said they'd only seen mostly goblins and hobgoblins roaming around in town. There had been the occasional orc and ogre, but no mention of trolls. The fact that they had somehow missed a hulking demon was a big red sign that they might have missed more th

"There was a woman. She was leading the troll," Boyd said."What?" Cedric said.Luke's attention was fully on the conversation, as Boyd said, "She told it to attack us before telling it to follow her. I'm not sure which way she went, but I think she's going to attack one of the other groups."This was bad. Luke didn't think one of the higher demons would actually show up here. He had assumed they would only send their minions to do their dirty work. This completely changed things more than if it had been just the troll. None of them knew what they were up against, as it was clear Boyd didn't know anything about her as she had chosen to stay on the sidelines the entire time.At least he was able to tell them what she looked like before he finally succumbed to his injuries. It wasn't much, but it was better than nothing.

    Chapter 389: The End

"The clean up is doing well," 'Kayla' said as she stood before Luke, who was sitting on the throne.Instead of responding to her, he gave a nod before looking to the next person. The corners of his mouth twitched as he wanted to frown. The previous demon king's women were staring at him, waiting patiently for him to finish his work. He didn't know what Mildred said to them, but they were all now convinced that they should try to seduce him.[They are strong women, so you shouldn't have any complaints about adding them to your harem.]Luke was unamused by the demon king's words. He knew very well that Luke hadn't been interested in building a harem. It was really bad enough that he had four women to contend with. Speaking of them, the quartet came walking into the throne room, with Grace taking the lead. She was looking well despite having only recovered yesterday."Luke, are you still in your meeting?" she asked as Tracy, Violet, and Ruth kept to her sides.Standing up, Luke said, "It'

Everyone stared in disbelief. How were they supposed to react to this sudden reveal? They had expected it to be a big deal because of the system's threat, but this was way behind anything they could have imagined. Luke distracted himself from the implications to assess everyone's reactions. Chris's mouth had dropped open while Bobby looked ill.Violet, on the other hand, was doing a good job keeping herself together, though it was just barely. Her fists were clenched, with her nails digging into her palm. Theodore was the only odd one out. He was quickly shocked by the information, but he appeared to be the calmest of the bunch. Luke couldn't decide if that was a good or bad thing as he returned his attention back to the system.Chris ended up being the first to break the silence. Luke couldn't believe it. The creator had actually been telling the truth when they said they could go home if they did enough to entertain them. He should be happy, but he was strangely numb about the reward. Perhaps it was because he had become used to the idea that he would never see his family again. That was why hearing the contrary left him with conflicted feelings."We can go home," Chris said in awe.A quick look at his party members was enough to tell Luke how overjoyed they were at the idea. After Luke had told them it was impossible, they had been resigned to never return back to their family and friends. It was why they had so willingly joined his side and turned their backs on the angels. However, a part of them had hoped that Luke was wrong."I wonder how everyone's been doing," Bobby said.Chris wrapped his arms around him and said, "I can't wait to see everyone."Violet had a soft smile, while Theodore only grunted. It couldn't understand what was happening. The creator could feel itself being torn away from its vessel against its will. This couldn't be happening. It was the creator. Everything went exactly as it wanted. There was no way it could lose to a human that had been originally brought into this world as nothing more than a tool. However, despite its efforts, it was being forced out by the sword in its chest. What was it? It couldn't be an ordinary weapon. Even when it was being injured, it had only been because the creator allowed it. Otherwise, the people wouldn't be able to actually harm it. Reaching out towards Luke and the sword again, it felt the sword pulse. Suddenly, the creator found its unable to move. An invisible force was keeping it from moving. The creator couldn't believe it. Such a thing had never happened before. The only possible reason that the creator could think of was that the sword contained a fragment of its power. However, that couldn't be it. The creator's eyes rolled upward, and he spotted Takisha standing on its neck. Takisha didn't waste a second to bite her teeth in the creator's throat. She grimaced at the vile taste filling her mouth. Considering this was supposed to be the creator possessing a human, she would have thought the blood would taste delicious. Instead, it was probably the most disgusting blood she had ever tasted.Takisha wasn't even sure it was blood. Dirt tasted better than this. However, she focused on injecting her venom into the creator. A shadow loomed over her as the creator raised a hand to rush her. She didn't immediately run, and her faith was rewarded when vines and thorns wrapped around the creator's hand. Blood spilled from where the thorns pierced its skin.Of course, this wasn't enough to stop it for long. The creator ripped free, but its attention had been successfully redirected to Mildred, who unleased several arrows in its direction before running. It deflected them and rushed to crush

The creator was beginning to grow bored. Luke had disappeared off to who knew where, leaving them to deal with the rabble. None of them stood a chance against them. Of course, Luke being there wouldn't have changed much either, but this was supposed to be a game between them. If he wasn't there, then what was the point? They were debating whether they should cut the game short and simply end things when they heard a familiar voice shout, "Move!"Instantly, the creator raised a clawed hand to catch the arrow that had been shot in their direction. Their eyes spotted a familiar dark elf notching another arrow into her bow. So it looked like Luke had rescued the women that they had knocked out. They could have simply killed them and been done with it, but the creator had ultimately decided not to bother.Who would have expected that Luke would go rescue the

"What's this?" Luke muttered as he stared at the emergency quest.Luke never expected the system itself to give out a quest to defeat the creator. He would have thought it would be on their side since it was created by the system. Perhaps it saw the creator as a threat and wanted them to be dealt with. It sent shivers down his spine to see the quest, and he looked up to see that the others in the room were also reading a message from the system."Did you also receive the same quest as me?" he asked, though he already knew the answer."What's this nonsense?" demanded the succubus. "Defeat the creator? I've never heard such a thing.""There has to be a mistake," the dark elf said as she crossed her arms. "Why would we fight against our creator?"Laurel looked towards Luke and demanded,
