The next day, the in-laws watched Celeste. They glanced at Leo, the more troubled he was, the more frantic Celeste became and she would have to face Dean somehow

Lady Blackwood walked up to Leo, who was feeding the robins. As she approached, the birds scattered, fluttering away in a panic.

Leo turned to face her, his expression guarded. "Is there something I can help you with?" he asked, his tone cool and polite.

Mrs Blackwood's voice was soft and persuasive as she spoke, but her words were like a knife in Leo's heart. "Don't you remember how the werewolves treated the animals?" she said. "They treated them like dirt, and they showed no remorse. How can you trust them?"

As she spoke, Leo could feel his anger boiling over. He was reminded of the incident years ago, when the werewolves had shown their true colors. It was a painful memory, and one that he had tried to forget. But now it was fresh in his mind, and he could feel his control slipping away.
