Chapter 5 : Unacceptable

The cab stopped in front of the Davidson residence. Damien came out, paid the cab driver and turned towards the mansion.

He then walked towards the front door. Just as he was about to knock on the door, he heard some boisterous laughter coming from the inside.

“Young master Seth, since you are so sincere about Amelia, we can be straightforward. Let us just settle on a date.”

Damien was stunned. He reckoned that the voice belonged to Joana; his mother inlaw and Amelia's mother.

Missus Joana, you're being too polite. Since we're going to be family in the future, don't be so formal. Just call me by my name.” a very familiar voice sounded in Damien's ear. This was a voice he could never forget in his lifetime; the voice of the man who sent thugs to kill him.

“Sure, sure, you're so young and eloquent. Amelia is so lucky to have met you! As her parents, we can rest assured now!” Joana's voice was heard.

“However, I heard her husband..” Seth's voice trailed off as he was inclining to the fact that Amelia was already married still.

“You mean that good for nothing? It's alright. The law states that a worthless man can be divorced at any moment. And if you're ready, let's go to court and get a divorce certificate.” Joana cut Seth off.

“In my opinion, Amelia is brilliant in all aspects, except that her husband, my brother-in-law, is good for nothing.” the voice of Charlotte; Amelia's younger sister sounded.

“That piece of trash is not your brother-in-law. From now on, your brother-in-law is Seth Roach.”

When Damien heard this, his face turned extremely gloomy, and he could tolerate it no longer.

He was almost killed by that Seth Roach today and yet he heard her family talking about her remarriage? While he was still alive? Was Amelia in on this? No matter what? He had to see her to clarify.

_Bang! Bang! Bang!_ he knocked on the door.

Who is it? Coming?” having settled her eldest daughter's marriage with a wealthy man, Joana was in a good mood, and she opened the door with a gleeful grin.

However, her expression changed dramatically when she saw the person at the door.

“You.. you're not dead!?” shock was written all over her face, which seemed to have paled all of a sudden. Her expression was now full of disgust and disdain.

'How did this good-for-nothing survive Young master Seth's goons attack' Joana thought in her mind.

'Dead!? So she knew! She planned the assassination with Seth. Did she believe that if she got rid of me, then Amelia would agree to their demands!? Tsk! We will see about that!' Damien could not help but be equally disgusted at Joana's behaviour.

“I'm back Joana” Damien did not bother to add any honorifics.

“How could you have the cheek to come back, you wastrel!? Don't act so close to me! It's Mrs Davidson. Did your dead mother not teach you any manners!” Joana hollered, her brows furrowed and her hands on her waist. Her saliva almost landed on Damien's face.

Damien's heart was suddenly full of fury. His mother's death would forever be a sore spot in his heart. He clenched his fist and repeatedly warned himself not to get physical because the woman in front of him was Amelia's biological mother.

“What? Do you want to hit me? You are such a jinx. Of all times, you had to come back now. I bet you're bent on making life hard for us!” Joana hollered more.

“Who's out there?” when Seth heard the shouts on the outside, he sent one of his men to check things out.. who knew it was the same gang boss that beat up Damien to death?

When he saw Damien's face, his eyes widened immediately, and he charged forward with a furious expression in a bid to punch Damien.

“Bastard! How dare you come back!? Why didn't you die outside!? Huh!?” just as his fist was about to land on Damien's face, Damien stretched forth his hand and held it in place. The thug felt like his hand had been held by an iron clamp.

“To be honest, I will be more than happy to return the favour.” with an icy cold gaze in his eyes, he emitted a murderous aura that frightened the thug to the point he turned as pale as a sheet.
