CHAPTER THIRTEEN: ACCESS TO THE FAMILY’S WEALTH

Billiard nodded once he saw this. “William, as the true heir to the empire, you have now been granted access to twenty percent of the family’s treasure vaults across the various banks in the world.”

William whipped his head up so fast, that his neck made a sharp crack. “What?!” He only got another head nod from his grandfather and he waited until all the notifications had completely popped up before he went through each one. "Grandpa, these are welcome messages from over forty banks across the continent!"

Mike remained standing with his usual calm demeanor. “Do you recognize any of these bank names, Young Master?”

William nodded as he kept going through the notifications to find there were all welcome messages. “Of course I do! These are some of the biggest banks in the world, and they are all congratulating me on my access to the McArthur vault.” He turned his head to look at his grandfather. “Is this what I think it is?”

“What do you think this is about?” Billiard had a mischievous expression on his face. He wanted his grandson to figure it out himself.

“I’ve just been granted access to the family vault!” William couldn’t contain his excitement. “This means I can go into any of these forty vaults and take whatever I need!”

Billiard nodded with a smirk. “It’s one of the perks of being the true heir.”

William scrolled through the bank names once again. "One of the banks is even the elite-class Bel Air Bank! That's near the university!" He was feeling overwhelmed once again. He had truly gone from having 'empty hands' to having 'full loads' of power that he currently didn't know what to do with it.

"That's right," Billiard confirmed his grandson's words. "If you ever find yourself with an insufficient bank account, you can easily head to any of these banks, and once you show them that key, you will be given access to the vault. There, you have no restrictions on the amount you can take out for whatever you need."

“Whooo!” William could no longer keep calm as he jumped into the air with so much excitement. He knew being the heir to the McArthur Empire would eventually give him access to the personal accumulation of wealth, he just didn't expect it to be anytime soon; and yet, it hadn't even been a day since he signed the inheritance and he already has so much wealth; this was simply unbelievable.

“Grandpa, are you sure about this?! This is unrestricted access to billions you’re giving me!”

“It’s mere hundreds of billions of dollars, William.” Billiard pointed at the excited young man. “Don’t forget; you’re the McArthur heir.”

William nodded with a brimming smile. Despite being the sons of a billionaire, the Camillo twins merely had access to tens of millions of dollars. The same could be said for his best friend, Andre Leverque, who was also the son of a billionaire. Currently, William's personal wealth not only left his three peers far behind, but it could also easily contend with both their fathers' amassed wealth. He couldn't help jumping about like a kid who has been overdosed on sugar.

“Alright, boy, settle down.” Billiard gestured for the young man to take his seat once again. “I understand your excitement over your new wealth, but this is the best time to inform you that there are strict conditions that you have to follow as the McArthur heir.”

This news quickly calmed William down and he paid attention. “What are the conditions, Grandpa?”

Billiard raised a finger. "The first: you have to return to Bel Air University immediately and perform your possible best to graduate with excellent results. No heir of mine will take over my empire as a drop-out." He raised a second finger. "From now on, you will attend a bi-weekly private class where you will be tested on your application of wisdom and discretion when engaged in dealings in the business world. This is very important as it will build your impressionable attitude when it's time to reveal yourself to the world. The speed of your development in this class would show me you're truly capable of upholding the family name."

William understood well what his grandfather meant. Even though he had a strong knowledge of the business world, it didn't mean he was competent in the practical aspect. It is well known that people of higher status rarely follow the rules. Therefore, taking this class will help him navigate any kind of trouble he might find himself in when he takes over the empire.

Billiard raised a third finger. “I have decided that it’s best to wait on publicizing your status to the world before anyone knows your true identity, therefore, you are required to lead two separate lives from now on. You have your school life where you will be known to the world as William Chain, not William McArthur. Then on the other end, you have your hidden life as the McArthur heir where you’ll fall under my tutelage as my apprentice as I give you first-hand teaching in leading the McArthur family affairs and business.”

William understood the purpose of his last name being changed. He had been too little when he lost his biological father, Derek Chain. After Sarah got married to Woodruff Camillo, his surname was changed before he gained admission into the university. Now that he had no ties to the Camillo family, it only made sense to take on his dead father’s name once again, thus, he could conveniently keep his ties to the McArthur a secret.

“I understand, Grandpa. It’s best I take on my biological father’s surname for now.”

"Don't worry about the formalities, Young Master," Mike spoke up. "I have reached out to trusted contacts who have handled the formal change to your registry. I assure you that no one would find anything suspicious."

“Head butler Mike, your diligence is simply astonishing!” William looked at Billiard. “What about my wealth then? Do I have to pretend like I’m poor?”

“No. You’re allowed to showcase your wealth as you see fit. I believe you’re more than intelligent enough to caution your behavior and not allow the money to control you.” Billiard showed his trust in William’s ability.

“Thank you, Grandpa. Are there any other conditions?”

“Just one more.” Billiard raised the fourth finger. "Bear in mind that you will be given certain assignments at random times, and your delivery will show me who you are as a McArthur."

William raised a brow. “What does that even mean?”

“It’s alright if you don’t understand it right now.” Billiard quickly dismissed his grandson’s confusion.

William was contemplating what the old man could possibly have planned for him when a realization crossed his mind. “School!” He lurched from his seat as he stared at the two older men with a horrified gaze. “Guys, how can I possibly return to the university when I’ve been expelled?!”

“Oh, right! I knew I was forgetting something.” Billiard glanced at Mike. “Bring me my phone; it’s high time that foolish Vice chancellor heard from me.”

William slowly tilted his head forward when he heard this. “Grandpa, what are you going to do?”
