Darkness swallowed the world. Ethan's breath hitched as his vision blurred. The last thing he saw before the abyss claimed him was Lysara, her body flung through the air like a ragdoll, crashing into the rubble. And then nothing. Just black.

A gasp tore from Ethan's mouth as he jackknifed upright. His head throbbed, his body screamed in pain, but the battlefield didn't care. The world was still burning. Lysara wasn't moving.
