"It's really getting crazy here," Tracy said as she urged the horse to go faster.
It had no problem going faster, though it probably wanted to go in the opposite direction, but it had no choice except to follow Tracy's instructions. The demon wolves were persistently chasing after their cart. They normally would have gotten off to deal with them, but they were cutting it close enough as it was. As the party had worried, they hadn't reached the city within the five days they calculated.
In fact, it was the seventh day. They still had several hours left before they officially failed the quest, so they couldn't afford to stop even for a moment, which was why they left most of the fighting to their two archers. Since everyone else needed to be in close range to fight, it was inconvenient for them to fight on the cart. Of course, Bobby and Chris were not happy with the arrangement.
It was easier said than done when the people spotted them and seemed to hurry even more to get on the boats. Luke wasn't sure why they reacted that way, but he knew that it wouldn't work. Even if they did avoid the demon attack, they would have no way of returning back to the city and would either have to go to another place or wait for someone to liberate their home.Luke had seen it happen enough times to know they should stop doing such a pointless act. It wasted everyone's time and made things more difficult. The party was able to reach the docks before all the people could get one. Theodore grabbed one of the people by the collar and raised him up into the air. The man gasped as his hands went to his throat, and he kicked his legs."Where are you going?" Theodore asked. The man whimpered as he begged, "Let me go. I don't want to die."
Neither of them talked any further, as they saw that demons had already broken into the city. Without hesitation, they threw themselves into the fight. Luke drew Illumina for this fight instead of using the enchanted sword. It was far more effective at slicing up the demons compared to the other sword, which was expected. If it couldn't do that much, then it was worthless. As he cut another demon in half, Violet jumped past him as she threw her daggers at the demons trying to gang up on him from behind. They struck their targets in the eye, blinding them. She ducked as he swung his claymore to separate their heads from their bodies. The moment the heads hit the ground, she quickly retook her daggers and moved on to the next demon. It didn't take them long to wipe out all the nearby demons, as the smarter ones had fled the moment they realized they didn't stand a chance against the 'heroe
Grace watched as Theodore massacred the demons in front of her. She didn't even have to raise a hand to help, not that he would have let her. He had made sure to make it clear to her that he wanted to handle them all on his own. Apparently, he wanted to determine how much stronger she had gotten in comparison to the demons. Looking at the stats wasn't enough for him.Since there were no people for her to heal either, she had absolutely nothing to do. She wasn't even worried that a demon would attack her since Thedoroe was so efficient at taking care of them. It was so one sided that she almost felt sorry for the demons. Watching Theodore smash another demon's head into the wall of the building, she didn't flinch.Soon the fight was over, and she quickly rushed to his side to inspect him for any injuries. He seemed okay, but she should check anyway just in case he had been hurt. Looking h
It didn't take long for the duo to bump into the rest of the party. Interestingly, the group that looked like it had suffered the most was the one with three members. Staring at the haggard forms of Bobby, Chris, and Tracy, Luke couldn't help wondering what was wrong with them. If anyone should have looked exhausted, it should have been Theodore and Grace.Since Grace was the healer, she should either be tired from fighting the demons or have been forced to stay on the sidelines by Theodore. Either way, Theodore should be tired from fighting the demons basically by himself. However, he didn't seem to be tired, nor did he appear to have any injuries. Of course, Grace could have healed him before they met back up, but Luke had a feeling that wasn't the case.Luke didn't think for a moment that the blood on Theodore could belong to anything other than the demons. Considering the strength of
"Now that's settled, we should interrogate the natives," Violet said once everyone stopped getting excited over the stats."How are we supposed to do that? They're in the boats out at sea," Chris said as he made gestures with his hands."I mean, we could try swimming, but I'm not exactly sure how well that would work out here," said Bobby as he scanned the party."I don't know how to swim," Grace mumbled to herself. If it weren't for how quiet the whole place was, they wouldn't have been able to hear her. Everyone except Luke grimaced. Luke already knew she couldn't swim, as it was something that had come up in the previous life. He had also been someone who couldn't swim along with Joshua. The only people who knew how to swim at the time were Bobby and Chris."Who else doesn't know how to swim?" Violet asked, implying that she could swim."I'm good," Tracy said as she held a hand up, which defeated the purpose of answering Violet's question. When no one else spoke up, Grace wilted ev
The news instantly got everyone's attention, and they rushed to fight over the spyglass to see if what he said was true. Eventually, everyone had been convinced that the 'heroes' had left, leaving the city wrecked and abandoned. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but they hadn't seen any other option once they heard about the demon attack and the news of the 'heroes' coming. No one had wanted to get into the middle of that. They had heard plenty of horror stories involving the 'heroes' and demons over the past year. There was no way they could put their faith in the new 'heroes'. They were very different from what they had expected when they heard they were being summoned, and it left everyone disgruntled. Why were they the unfortunate ones to receive defective 'heroes'? The 'heroes' should be doing everything in their power to kill the demons for them, not roll over and die the moment they encounter one or cause trouble for the people. No, there was no way they could have stayed in the
Grace kept shooting glances at Luke, who shooed her off to work her magic. The others were skeptical about his plan, but it was the only one that he had determined would be quick and effective. He wouldn't have thought to send her out and rely heavily on her ability to make people like her to work under normal circumstances.Once she was standing in front of the crowd with everyone else behind her, she said, "Thank you for your cooperation. We're very grateful for everyone's help."The natives stared incredulously at her as if they couldn't believe what she just said. Well, the party wasn't doing any better, and they had already heard about Luke's plan. Theodore looked ready to storm over and help her out, but Luke signaled to him to stay put until they were absolutely certain the plan had failed. However, he was pretty sure it would work. At least eighty percent sure."I know this is a lot, but we ask you to continue to support us so we can create a safer place against the demons. Th
[Quest][Demon Attack on Gartlev][You have helped protect the town within twelve days from the demon attack.][Quest Reward][You will be given 10 gold.][You may select one of the following Rare items.]"Whoa, we really speedran this quest," Chris said as he stared at the message from the system."No kidding. I thought for sure we would be cutting it close again," Bobby said as he went to retrieve his arrows.Even though the distance between Estantor and Gartlev was shorter than when they had to travel to Estantor from Sylgen, they had still believed they would encounter a similar situation as in the last quest. However, not only had they encountered fewer demons during the trip, but the weather had been on their side for once, so they were able to reach their destination with a day to spare."I'm glad the people were more willing to listen," Grace said as she smiled. "They were really helpful.""That's true," Luke conceded as he nodded his head toward her. "It was good that the peo
