“Hey, do you mind taking the ride down together?”William could tell that Drake was up to something. The man’s demeanor gave away his evil intention. Still, the McArthur stared at him for a moment before shrugging his shoulders. “Why are you even asking me? Is this my company? Who am I to tell you whether you should take the elevator with me or not?” He raised an eyebrow while staring down at the older man.Once again, Drake felt like William was looking down at him like he was higher than him, and it infuriated the senior interns. Still, he soothed his heart with the thought that he would soon put William in his place.William didn’t say a word more as he walked to the elevator. By the time it opened, Drake had found his bearing and was now standing behind him. They both walked into the empty elevator, something Drake was even happier about as it would give him the chance to mess with William without the risk of anyone finding out.For the first few minutes, there was nothing but
Drake smirked, feeling victorious, as he saw William’s grip tightening on the metal bar. He was finally getting the desired reaction out of his victim. “Oh, Mr. William Chain, did I hit a nerve?” He sighed, feigning a concerned expression. “Aw, I feel you, but I didn’t lie though. Aren’t you an orphan when you lived the most miserable life? Oh, yeah! That was before you gained an inheritance and became the dazzling star of BAU, right?” He chuckled darkly. “Unfortunately for you, no matter the amount of wealth will help you here. This is a place where you have no connection.” He slowly got closer to William, whispering into his ear. “But if you behave, and bow to me as your lord, I promise you will have a very smooth future here.” He seemed to be gliding his nose through William’s hair at this point. “As long as you recognize me as your God, and you submit yourself to me, I can make life as an intern more worth it for you.”William remained as unbothered as ever, letting Drake get un
William scoffed, as he easily saw this coming. He swiftly met the incoming fist with his other hand as well, grabbing it around Drake’s wrist before applying pressure on a certain point. Drake yelled out as another intense pain shot through his other hand. Once William let go of that left hand, Drake realized that it had suddenly gone numb. The senior intern could barely feel his left arm as it slumped down to his side.Drake’s eyes widened in horror as he turned his gaze back up to find William’s icy stare was now akin to that of an agent of death. He didn’t dare struggle too much for fear of causing more pain to his trapped right hand. It was crystal clear to him at this point that he wasn’t strong enough to get out of William’s death grip.“William, I beg you! Let me go!” He groaned out as he was now on his knees, looking quite pathetic. “You’ve already crushed my hand! Are you only going to stop after you completely tear it off from my wrist!” He was panicking at this point, as
Drake had been rushed to the hospital following the horrible incident with his right hand. Meanwhile, William had left the headquarters building with nonchalance, heading straight to a hotel privately owned by his grandfather. He had temporarily moved his belongings to the most expensive suite in this private hotel after leaving the McArthur estate. This was done to avoid suspicious eyes. It was logical and expected that once William officially became an intern, there would be people in the shadow keeping tabs on him. After all, most of the important people working in the McArthur headquarters should have been informed of how William was recruited. Despite all the necessary precautions that William had taken, there would still be people who would want to check if there was anything of importance that he could possibly be hiding. This suspicion towards William was quite understandable though. Despite William’s reputation as an exceptional mind at BAU, it was still quite odd that the
Mike smiled with an ominous gaze as he stood with his hands folded behind his back, looking as upright as ever. “The McArthur headquarters is a gigantic tower filled with countless workers who control all of the other companies under the McArthur name. It is expected that a lot of these people would have gotten arrogant with power. The McArthur’s business empire has been around for literally centuries. Surely, we know how to keep our subordinates in check. There’s nothing that goes on in that company that we don’t know about.”William actually felt a chill run down his spine at those words, but he steeled himself. “But is there an issue with Drake? He went too far trying to subdue me, and I had to teach him some lesson. It’s just a light disagreement with a fellow intern. What’s wrong with that?” William gestured for the head butler to take his seat, joining him on the couch near his. He then nodded at Abigail and the seven second-in-commands, signaling for them to give both him and
Mike understood though, so he chuckled. “Well, how you deal with Drake is totally up to you. I just thought it would have been best to know of his origin. He may not know your true identity, but it was for the best that you know his identity, at the very least.”“There’s one more thing though.” William placed his fingers beneath his chin, feeling the stubble there. He made a mental note that he was due for a shave. “I’m also aware that Grand-Uncle Augustin is a notable member of the board of directors. He must be the reason Drake is as domineering as he does.”“Still, he has to be evaluated as the other interns, or else, his qualifications in the near future will be brought under suspicion.” Mike Barathea pointed out. “And people begin to look into him, they would, sooner or later, uncover his toes with Augustin. This matter of an illegitimate child, to your Grand-Uncle, is still something of a deeply shameful matter. It would not only destroy his marriage, but he’s also aware that
William’s gaze turned cold as he smoothly turned around with an intense swipe of his left leg, landing a brutal kick to a burly man’s chest. He immediately took a couple of steps back to find that this burly man was in a completely black outfit and a black mask over his face. He had the dagger in his hand, held tightly as he was in a position to attack again.William quickly held his fists out. “What do you want?” He growled out.The burly masked man chuckled beneath the mask. “Nothing. We have simply been hired to fuck you up. You offended the wrong client, and he’s paid to make you bleed tonight.”William quickly picked up on a particular word. “We?” Immediately he said this, he felt two more presence rushing from behind, where the bedroom is located in this apartment. He quickly swerved to the side though, before they could reach him, but he didn’t expect that the second he got up on his feet, he heard what he could recognize as the sound of a silent pistol going off. In the ne
Early the next morning, Drake walked into the McArthur headquarters with prideful steps despite the bandages on his right arm. The thought of not seeing a certain someone arrive on his first day at the internship made him happy.Drake looked down at the bandages on his right hand as he was taking the elevator up to the internship department. “The fucking guts of that abandoned bastard to break my hand.” He gritted his teeth as the horrible memory from yesterday came rushing back. “After the trap, I had prepared in his new apartment, I would like to see if he dares look me in the eyes…if he survived that attack, that is.”Drake exited the elevator, walking inside the internship sector when he heard Laura and Ian chatting with Jed, Amma, Armando, and Drew.“Why haven’t William come in for his first day?” Amma stared at the newly cleaned desk placed in the junior intern's area, along with the other four desks. “That guy must really not be as intelligent as his university made him out
