Zane hesitated for a moment, his gaze darting between Dean's hand and his face. Finally, he reached out and took the offered hand. "I'm not sure I deserve your help," he said. "I've been a terrible person." Dean shook his head. "We all make mistakes, Zane. But that doesn't define us. We can always choose to do better, to be better. And I'm willing to give you a chance, if you're willing to take it." Zane nodded, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "I'll take it," he said.

Zane had the potential to betray him but he also had the potential to change.
