Chapter 30
The God King's voice boomed through the courtyard, startling the birds from the trees. "What is the meaning of this?" he demanded, his eyes fixed on Markus. "Why have you brought this man here?"

The guards shifted uneasily, glancing at each other before one of them stepped forward to speak. "Your Majesty, this man was found lurking near the palace grounds. We do not know his intentions, but thought it best to bring him before you."

Markus' mind raced as he remembered the battle that had taken place not so long ago. The God King had spared his life, but the memory of their fight was still fresh in his mind. He knew that he was on thin ice, and that any wrong move could spell disaster.

Fiona's eyes were fixed on him, burning with hatred and resentment. She had once held him in such high regard, but now he was nothing more than a hated rival in her eyes. The tension in the air was thick, threatening to burst at any moment.
