William had arrived at the office as early as he was expected to be there weekly, and he began his task for the day in an orderly manner. If an outsider had seen him now, they would never suspect that he had been drunk to stupor last night, and had almost been a victim of an evil plan being executed.

An hour later, the other six interns arrived, one at a time, as well. They went straight to their desks before giving each other glances, silently communicating with one another. Minutes later though, they got up and went to William’s desk, awkwardly hovering over him.

Laura glared lightly at the junior interns, urging one of them to take the initiative. Amma then nudged Jed specifically before whispering to him. “Go on; talk to him already.”
