Sarah looked beautiful.

Alex could see her from where he stood, concealed by the well trimmed bushes, she was moving slowly, with a particular beautiful rhythm, even from where he stood he could still make out her eyes, they looked dreamy, she had always been beautiful, he couldn't deny that, that was one of the things that always blew his mind about her, she always looked beautiful and innocent.

He moved closer to the building trying to avoid the security guards, who had been patrolling round the entrance to the pool building.

He looked through the small crowd of people in the hall again trying to locate her.

There she was, dancing in his arms. They looked like they had known each other forever.

Alex felt his chest tighten, he was finding it harder to breathe, his face was hot and steamy from the stream of hot tears.

Nothing ever made him cry but he couldn't control himself now.

She looked at him with a different kind of passion burning in her eyes and he did the same.

Alex's heart sank, he could hear himself screaming in his head as he staggered, he dragged himself to the entrance, she had never looked at him that way.

In all the years they had been together, she had never looked at him that way.

He felt a pang, a mixture of jealousy, pain and hatred. He looked up again, his eyes meeting a scenario that he'd forever regret seeing, she was kissing him again.

The blood rushed through Alex veins, the scream in his head got louder, he rushed blindly towards the entrance of the building.

Strong arms wrapped away his stomach midway to the entrance of the hall, it pulled him back as he struggled to free himself off the tight grip, he tried to wiggle his way free but the grip was bizarre, almost ripping him in half.

Alex managed to grab a hold of the pole nearby using it as leverage against the security guard's strong grip.

He gave it all his strength as he pushed,he could see the veins pumping on the security guard's arm and he knew the mane was definitely doing his best trying to hold him down.

Alex pushed again, this time twisting mid air to land a solid kick in the man's chest.

The man's hand broke free and Alex fell to the ground, without wasting any time trying to grab his breath, he picked himself off the ground avoiding the man's grip again and running down to the entrance.

He could see two security guards at the door, they looked like they were waiting for him, he knew that all he had to do was to get past them and he could have a few minutes with Sarah.

He could ask her why she was doing all this to him!

Tears flowed freely from his eyes, temporarily blinding him as he staggered towards the entrance.

A sharp pain in his abdomen as he fell to the ground, he had been tackled from the side by another security guard, the man had used brute force, knocking the air out of him.

"What do you want?" The man asked, his voice was like iron.

He eased the pressure from the knee he used to pin Alex, giving him room to breathe and talk.

"What do you want?" He asked again in that same voice, cold and steel like with no emotions behind it.

"I—I need… I need to get in." Alex wheezed, as he rolled away from the man's clutches, coughing violently as he did.

"You don't look like you booked a reservation here," The man replied, looking at Alex with scorn.

"I don't even think you can book a reservation here… while dressed like that." He continued, using his eyebrow to point at Alex's regular clothes.

Alex looked down at his faded t-shirt and khaki shorts with old brown leather shoes, they weren't fancy but they were always neat and freshly ironed, he knew they were nothing to be compared with the people who visited this kind of expensive place.

He stiffened his legs, the security guard's grip had loosened, with his last strength Alex pushed the buff man aside and ran towards the door, but the security guard was perfect at his job, he caught up with Alex and tackled him again, even harder this time, grinding his jaw on the hard pavement.

Alex screamed in pain as his head bounced off the rough pavement, he could feel blood trickling from his jaw. His scream had attracted other security guards and some people from inside the hotel.

He struggled to get to his feet despite the burning pain in his stomach and head.

There she was!

Sarah looked startled immediately she saw him, her expression quickly changed as she shifted into Bruce's arms and he dreaded what that meant.

He had seen traces of panic and fear in her face but she had covered it up almost immediately, she had covered it up with a fake smile as she took her eyes away from him.

Alex pushed through again, the door was shut, he banged the door as he screamed her name as loud as he could, he doubted that any of them could hear him through the noise, the room was probably noise proof.

Everyone in the room all looked towards the door.

His eyes went straight to her as her eyes avoided his, looking all over the room before finally landing on him. He knew she was definitely avoiding him.

The security guards caught up with him again, and this time they weren't lenient on him, they pinned him down roughly,

He had no chance of pushing through three buff security guards. His warm blood trickled on the hard floor as the guards tried to reduce the commotion.

"Release him!" The voice cut through the noise as everywhere became silent.

The guards eased their grip on him and dragged him towards where the voice had come from.

Evelyn came awake slowly. Painfully. A sharp ache pulsed inside her head and made her wince as she tried to open her eyes. What? She was facedown over an animal, no saddle. The animal’s spine dug into her hips and stomach. Her hands were bound. The lack of blood flow and frigid temps meant they were like ice blocks on the ends of her arms. Dammit, what if she had frostbite and was too far gone to even know it? She wriggled her fingers, and the returning blood made her gasp. She kept moving, tried to wriggle her legs but they were also bound. The struggle shifted her center of gravity until she was in danger of toppling upside-down beneath the animal and being trampled. Hell. Who’d done this to her? What did they want? The smell of musty fur was overpowering, making her throat heave as her stomach rebelled.“I’m going to be sick.” The contents of her stomach splashed against the gray talus that the horse was working hard to cross.
