Chapter 5: Team Black

"So hey dawgs! How've you been these past three months? Getting ready to breakthrough to Beta grade?" Kai asked enthusiastically as he looked at Zayn and Lynn.

"Not exactly there yet. But it wouldn't be too much of a stretch if you were to say that I am half a foot into the Beta." Zayn said lazily.

"Well, I think that you would be pleasantly surprised to find out that I am in the Gamma grade, level II to be prescise." Kai said with undisguised narcissism.

"Yay! Good for you." Zayn replied sarcastically.

"Hey, what's that mean?" Kai glared at Zayn with mock anger.

"It means what it means." Zayn closed his eyes.

"It means you're jealous. You're finally the weakest among us. Ha! How's that feel?" Kai laughed.

"..." Zayn kept mute.

Seeing that Zayn wasn't going to accede to his antics, Kai's eyes turned to Lynn.

"How about you? What level have you reached?" He inquired.

"Beta level III." Lynn coldly spoke.

"Huh? Shit! You're above me again? What food do you eat to increase your power this fast. Or are you sacrificing your hair in exchange for power. Last I checked, your hair was a bit longer. Wow. Are you going to become Saitama? Or...or Lex Luthor?" Kai stammered in disbelief.

"Shut it, dickhead. Stop pestering the guy." Zayn gave him a whack on the head.

"Ow! You know I can whoop your ass now, right? But seriously, why haven't you advanced dude? You should have been at the Beta grade by now." Kai asked curiously. Lynn also turned his head towards him, expectantly awaiting an answer.

"Hm. I dunno. Guess I'm just..." Zayn made a fist slightly.

"A bit late is all." He finished his sentence with a sigh.

The two looked at each other and wryly shrugged. Getting the message, they no longer bothered Zayn with too many questions.

"Ah, forget it. Anyway, did you guys see Mira today? F**k, she is smoking hot!" Kai lightened the slightly gloomy mood with a question.

"Nah. I think you're just a perv." Zayn smiled happily. Having friends that understood you was really nice.

Lynn nodded in agreement.

"What? Is that what you guys think about me?...don't answer that...well, maybe I am a bit cultured..." Kai smiled narcissistically as Zayn nodded.

"What cultured? You're just a horny perv." Zayn and Kai laughed.

Lynn too, had his lips curled up into a faint grin.

The three of them looked especially handsome in their purple uniforms, and as they walked, the students eyes couldn't help but look towards their direction. The junior females had a burning fire in their eyes as they stared at the trio. Some of the senior females looked at them with a lustful glint. 

As for the boys, the freshmen and the relatively junior students couldn't help but admire the cool looking appearance of the three. As for the seniors, some of them looked at them with respect and awe while some trembled in fear.

"Senior, who are those three?" A beautiful female couldn't help but ask a male senior that stood before her.

"Oh. You don't know? Well. Those three, as you so incongruently put it, are one of the most powerful Combat Teams the Skylark Academy has amongst the Sixth-Year Students; Zayn Reeves, Kai Mito and Lynn Valko — Team Black." The senior pushed his glasses forward as he said in an awe-inspiring voice.

"Team Black? It sounds so...simple." The girl muttered in a low voice.

"I know, right?" The senior said as the girl immediately flushed red in embarrassment. She didn't not think that anyone would hear her.

The senior did not mind and kept on explaining, "Regardless of the name, they are one of the strongest Combat Teams in the academy after all. So pretty much few people in the school dare call them out on it. But do take note: even if you were to offend anyone of them, absolutely DO NOT offend that guy." The senior pointed a finger at Zayn's direction. Zayn glanced at him with a casual look, and cold sweat immediately appeared on his face.

Zayn didn't think too much of it and walked away with his pals, seemingly enjoying the scenery as he walked in the direction of a large hall.

Kai looked at him and grinned.

"Seems like a lot of people are scared of you. I think we better keep our distance, for our own safety." He laughed.

"Just buzz off will ya?" Zayn smiled.

The senior heaved a relieved sigh. But the female junior didn't seem to share his sentiment as she said in a dreamy voice.

"I think he looks kinda cool." She was one step away from running off to proclaim her eternal love to Zayn before the senior patted her shoulder as he said in a friendly voice.

"That's what everyone thinks. And some idiots tend to underestimate him because of that and foolishly challenge him to a fight. And then...bad things happen." The senior said with a tinge of fear in his voice.

The female was indignant, but she said nothing.

"Who are the other two?" She asked curiously.

"The one with the blonde hair and the handsome face is Kai Mito. Although not as terrifying as Zayn, he still stands at the top of the ladder, ranking 3rd in the Division Rankings. It's said that he has a total of three genetic Esper abilities, two of which enhanced his eyes greatly. He's very strong."

"The other guy with the red scarf is Lynn Valko. Not much is known about his powers, but given that the other two treat him with so much respect, he mustn't be weak. I think he might be the strongest amongst them. Many people have always wanted to know who was the strongest person among them, but the three of them have been very secretive. Only the three of them and those who have personally fought them can gauge their power." The senior spoke matter-of-factly.

"Wow. They must be very strong then. I hope I can get to join their team someday." The girl spoke hopefully.

"Forget it." The boy dashed her hopes as he continued, "Over the years, many people have tried to join Team Black, but they never succeeded. And they stopped trying, I guess, maybe Team Black is just a three man thing." He shrugged.

Walking into the large hall, Zayn, Lynn and Kai were greeted with the sight of over 300 students wearing the same purple uniforms as them shuffling around as they reached for a seat. It seemed the debriefing was about to begin.

Just then, a group of ten females walked into the Hall, stealing the attention of everyone with their enchanting beauty as they sashayed around with faint steps. They each had a red armband with a golden colored orchid imprinted on it. 

"Shut up! Is that Mira?" Zayn asked in disbelief as he looked at the girl in the lead.

"What'd I tell you? Damn she's huge!" Kai licked his lips.

"You're acting like a dog again." Lynn said casually.

Kai glared at Lynn, who didn't say anything more.

"Wow. She's...beautiful." Zayn said as he looked at the girl, and he wasn't the only one. 

Literally every student looked at her, each with a different reason than the other. The girl had long purple hair that reached her waist, with sky blue frosted tips. Her face was cold and immaculate, looking like what would be a cross between an angel and a fairy. She had soft looking red lips that made one wanting to endlessly suckle on it in a deep, long kiss. Her silver grey eyes were cold, further accentuating her beauty. No one could keep her eyes off her tall and thick hourglass figure. 

She coldly sat on a nearby seat, with two of the females sitting beside her. The other seven sat at different places near her as they glanced at everyone else in the room with condescending eyes.

"What I'd give for her to be on my bed..." Kai had a lewd grin on his face as a huge bulge appeared in his pants. His lewd grin grew increasingly apparent.

Zayn and Lynn were utterly embarrassed by their dear friend's behavior.

Lynn turned his head away, clearly distancing himself off this matter. Zayn could only sigh. It seemed his friend was going to need a psychiatrist appointment soon.

"Are you using your ability to jerk yourself off? Damn, that's messed up bro!" Zayn shook his head as a thin spark of electricity appeared on his fingers, and tapping Kai's shoulder, he sent out an electrical discharged into his body, causing him twitch fiercely. 

"Damn! What the hell bro! Why'd you do that? I was just about to reach my "peak state!" Kai glared at him.

"Ew. You're stupid. Cut that shit off.  It's embarrassing." Zayn said with disgust.

"Nah. You don't know anything. That's why you'll always be single." Kai waved it off.

"You have a very rich father. And yet you're still single. I think it's safe to say that...I'm better than you." Zayn yawned.

"I prefer to chase my ladies, not buy them over." Kai said with a bright look on his face.

"And yet, I have more game than you. To be honest, I see no reason in you chasing after girls, you're never gonna get laid without spending yo daddy's cash." Zayn laughed.

"What? Such pure emotional damage! How dare you?" Kai asked in fake shock. "One of these days, I'll get a girlfriend and prove your smart ass wrong." Kai snapped his fingers at Zayn.

"Yeah. In a million years." Zayn grinned.

Kai was about to say something else, but someone else walked into the room. 

"Good day everyone. Now I'm sure you all missed me this past three months, but it's time to get back to business. But before we start...

Welcome back to Skylark Academy." A calm voice sounded in the students' ears.
