Episode 6 : Greatest wish

The soft music was put to a stop all of a sudden and the patio become silent immediately after Louie's claim.

He get up from the floor crazily and clutched at Rex's wrist. His bloodshot eyes are wide open in astonishment.

" Rex! Rex! You are back ... my son is back. I thought I lost you Rex. This watch you have on belongs to... "

The words of Louie were interrupted by Karson who gripped his brother's arms disdainfully.

Rex was stunned by this occurrence. When Karson began to drag Louie away, he never takes his eyes off him.

Instead, he felt a pang of pity and guilt deep in his heart.

Rex failed to understand what has happened. Instead he felt the urge to save Louie from his brother.

" So you are the young man who has pulled off the odds and appears in my hall tonight? " The voice of Riley said behind Rex and he stiffened abruptly.

Slowly he turns around and graces the old man his attention. The smile on his face was sincere but also challenging.

Old Riley is a man with silver hair and scanty white beard. He appears to be still Handsome but not well-rested.

" Yes sir " Rex replied softly after regaining his lost voice. " I am Rex Louie "

" Hmm... A unique name I'd say " Riley drawled. " You see my grandson here, Khalil had been to me "

He began, pointing to Khalil who stood aside with pearl beside him. Rex tore his eyes away from the duo and grace Pa Riley with his gaze.

" Khalil wishes to win the competition at all costs. He goes ahead to make things difficult for you but still, you prove to be dominant till the end. For this, I shall reward you"

Khalil gasp in awe when he heard this and everyone did as well.

Surely, the majority of the people present aren't too glad.

" Sir I do not wish for ..."

" I will grant any of your wishes Rex Louie. Just say the word "

Now it's time for Rex to be thoughtful. There is nothing he Desires now after acquiring a money-lavishing system.

There is nothing he lacks anymore financially. Slowly Louie, Pa Riley's eldest son crossed his mind and he sigh.

The man had called his name even though Sheila said he was insane. He recognized the watch around his wrist even though he is deranged.

" I will like to meet the man from earlier. Louie, I mean "

Rex's strange request stunned everyone.

" Why will he want to be in the presence of that dirty man again? " He heard a woman mutters in disgust.

" He is insane. I wonder why he wants to see him " another whispered

Even Riley couldn't help but get taken aback. However, at last, he asked.

" You mean Louie? "

" Yes sir "

" Uh... Well, he never leaves his room until today. Tell you what Rex, once you won the race track tomorrow you shall be allowed to meet Louie "

This time Khalil couldn't hide his disgust anymore.

He slammed the glass cup of wine he was sipping unto the floor and left with Pearl beside him.

" Once I win the race I will be allowed to meet him? " Rex asked again to be sure after Khalil had left in anger.

" Well yes "

It has been said and done. The party soon resumes its nice valor. The music began again just as it had stopped.

Rex soon finds Sheila at a quiet side alone. He slowly walks up to her and sighs.

" Something wrong? " He asked her.

" Grandpa never notice me. You arrived today and already have his attention "

Rex could hear the sorrow in her voice. He feel inclined to hug her but he didn't.

" Maybe when you won the competition against Pearl you can get his smile then "

" I don't think that would happen Rex " She look away to hide the embarrassment in her eyes. " Mum managed to buy off all the officials before I can be elected. I don't think I will win "

" Then you shouldn't make her effort go to waste," He said smoothly and this made Sheila's heart skip a beat.

She had thought he would mock her but no. Instead, he gives her another tangible piece of advice.

" I never saw Khalil so stunned before but you made him earlier in Riley's Hall with your presence " She mutters and Rex shrugged his shoulder.

" He stunned me as well by brainwashing my girl and making me lose my father's last words "

" Hey..." She whispers when she realized he's getting emotional. " Come here, I will give you a hug "

Rex looks at her for some time. Her big round eyes stared back at him under the glasses she wore.

He finally goes into her arms and he allowed her to lean on him. Two orphans who knows not their true parents.

Rex patted Sheila's back softly and their fate got entwined that night unknown to them.

Thelma finally interrupted them with her presence. Sheila seeing her mum pulled away from Rex and lowered her eyelids shyly.

" I will like to speak with Rex. Can you excuse us, Sheila? "

" Yes Mum"

Sheila left the silent vicinity and Thelma walks towards Rex. However, she didn't look him straight in the eyes.

Instead, she stares ahead and sighs.

" I heard you are the errand boy of Rainbow Core College " She began.

" Was " He replied. " I was the errand boy but not anymore "

" Ohh " She drawls softly. " Well thank goodness you are not anymore. I would have called you a fool if you still are because my dad is ready to grant you any wishes but you choose to make it go to waste "

" No, I need to see that man "

" Louie? He is insane "

" And alive. He seems to... Recognized me and ..."

" Because he called you his son? "

Rex didn't reply. His blue eyes were only pinned on Thelma all through. He saw her scoff lightly then says...

" Twenty one years ago Louie had an accident that cost him almost everything he holds dear. He lost his sanity afterward. He is the black sheep of Riley's family. He calls everyone his son "

" But he knows my name "

" Because his son's name is also Rex! " She retorted swiftly, stunning the young man.

" As your new guardian Rex, I would advise you not to meet Louie. Your life is precious to your friends, to you, and..." She sighs. " And to my daughter who seems to be falling for you already "

Rex gulped down hard at this. It sounds more like a threat than an advice.

" After Louie lost everything he still got enemies all around him. Don't try to intervene. It will be a shame to lose something so fine and dominant as you "

Rex gulped down hard at this warning but hell, his heart never for once wavered.

Since he had been determined to meet Louie, he vow to win the race and get his heart's desire.
