Chapter 34- Slight Regret

A loud splash echoed out as Weisheng's conjured water palm fell back into the pond.

The mutilated body of Weisheng was seen floating towards the edge of the pond. Although he wasn't dead, he was severely injured with all of his internal organs on the verge of shutting down.

Longwei's sword strike was from the legendary Sword Intent, but even though it was powerful enough to leave Weisheng on the verge of death, how Longwei utilized his sword intent was actually a crude way of using it.

It was evident that Longwei still had not grasped the profundities of Sword Intent to use it to its full potential.

Though that still had not stopped Weisheng from nearly dying from his single sword strike. If Weisheng hadn't reduced the blow with his crescent blade and he wasn't wearing his fire armor, he would have most likely died.

If he had used his full cultivation then he could have avoided receiving such a deadly injury, but the Fire Phoenix Clan member hiding within his body prevented him from doing that, so he could get the perfect opportunity to make physical contact with Longwei's body.

If Weisheng had released the seal suppressing his cultivation at that time, Longwei would have never carried out his attack and that good opportunity would have never happened.

At that moment when Weisheng's palm made contact with Longwei's chest, the Fire Phoenix Clan member had released that strange and mysterious frigid energy into Longwei's body.

That was his plan all along. He and the Crescent Moon Sect had conspired to kill Longwei and Longmin within the Yellow Leaf Lesser Pocket Realm. The Fire Phoenix Clan member's original plan was to use some strange method to prevent the Wu Clan's Saint realm expert's Divine imprint from making a move when he carried out his assassination attempt.

The patriarch of the Crescent Moon Sect was hesitant to follow along with this plan, as something like that sounded impossible to him. After all, the Fire Phoenix Clan member was only in the Sage realm, how could he do something like trap a Saint realm's expert's Divine imprint? And worse of all, the method in which the Phoenix Clan member was hiding from the Lesser Pocket Realm's laws prevented him from making a move as well.

But because of the Fire Phoenix Clan member's assurance and his disciple's insistence, he eventually agreed to execute the plan.

'Cough! Cough! Cough!'

Violent coughing came from Weisheng as he had barely managed to crawl out of the pond onto solid ground. With trembling hands, he reached for the storage bag at his side.

One of the benefits of a storage bag, aside from it being able to store large and small inanimate objects, is that it's waterproof and even fireproof as well.

As Weisheng's hands made it to his storage bag, he willed his Spiritual Sense into it and several white recovery pills popped out.

Compared to the one Longmin fed to Longwei, his were a bit lackluster.

That was because the recovery pill Longmin had given to Longwei was a high-quality Rank 2 recovery pill, while his own were mid-grade Rank 3 recovery pills.

The fact that Weisheng's own was a Rank 3 pill did not affect the fact that it was of a lower grade than Longmin's own. It simply meant that they were for Core Formation cultivators to use, while Longmin's one was for Foundation realm cultivators.

Aside from the 9 Ranks of alchemy pills that determine which level of cultivation one should be in to take it, pills are also separated into, low-grade medicinal pills, mid-grade medicinal pills, and high-quality medicinal pills. There are other levels above said levels, but this information is enough for now.

Low-grade pills when concocted, only have a twenty percent medicinal effect, while mid-grade pills have forty percent medicinal effect, and high-quality pills have an eighty percent medicinal effect.

So one could see why Weisheng's mid-grade Rank 3 recovery pills were inferior to Longmin's high-quality Rank 2 recovery pill.

As Weisheng stuffed the mid-grade Rank 3 recovery pills into his mouth, they began to melt and heal his internal injuries, though the rate at which they were healing was slower than Longwei's own.

Even so, the mid-grade Rank 3 recovery pills were still effective enough to stop the bleeding coming from the sword wound on his chest and also caused his ragged breathing to become even.

After a while, Weisheng slowly sat up into a lotus position to actively guide the recovery pill's energy to his wound. This method would make his wound heal faster rather than just letting it passively heal him.

Weisheng's significantly pale face was slowly gaining its regular color, but it was still pale nonetheless. Longwei's attack which he carried out with his Sword Intent, would take a long time to heal for Weisheng. He didn't have to just worry about his severe internal injuries, but he also had to worry about the residue Sword Intent left in his body.

He had to be more focused on that because if he didn't get rid of it and let it remain within his body, the Sword Intent would just aggravate his injuries and prevent him from recovering fully. It might even cause his injuries to become permanent, and affect his cultivation in the future.

As this thought passed through Weisheng's mind, he couldn't help but grit his teeth in anger. He didn't think it was possible, but his hatred for Longwei had actually increased multiple folds.

Sensing Weisheng's emotions, the Fire Phoenix Clan member said, "Remember, only with great risks can the most profit be reaped. Those were your words."

When Weisheng heard that, his face contorted into a hideous expression.

How could he have known that Longwei had comprehended Sword Intent?

The power of that one sword strike had reached the peak of the mid Core Formation realm. Weisheng thought that with his Sun and Moon Scripture boosting his power, Longwei had no other choice but to lose to him. But unexpectedly, he wasn't the only one hiding a card up his sleeve, Longwei had been too and it was the legendary Sword Intent at that.

What was Sword Intent?

It's something all sword masters crave, but them being able to comprehend its profundities was as hard as ascending to the nine heavens.

Longwei being able to use it was out of Weisheng's expectations. Though Weisheng realized that Longwei's use of Sword Intent was different from what he read about, it was a lot weaker.

If Weisheng had been hit with the real Sword Intent, he would have been sliced in two before being reduced to dust. That's how powerful the real Sword Intent from the legends was.

The paleness in Weisheng's face was lessening by the minute, however, his recovery was still going slow.

He had managed to force out around forty percent of Longwei's Sword Intent from his system, but the effort it took to do so was exhausting. Weisheng couldn't help but become slightly scared, if this little bit of Sword Intent comprehended by Longwei was enough to cause this much trouble for him, didn't that mean if Longwei's Sword Intent had been a bit more mature, he could have left him crippled?

Weisheng wanted Longwei dead by all means, but if it's at the cost of his cultivation or his life, then what was the point?

If he was crippled and the plan succeeded, the Crescent Moon Sect would become the rulers of the continent, and then what? Wouldn't he just be thrown off to the side? After all, living in a world of cultivation without cultivation was nothing more than being a useless trash.

And if he ended up being killed, then how the hell could he revel in Longwei's demise and the Wu Clan's destruction, when he himself was dead as well.

Weisheng was slightly regretting the fact that he had said, only with risks can the most profit be reaped. He was all up for it, but not when it prevented him from enjoying those reaped profits.

"Senior brother Weisheng."

The voice of Longmin echoed behind Weisheng.

Weisheng paused his recovery to turn around and what he came face to face with was a smiling Longmin.

Weisheng stood up and bowed towards Longmin, then said, "Greetings, young master Longmin. Young master Longwei was able to injure me within five moves, so I have undoubtedly lost this bet."

Longmin watched as Weisheng respectfully greeted him and admitted his loss, before he said in a mischievous tone, "You know what that means, right?"

Weisheng looked up from his bowed position to see Longmin staring at him with raised brows and a twinkle in his eyes.

'Maybe I shouldn't have taken the bet after all.'

Slight regret flash across Weisheng's mind as he bemoaned his fate.
