Back to the present,In seconds, the other male senior intern shook William’s hand, but with no underhanded motive or sneak attacks. “I’m Ian, welcome to the McArthur headquarters.”William smiled back slightly at Ian. “Nice to meet you, Ian. Thank you for the warm welcome.” He made sure that his behavior in this moment was clear to everyone in this room. He would only give back the same energy that was given to him. Ian was genuinely being nice, and so he was nice to Ian.The female senior intern finally walked up to William, extending a handshake. “Hey, I’m Laura.”William smiled and reached out to take her hand when Laura’s hand suddenly changed direction. Before William realized what was happening, Laura’s hand was already caressing William’s before her lips landed on his cheek.“Welcome to the McArthur headquarters, Hot stuff,” Laura whispered seductively into William’s left ear. “I hope you came to this place single. Either way, I don’t care. We’re gonna have fun getting to
Ian was about to retort when he caught Laura carefully shaking her head at him, silently begging him to not challenge Drake any further. As a result, Ian could only swallow his anger and look down.Drake waited until he was sure Ian was backing down. This elicited a chuckle of ridicule from him. “That’s what I thought, Buddy.” He pointed at him. “Next time, you better watch your mouth, or I’ll gladly keep it in check for you.” He then turned a hard glare into Amma, Jed, Drew, and Armando. “You four better meet me during today’s break or I swear….”Jed quickly raised his hands, shaking his palms along with his head. “No, don’t worry, Drake. We’ll be there in time, all of us.”“Oh, you better.” Drake was still in a bad mood as he turned his frown in the direction of the closed supervisor’s office, picturing William’s annoyingly placid face when he was secretly crushing his hand. “Fuck it, I gotta go smoke something or I’m gonna lose my goddamn mind.” He walked out of the department
“Thank you, Ma’am.” William got up and was about to turn the door handle when he heard his superior’s voice.“Thread carefully when interacting with your co-interns, Mr. Chain. The people in this company are not without their own form of connections and privileges. Keep your five senses open just in case. Also, fortune is one thing, but I’ve read your achievements, and I can say that took up most of the logical reasons this company chose to recruit you for this internship program. All you have to do, Mr. Chain, is show us that we didn’t recruit you for nothing.”William turned around with an appreciative smile before nodding his head sharply. “Understood, Ma’am. Thank you.” Though it wasn’t clearly mentioned, he was also thanking Cordelia for her warnings. It had to be mentioned that even if the Intern Supervisor wasn’t afraid of the interns themselves, there was little she could do if those interns used their connections to suppress and bully other interns. There were some persona
“Hey, do you mind taking the ride down together?”William could tell that Drake was up to something. The man’s demeanor gave away his evil intention. Still, the McArthur stared at him for a moment before shrugging his shoulders. “Why are you even asking me? Is this my company? Who am I to tell you whether you should take the elevator with me or not?” He raised an eyebrow while staring down at the older man.Once again, Drake felt like William was looking down at him like he was higher than him, and it infuriated the senior interns. Still, he soothed his heart with the thought that he would soon put William in his place.William didn’t say a word more as he walked to the elevator. By the time it opened, Drake had found his bearing and was now standing behind him. They both walked into the empty elevator, something Drake was even happier about as it would give him the chance to mess with William without the risk of anyone finding out.For the first few minutes, there was nothing but
Drake smirked, feeling victorious, as he saw William’s grip tightening on the metal bar. He was finally getting the desired reaction out of his victim. “Oh, Mr. William Chain, did I hit a nerve?” He sighed, feigning a concerned expression. “Aw, I feel you, but I didn’t lie though. Aren’t you an orphan when you lived the most miserable life? Oh, yeah! That was before you gained an inheritance and became the dazzling star of BAU, right?” He chuckled darkly. “Unfortunately for you, no matter the amount of wealth will help you here. This is a place where you have no connection.” He slowly got closer to William, whispering into his ear. “But if you behave, and bow to me as your lord, I promise you will have a very smooth future here.” He seemed to be gliding his nose through William’s hair at this point. “As long as you recognize me as your God, and you submit yourself to me, I can make life as an intern more worth it for you.”William remained as unbothered as ever, letting Drake get un
William scoffed, as he easily saw this coming. He swiftly met the incoming fist with his other hand as well, grabbing it around Drake’s wrist before applying pressure on a certain point. Drake yelled out as another intense pain shot through his other hand. Once William let go of that left hand, Drake realized that it had suddenly gone numb. The senior intern could barely feel his left arm as it slumped down to his side.Drake’s eyes widened in horror as he turned his gaze back up to find William’s icy stare was now akin to that of an agent of death. He didn’t dare struggle too much for fear of causing more pain to his trapped right hand. It was crystal clear to him at this point that he wasn’t strong enough to get out of William’s death grip.“William, I beg you! Let me go!” He groaned out as he was now on his knees, looking quite pathetic. “You’ve already crushed my hand! Are you only going to stop after you completely tear it off from my wrist!” He was panicking at this point, as
Drake had been rushed to the hospital following the horrible incident with his right hand. Meanwhile, William had left the headquarters building with nonchalance, heading straight to a hotel privately owned by his grandfather. He had temporarily moved his belongings to the most expensive suite in this private hotel after leaving the McArthur estate. This was done to avoid suspicious eyes. It was logical and expected that once William officially became an intern, there would be people in the shadow keeping tabs on him. After all, most of the important people working in the McArthur headquarters should have been informed of how William was recruited. Despite all the necessary precautions that William had taken, there would still be people who would want to check if there was anything of importance that he could possibly be hiding. This suspicion towards William was quite understandable though. Despite William’s reputation as an exceptional mind at BAU, it was still quite odd that the
Mike smiled with an ominous gaze as he stood with his hands folded behind his back, looking as upright as ever. “The McArthur headquarters is a gigantic tower filled with countless workers who control all of the other companies under the McArthur name. It is expected that a lot of these people would have gotten arrogant with power. The McArthur’s business empire has been around for literally centuries. Surely, we know how to keep our subordinates in check. There’s nothing that goes on in that company that we don’t know about.”William actually felt a chill run down his spine at those words, but he steeled himself. “But is there an issue with Drake? He went too far trying to subdue me, and I had to teach him some lesson. It’s just a light disagreement with a fellow intern. What’s wrong with that?” William gestured for the head butler to take his seat, joining him on the couch near his. He then nodded at Abigail and the seven second-in-commands, signaling for them to give both him and
