CHAPTER TWO: MULTIPLE HUMILIATIONS.

Ever since William and his mother got thrown out of the Camillo Estate, William quickly hunted down extra jobs in order to provide for both of them; one of his part-time jobs is a cleaner at MURKY CAFÉ. This café not only earned him a living, it was also convenient working there as it was close to the university.

He had clocked in for his three-hour shift for the day and he began mopping the floor as multiple customers came and went.

“Watch out!”

The sudden warning had just reached William’s ears when a solid object smashed against his face and something extremely hot was poured down his face, making him yell in pain and fall to his knees. He opened his one good eye, as the other one had turned bruised, to find a broken ceramic cup on the floor. He realized the hot liquid burning his face must be the hot coffee.

“Dude, you gotta watch where you’re going next time.”

William looked up to find Wilson and Donald standing over him with evil smirks. He didn’t notice when they had entered the café, but their presence here was no surprise to him. Ever since he began working here, these two, who were twins, had made it their mission to make his job a lot harder.

Even though Donald and Wilson were twins, they have never looked identical to one another, whether by face or body. Donald had a lean and refined look while Wilson had a buff and ‘bad-boy’ look about him.

“You did that on purpose, Wilson.” William directed his one-eyed gaze at the muscular twin.

“Do you have any proof that this wasn’t an accident?” Donald raised an eyebrow. “If you don’t, then I’ll report you for making malicious accusations against a customer.” He sent William a mischievous look before raising his voice. “I’d like to speak to the manager of this establishment.” This got everyone’s attention.

These twins, like their father, had always hated William ever since he became their stepbrother. They were so glad when their father finally divorced his mother.

A middle-aged man rushed over from the inner room. “You called for me, Mr. Camillo?” It was clear that this manager knew the two troublemakers.

“Your employee just threatened to sue me and my brother for a mere accident.” Donald lied to the manager with calmness. “If I knew you had such a manipulative worker in this beautiful café, we would have never come here.”

“I’m extremely sorry for this, sirs.” The manager immediately bowed his head to them in public. He turned to William before raising his leg to kick him in the face. “Bastard! If I had known you were this kind of disgusting being, I would have never considered you when you were begging at my feet for this job.” He turned back to the Camillo twins with a docile posture. “I apologize for my employee’s stupid behavior. Rest assured, he will never repeat this again.”

William had fallen face-first into the puddle of hot coffee after that kick. He could only swallow the anger overflowing in his heart at the injustice as he knew better than to speak up.

“What are you waiting for, you fool!” The manager brutally slapped William's face as the customers watched. “Apologize to the customers or you can forget ever working here again!”

William kept his head down as he nodded. He was about to get up when Wilson suddenly kicked him in the leg and he fell right back on his knees.

“Apologize properly on your knees.” The manager spoke up instead, clearly in support of the Camillo twins’ oppression.

William glanced out of his good eye to find the numerous customers were looking at the scene. This was public humiliation but he could only swallow the bitterness. “I..I’m sorry, Mr. Donald and Mr. Wilson. This won’t happen again.”

“It better not.”

After this, the crowd dispersed. William saw his manager talking privately with the twins before the manager received a bank credit notification on his phone. This was why the man openly supported their bullying; his cooperation had been bought.

William quietly resumed work until a beautiful lady walked into the café and the sight alone brightened his day. “Babe, you’re here?”

The beautiful lady heard the whisper but she pretended like William was invisible and she went to the table where her friends were waiting for her.

“Hey, Ayra, can’t you hear me?” This broke William’s heart a bit as he could tell she heard him. He decided not to dwell on it though and resumed work before his manager scolded him again.

Unfortunately for Williams, during the rest of his three-hour shift, Donald and Wilson's friends would purposely make a big mess of their orders and he would be specifically called to clean it up. During one of the clean-ups, one of the guys even made him trip and the rest of his friends quickly poured their hot caffeinated drinks on him. Though the scalding hot content burned William’s skin, he refused to give the bullies any satisfaction of seeing him in pain.

Luckily, his shift finally ended and he clocked out before leaving for his next part-time job.

It was already midnight when William finally clocked out on the fifth part-time job for the day. He was physically and mentally exhausted.

He got off the bus that he took from work and walked for about five minutes until he got to a luxurious condominium and went inside.

“Hey, William, you’re back. Are you just coming from work? What kept you out this long?”

William entered the living room to find a young man, about his height, playing video games. “What’s up, Andre? Yeah, I got off late today, thanks to those demonic twins.”

“Donald and Wilson?” Andre paused the video game to give William his attention. “Their jerk-ass father has divorced your mom so you guys are no longer step-siblings. Why are those bullies still after you?”

“To show they can still make my life a living hell.” William shrugged as he took a bottle of water out of the refrigerator to drink. He opened up his phone to find that Ayra was online, so he called her.

“What do you want?” Ayra’s tone carried a hint of anger. “I already told you to never act like we know each other when we’re in public, so why the hell did you open your stupid mouth and call my name at the café? Are you dumb or something?”

William was used to his secret girlfriend talking to him this way. Ayra is one of the beauty goddesses of Bel Air University and he feels extremely lucky that she chose to be with him. He was about to apologize when a text came in and his eyes widened with pleasant shock.

There’s a top-tier party taking place three days from now. It pays thirty dollars an hour. You in?
