Klaus leaned forward slightly, as his gaze locked on Damon, clearly piqued by his interest. “Go on, Damon. What is it?”

Damon took a deep breath as he glanced briefly in the direction Vivian had gone before returning his gaze to Klaus.

“Sir, I have no job at the moment,” he said, as his gaze moved to the ground, which suddenly seemed fascinating.

“I don’t have the means or the connections to achieve what I’m striving for at the moment,” Damon continued. “But I do have the determination and the willingness to work hard. If it’s not too much to ask… I’d like to work for you. To earn my place, prove my worth, and build a future I can be proud of.”

Klaus leaned back in his chair, his eyes fixed on Damon. The room was quiet for a moment, the weight of Damon’s request hanging in the air.

“You’re asking for a job?” Klaus said calmly.

“Yes, sir,” Damon replied earnestly. “I would really appreciate any job you give me, sir.”

A small smile tugged at the corners of Klaus’s lips. He nodded slowly

Damon stood in the silence of the house, contemplating Vivian's words as he continued to gaze out the window. His phone buzzed again, snapping him from his thoughts. It was a message from Klaus: "Come over for breakfast tomorrow. We’d like to see you before you start your first day." The next morning, Damon arrived at the Whitmore estate early. He had barely slept throughout the night, clenching the Whitmore heirloom in his hands. He had barely entered the grand foyer when Vivian appeared, gliding toward him with that signature mischievous smile on her face. “Well, well,” she said, her eyes scanning him up and down with playful scrutiny. “I see someone’s on time.” Her tone was light, but there was a hint of teasing in it. Damon raised an eyebrow, a little caught off guard by her sudden shift in attitude. “What’s that supposed to mean?” Vivian’s smile widened. “Oh, nothing,” she said before clearing her throat. “Thank you for everything, Damon,” she said as she looked right into h

Chapter 20The mention of the Silver Corporation sent a chill down Damon's spine. His mind raced at the thought of Lily Lockwood. The name brought back a pang of memories he had tried to bury. It wasn’t just about her relationship with Tyler—it was how he remembered everything he had done to them, and they never found him enough.Damon cleared his throat, trying to mask his unease. “The Silver Corporation… impressive clients,” he said, forcing a neutral tone as he reached for his glass of water.Vivian arched a brow as she looked at Damon with interest. “You’ve heard of them, I assume?” she asked curiously.“Of course,” Damon replied quickly. “Who hasn’t?” he said ambiguously, hinting at another meaning in his tone.He sipped his water, hoping to steer the conversation away.Vivian leaned back in her chair, her expression unreadable. “Well, I will be handling the negotiations, but you’ll be assisting with the background work. They want us to oversee their company while they work under

Damon’s breath hitched as his eyes landed on her—Lily Lockwood. She hadn’t changed much; her golden hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her eyes were as piercing as he remembered. She stood near the coffee machine, her head tilted slightly as she studied him from head to toe.The look in her eyes was filled with surprise and mockery as she kept staring at Damon for too long. She quickly recovered as she folded her arms, a smirk tugging at her lips. “Well, well, ex-husband. I almost didn’t recognize you.”Tyler, who was standing beside her, chuckled as he followed Lily’s gaze. “Yeah, it’s hard to believe. The last time we saw you, you were...” He trailed off, mockingly tapping his chin as though in thought. “Oh, right. Broke, pathetic, and an epitome of embarrassment.”Damon’s jaw tightened, but he said nothing as he watched them both. Their words had lost their meaning years ago, though seeing them again brought back memories he would love to forget.Lily stepped closer. “Come on, h

As Damon walked away, Tyler leaned closer to Lily, his grin fading and instantly turned into a frown. "What’s with the act? He’s bluffing, right?"Lily didn’t answer immediately. Her gaze was still fixed on Damon’s retreating figure, as his confidence and strides unsettled her. The man she had known years ago would have crumbled under their taunts. But this Damon was different, composed, self-assured, and seemingly unbothered.“Maybe,” she finally said, quieter than usual. “Or maybe he’s not.”Tyler chuckled bitterly. “Come on, Lily. You don’t actually believe he’s important now, do you? Do you think he would ever be summoned by the Whitmores?”"True! A loser like him would never. I wonder what little jackpot he hit to make him sound cocky. He has and always will be a loser," she said with disgust in her tone.Tyler smirked at her words. That was what Damon was—a loser—and no matter the demeanor or act he put on, he would always be.“Let’s go,” she said as she grabbed her coffee cup a

Lily's thoughts raced as she struggled to keep her composure. Damon, her ex-husband—the man she had mocked and belittled—was sitting beside the great Vivian Whitmore with an air of authority and confidence she had never seen before. Her stomach churned, and she felt a rising panic. How could this be? How could Damon, of all people, have found his way into the Whitmore Group, let alone as Vivian’s consultant on their project?Tyler, on the other hand, clenched his fists beneath the table. He forced a tight-lipped smile as he masked his unease. “Well, this is… unexpected,” he shrugged, his tone hinting at discomfort. “Congratulations, Damon. It’s, uh, good to see old friends succeed.”Damon chuckled softly with a tone of mockery. Less than an hour ago, they had called him a loser. When he said he worked for someone else, they said it was more like something that would never come true. The word friends felt like a blow as he looked at Tyler in disbelief.“Friends? That’s a generous inter

Vivian observed the dynamic playing out before her with an amused glint in her eyes.Damon had effectively seized control of the room, and both Tyler and Lily were feeling extremely troubled. She knew she had to step in, or things would escalate even more. “Transparency is the foundation of trust,” she said evenly as she broke the tension. “But so is knowing when to let the past remain in the past. While your observations are valuable, Damon, I trust Starprize Enterprises is capable of addressing any internal issues without unnecessary friction. Our goal is to build solutions, not barriers,” she said simply.Tyler and Lily let out a gasp as they felt internal relief in what Vivian had just said. The last thing they wanted was for Vivian to have doubts about them, and they weren't ready to compromise that.Damon nodded with an unreadable expression. “Understood, Miss Whitmore. My intent was never to cause friction but to ensure we’re all aligned. After all, we’re on the same team now.”
