Chapter 12: Ruin
The eagle sharply landed a few meters away from the obelisk.
Walking towards a gate like passage, the three young men gradually stood before a stone slab with some vague writings on it.
"Can you read this? Try and see if you can memorize it." Zayn looked at the writings strangely.
I seem to recognize a bit of this language. He reasoned.
After about 1 minute, Zayn handed a piece of paper to Kai, who fiercely scribbled on it. The paper was soon covered in the exact same writings engraved on the tablet.
Scanning the writings and cross referencing them with his database, Zayn quickly made quick work of it.
"You still use paper? So old fashioned." Kai smirked.
Zayn paid him no heed and directly spoke, "Got it. I remember where I'd seen this before! Let's move."
"But what about those guys? They already went in! Aren't we looking for the same thing?" Lynn pried.
"Even if we are, they're probably going the wrong way." Zayn assured.
Taking out a triangular stone carving with a strange engraving on its surface, Zayn walked towards an inconspicuous part of the obelisk, where there was a triangular hole on the wall. He wasted no time and directly putting the stone carving into the space. A rumbling sound echoed, and a small gate opened.
The three of them walked in, with Zayn in the lead.
The gate closed shut.
"Where is this place?" Kai looked around in the somewhat dark area.
Snap!
A bright glow radiated from Zayn's hand, which illuminated the entire place.
"Whoa! This is unreal!" Kai exclaimed as he looked at a large hall like structure with different statues lined up at different sides of the walls.
"Aren't pyramids supposed to be an Egyptian thing? Why do these statues look Mayan?" Kai pointed at a statue of a huge feathered serpent staring into the distance.
"First, we're in an obelisk. And second, Mayans did use pyramids. Egyptians used pyramids to bury dead pharaohs. I never really did know what Mayans used pyramids for anyways. Maybe it was to hide treasures or something." Zayn corrected.
"Yeah. Really smart." Kai smiled sarcastically. Zayn scoffed. Dummy, he thought.
"That's Kulkulkan, the god of wind. That's Ixtab, the god of suicide...damn, is this a pantheon? Why are there so many statues of ancient gods here? And how did Electrode's heart come to be here? Was he a Mayan before the Invasion?" Zayn was puzzled.
The three of them gradually came to a statue of a humanoid figure holding a huge axe. The statue's eyes seemed to be looking directly at the three, giving them a slight chill.
"Who's this dude?" Kai popped a question.
"That's Chaac, the god of rain and lightning. And given that Electrode's power was lightning, it's a pretty obvious choice that this is our next stop. Maybe we could find something." Zayn answered.
Under the statue, there was an ancient looking scroll and a bottle of ink hidden inconspicuously at a corner.
The three of them picked up the scroll and the bottle of ink and looked at them confusedly.
"What are these for?" Lynn inquired.
"More importantly, who the hell uses scrolls? And ink? So ancient." Kai scoffed.
"Hmm. There are some writings on the scroll. These are the same as the one on the outside! No. It seems like it's a second part of the writing." Zayn exclaimed.
"Really? What does it say?" Kai leaned over.
"Hmm...let's see..."
"To awaken, ignite the darkest fires within the depths of your soul, and discover the true sense of self." Zayn read.
"What? I don't get it." Kai mumbled.
"Pretty sure no one asked you if you did." Zayn jabbed at him.
"Shut up, prick!" Kai growled.
"Ooh. Scary." Zayn laughed, waving his hands slightly.
Lynn rubbed the scroll faintly, taking it from Zayn. As he traced his fingers around the scroll, faint dust covering away a bit of the edges slowly fell off the paper, revealing a set of numbers.
"What are those? Some sort of coordinates or something?" Kai looked at the numbers of the scroll in confusion.
"Hmm. The numbers are 3, 1 and 3. What do they mean? Are they some kind of secret code?" Zayn mumbled as he stared closely at the statue, looking to see if there was anything out of the ordinary.
"I can't find anything out of the ordinary. Kai, use your ability. Try to see if there's anything we've missed." Zayn ordered.
"Hey. Don't go ordering me around! Sigh. Why do I always indulge you?" Kai grudgingly activated his Esper ability as his genetic energy surged.
Esper Ability, [Bio-Physical Augmentation]!
'With Kai's eyes, I'm sure we're going get to the bottom of this. Let's get this over with. I keep having a bad feeling about this. Come to think of it, where did those guys go? I'm sure they must be in another part of this ruin, but where? Are they after Electrode's heart too?' Zayn contemplated.
Kai's eyes scanned the statue from top to bottom.
"Guys! I see something! Come take a look at this!" Kai shouted. His voice echoed around the ruin, giving the place a kind of spooky feeling.
Kai's hand punched an opening in one part of the statue, revealing a small rectangular object with five smaller orb like implements with a number 0 on each of them.
"I'm guessing the three numbers we saw earlier must be part of this five numbered code, but what are the other two?" Lynn said calmly.
"The numbers we saw were 3,1 and 3 right?" Kai asked.
"Yeah." Zayn mumbled.
"Okay. If we directly correspond these numbers with the letters of the alphabet, we get..." Kai emphasized.
"C, A, and C!" Zayn's eyes widened slowly.
"And what god's statue is this? I don't think I need to tell you anymore, smart guy!" Kai smiled.
"Good job, smart guy! I didn't know you had it in you! Who knew you'd be so friggin smart!" Zayn laughed.
"You're being sarcastic again. Aren't you?" Kai thinned his lips.
"Yes. Yes, I am." Zayn didn't even try to hide it.
"Still doesn't change the fact that I found out something you couldn't! Chew on that!" Kai blew a raspberry.
"Meh. Stop behaving like a kid. It doesn't suit ya." Zayn joked.
"What are you two doing? Did you forget we have something to do here?" Lynn burst their bubble.
"Right." Both of them answered.
Zayn drew closer to the rectangular object, flipping the numbers until they spun to indicate the numbers 3, 8, 1, 1, 3.
A second later, a loud rumbling sound echoed, and a tunnel like passage revealed itself to the three.
"Let's go." Zayn announced.
"Hey. Are you sure that bird is gonna be okay?" Kai abruptly asked, causing the two of them to stare at him.
"Why do you care? Forget it, you see this?—" Zayn showed them a bracelet of his right hand. "Let's me monitor the bird's vitals and condition. It also let's me send a signal to it, with coordinates of our location. If anything goes south, we go up. On the bird's back, I mean." Zayn explained.
"You're aren't afraid of the dark, are you?" He added.
"No!" Kai shouted, turning into a human shaped blur and running into the tunnel.
"Yep. He's afraid of the dark. So funny." Zayn chuckled.
His body released faint sparks of electricity as he rushed after Kai.
Lynn's silhouette disappeared shortly after.

Chapter 13: Electrode's Heart! After navigating through the dark passage and narrowly avoiding some insidious traps placed by God-knows-who, the three boys soon found themselves in a large room with a statue of a man holding a huge axe in his right hand, and a bright glowing octahedral crystal in his left. "Electrode's heart! This is going to be a piece of cake—" Before his happiness could get to the three boys, they soon found out that they were not the only ones in the room. "Oh shit. Really? Is this some kind of sick plot or something?" Zayn moaned. There they were, the seven figures they met earlier, standing in a corner of the room. Well, one of them was trying to reach for the shiny golden axe about twenty meters above their heads. Leaping up to grab ahold of the axe, a lean man with short spiky black hair with traces of white streaks on it swiped the axe off the statue. "I don't know why you were so cautious. This was easy." Handing the axe over to the purple clad man, t
Chapter 14: Kai's Rage, Zayn's Decision A dark aura covered every part of the man's body as a wicked smirk appeared on his face. Two barbed horns jutted out of his forehead as his ears grew as long and pointy as an elf's. His eyes took on a dark shade of red; and from his back grew two enormous bat wings. His whole body turned a pale shade of white, with black markings spread all over it. His fingers gradually elongated into claws as did his legs. From his rear, a wicked looking nine feet long tail could be seen. With a dark smirk on his face, he looked absolutely menacing. "What's wrong? Have you lost your confidence?" He demanded evilly. Vrrr! The sound of air vibrating could be heard as the monstrous looking demon like creature disappeared from their vision. Swish! The three boys quickly ducked, hurriedly avoiding the sharp muscular tail that whipped fiercely at them. The tail swiped forward like a weapon of death, narrowly missing the boys' heads. Zayn grabbed his head w
Chapter 15: History "Wha— where am I? What is this place?" Zayn looked around the dark space with confusion. The place was totally devoid of light, with an endless darkness that seemed to devour everything. Fumbling around in the dark place, Zayn found that he could no longer access his ability, nor even use an ounce of genetic energy. He felt that this was all a dream to him, like he was in this place; and yet he was not. Like some sort of... "Astral Projection. That's what's on your mind right?" An old voice stated. "Well, if you did think that, you would be right. You see...I have brought your consciousness into my inner world. My world of dreams." An old man, with a head full of white hair tied up in an elegant ponytail; and a face covered in wrinkles slowly appeared in front of Zayn. He looked scrawny, and seemed to be at least in his eighties. His black robe snugly and comfortably fit his body like a glove. His eyes were hidden behind all the wrinkles, but he gave off a fee
Chapter 1: Battle Looking out through the vast expanse of the galaxy, billions of faint glowing lights could be seen, evidence of the stars that lit up the dark recesses of space. Asteroids could be seen drifting, sometimes clashing with each other, giving the somewhat dark place a chaotic feeling. Planets could be seen maintaining vast distances with one another, some inhabitable, others desolate. On a rocky planet, vast amounts of spaceships could be seen around its atmosphere, most of them looking incredibly flashy and futuristic.Thousands of satellite looking objects were positioned at various corners of this planet. Two men stood on the terrain of a savannah like area, facing each other like birds of prey. One of them had silky waist length crimson red hair, that glistened under the light, giving off a cool feeling. He looked to be like someone in his thirties and wore a calm expression on his face that looked as if nothing could faze him. The coat-tails of his luxurious blac
Chapter 2: Menace Blare! The sounds of police car sirens resounded through the streets as a group of cars chased a figure in a black motorcycle that revved at high speeds. A figure rode on the motorcycle as he deftly manoeuvred around the busy streets of Night City, chasing after a flamboyant car that hovered a few inches off the ground while being pursued by a bunch of red and blue vehicles that relentlessly tried to capture him. The figure took out a gun with faint pulsing blue lights of its barrel, and shot at the flamboyant car. The bullets pulsated with a blue glow, with trace evidence of an electromagnetic nature of some sort. The bullets clashed against the car's body, causing faint sparks to appear. The roof of the car suddenly opened, and two men holding guns violently shot glowing purple bullets that whizzed speedily towards the figure in the motorcycle. The figure in the motorcycle made a swift turn, and easily manoeuvre around the bullets, which hit against one of t
Chapter 3: ArrestThe figure quietly looked at the police vehicles that stopped in front of him. Groups of cold faced police officers looked at him with piercing cold eyes.Dressed in cool looking armor, with a design of blue, red and black colours that looked aesthetically pleasing to the eye and a holster that each held a gun of some sort on their waists, the police radiated an intimidating aura. The word "police" was beautifully printed on the backs of the armor in a milky white colour as the ranks of each officer was attached to the left arms of the armor in a dark purple red theme. All in all, with their imposing demeanor, the police looked like people one would not easily provoke, and yet the figure was calm, unfazed even, as he stared at them with blue lights."I will only say this once more. It would be in your best interest if you were to lay down your weapons and surrender." The husky voice spoke again, this time from one of the car
Chapter 4: Skylark Academy"Zayn! Zayn! Come down and get your breakfast so you can get ready for school! We don't wanna be late now do we?" A faint shouting voice resounded in Zayn's ears as he groggily mumbled."Mm...mm...Yes...I'm a princess...a pretty little princess..." He grinned sleepily."ZAYN! Get the hell down here!" A loud voice screamed."Huh? Huh? Mm...coming!" He said faintly as he rubbed his eyes."Sigh. Another boring day." He got down from his bed, stretched his waist and did a brief morning workout. Rushing into the bathroom, he grabbed his toothbrush from a small robot, sloshing toothpaste on it as he began to brush his teeth. Washing his face with some water and removing his clothes, he smiled as he looked at the mirror. The mirror reflected the tall slender figure of an eighteen year old, with faint abs on his body and a prominent tattoo of an eagle like bird spreading its four wings on his back. His face was slightly handsome, with dark eyes and silky shoulder l
Chapter 5: Team Black"So hey dawgs! How've you been these past three months? Getting ready to breakthrough to Beta grade?" Kai asked enthusiastically as he looked at Zayn and Lynn."Not exactly there yet. But it wouldn't be too much of a stretch if you were to say that I am half a foot into the Beta." Zayn said lazily."Well, I think that you would be pleasantly surprised to find out that I am in the Gamma grade, level II to be prescise." Kai said with undisguised narcissism."Yay! Good for you." Zayn replied sarcastically."Hey, what's that mean?" Kai glared at Zayn with mock anger."It means what it means." Zayn closed his eyes."It means you're jealous. You're finally the weakest among us. Ha! How's that feel?" Kai laughed."..." Zayn kept mute.Seeing that Zayn wasn't going to accede to his antics, Kai's eyes turned to Lynn."How about you? What level have you reached?" He inquired."Beta level III." Lynn coldly spoke."Huh? Shit! You're above me again? What food do you eat to in
