Chapter 10

“Father, you shouldn't talk this way. We all know about the economic situation of things in the country. Obviously, Mr Alec is trying his best” Hadiza had said in anger when she saw her father pacing, as he checked the time on the old grandfather's watch.

Her father was Alec's landlord but then, she seemed to like everything about Alec. He was humble and easygoing despite the fact that he was poor. Her father, being a wise man knew all of these.

He had thought that as soon as Hadiza was back from college, she would find someone better and settle with him but Alec, that poor man still being in his house did not make her reason things. That was why he had decided to throw him out of his compound this time around.

“Are you crazy? Situation of things? He's behind rent for many months now. If the other tenants do not pay, how on earth do you want me to send you to school?”

Hadiza fisted her hands instead.

“Not like the house is in good condition either. It is poorly constructed and the water pump isn't working” Hadiza grumbled. Which suitors would she be proud of to bring here? She thought and thought of Alec again.

If she fell in love with Alec, they could leave the poor environment and start afresh!

“Alec is going and that is final!” Hadiza fisted her hands in her long green hijab.

“Few months more. I am sure he would repay you” Hadiza said. She had hope in Alec.

Even Hadiza's father's tenants that wanted a taste of Hadiza because she was really beautiful but they could not get her because she would not even give them the room for it.

The sound of a car downstairs jolted them from their thoughts. They wondered who would have the guts to bring a car to a ghetto like this. In fact, a wealthy man never came around. That was because his car could either get stolen or got scratched due to the poor environment.

Therefore, it made Hadiza and her father check out whom was there. Hadiza was surprised to see that Alec drove such an expensive car to the compound. How on earth did that happen?

“That's Alec, daddy. I knew something good would come out of him!" Hadiza said and smiled as she stared at the car. It was her dream car and with Alec by her side, she was sure that everything would be fine.

"Of what business of yours is it if something good would come out of him or not?" Her father said.

Soon, there was a knock on the door. Hadiza rushed to open the door however but he was enthusiastic about seeing her father instead. He didn't care about Hadiza who seemed to be head over heels for him.

“Is your father around?” Alec asked.

“Are you the owner of that car?” The man asked instead.

“Yes I am”

“How come? What work have you been doing that made you buy that car?”

“Oh. It's just a gift to myself. How much do I owe?”

“Five hundred dollars”

Alec laughed. This time around, he wouldn't give the man the initial amount he thought of giving earlier. He would give him ten times what he owe.

Immediately Hadiza called out the account details, her phone beeped only to see that Alec had sent a thousand dollars.

“We do not want your money. I want the exact amount you owe me instead and pack up!” The man said.

“Who knows what kind of work you are into?”

Hadiza's father was not the type of man to believe in miracles. No matter what but what kind of miracle was Alec's? He thought again.

“I have always been wealthy but I decided not to show it” Alec said and smiled.

“If you were always wealthy, why have you been living here and have not relocated to a better place?”

“Well, that's because I just want to know how it feels to be among commoners”

“Are you calling me a commoner just because you think you are much more richer than me? What do you think you have?” The man queried.

“I did not mean it that way, sir. In fact….”

“Just pack up and leave!” He said.

Alec sighed and left his shabby room instead. Hadiza wanted to say something but he was long gone. While he got to his room, he looked at it and sighed.

The same room that held his tears for long because he was always lonely. He had a girlfriend then and it seemed like he never had. At some point, eveyone thought that he was single since she never wanted to come over.

He looked at his things and sighed. Not like he had anything better in the room. He had his cloth, shoes which he disposed already.

He looked at the other side of the room and saw an old radio his grandmother had given to him before she died. She had talked about it being legendary but who cares about that? He thought and left the old room which seemed like an old, dirty toilet.

Good radiance to bad rubbish! He thought and wanted to let Harrison know that he would soon be around when something popped into his phone. It was an app where an investment about a particular money could be invested.

Alec wondered if he would get his reward early if he did that. Immediately, he had the total remaining sum in his account transferred.

{Task completed. Sixty points given and fifty million dollars sent}

{Next task: Host must be a taxi driver for three days, make sure that his customers are baddies and spend like crazy. Extra points to be earned early once host is done!}

{Host gets angry. Hosts becomes poor}

Be a taxi driver for three days and make sure baddies were his customers? How on earth did he want to go about that?
