Meanwhile, Tajima was together with the other villagers as he stared at the Village Chief.

He had an indifferent look which was a lot different from the indifferent look of other villagers.

It has been a long time since an Emergency was issued in the village. Whenever an Emergency was issued, it normally meant that it was on the verge of being destroyed, which truly worried them.

The village chief cleared his throat. His elderly voice was loud enough to reach everyone standing in front of him, “I received a notice from the Tsurui Village Chief. The Tsurui Village chief has already captured the Biei Village. It seems as though ours will be the next village he plans to attack.”

One of the villagers voiced out anxiously, “Village Chief, why does he wish to attack our village? We do not have any feud with him, right?”

“You all know that we are under the Chiba City and work directly for them. It appears that the Mayor of Toyama City Plans to capture Chiba City. To make sure that the villages cannot send reinforcements for the Chiba City, the Toyama City has ordered all the Village Chiefs under itself to attack the villages under Chiba City and capture them.”

Almost all the villagers were low-spirited after hearing the Village Chief. To think they would be attacked even though they haven’t done anything.

With a sharp light in his eyes, “I ask all men who can fight to prepare for a fight. Our village should have 300 men who can fight while our enemy has a little more than 500 men in their forces. Go back and return with your weapons. We shall not give up our land without bitterly fighting.”

All the men gathered raised one of their hands and cheered loudly, “HAAAAAAAAAAAIIIII!”

Only Tajima remained indifferent about this news. He thought in his head ‘No matter the place. There is no end of conflict.’

‘Well, I will have to execute my plans earlier…’ After almost all men dispersed away to get the weapon from their houses.

Tajima walked towards the Village Chief. His aura was unlike that of before. The indifferent aura vanished, and a strong aura was released from his body.

The men near the Village Chief were surprised because Tajima didn’t have such a strong aura before. They stood in front of the Village Chief, “Stop! Don’t take another step forward!”

Ignoring them, Tajima was about to walk past them. A guard couldn’t endure it any longer and swung his arm. His sword was about to slice off Tajima’s arm.

Tajima glared at him. The guard suddenly felt an invisible force collide with him and tossed him away.

“Does anyone wish to try again? I won’t be so polite the next time.” After he said those words, no guard was foolish enough to make moves against him.

Besides, if he wanted to harm the Village Chief, he could have easily done so with this power. The fact that the Village Chief was still safe meant that he wasn’t planning to harm him.

They lowered their weapons and let Tajima stand in front of the Village Chief.

With an indifferent look, Tajima said, “Make me the Commander in this upcoming fight.”

“What!?” The village Chief and the guards shouted in surprise at the same time. To think that this was what Tajima wanted to say.

“Exactly as you heard. I don’t want to waste too much time. Make me the commander in the upcoming fight. Let me order your men, and I will ensure your victory.” His words were cold with strong confidence.

The village chief remained cautious and asked him, “Why do you wish to be the commander? Give me the reason…”

“The reason is that if I do not assist you, then you will lose without a doubt.” His words caused the guards and the Village Chief to look at him with strong hostility.

They certainly didn’t like what he said to them on their face. It was like he didn’t believe them at all.

Tajima continued on, “How many years of peace has this village enjoyed? When was the last time that a man in this village took up a weapon? Five years? Ten years? And, what about this Village Chief of Tsurui Village? His men have just captured the Biei Village. Do you think they didn’t resist? They still lost. Do you know what that means? Your men are too incompetent as compared to his men.”

His explanation seemed to have poured a bucket of cold water on all of them. Their faces were facing because, within their hearts, they knew about it. However, they were afraid to accept it.

They thought that if they tried their hardest, it would work out somehow. Three hundred men vs. five hundred men. It wasn’t too large of a disparity, nor was it too low. The result would be a Pyrrhic victory for the winning side.

However, 300 weak and incompetent men vs. 500 strong men with high morale. The result would be a one-sided slaughter.

The village chief fiercely glared at Tajima, “If we are so incompetent, then why do you wish to take command? If the only thing left is for us to wait for a one-sided massacre, then what can you do?”

“The problem won’t be solved if you continue to rile me up. Naturally, I have my own methods. Besides, you all have around a complete day until they arrive. Follow my commands, and victory would be easy…”

“Very well…”

Though the Village Chief wasn’t too convinced. He knew that if Tajima had said so much. Tajima naturally had his own methods. The only thing he cared about was winning.

Tajima nodded and continued, “Very well… Then allow me to present you a condition of my own. Nobody other than you should know that those orders were from me. If you plan on leaking it to the Mayor or someone else, the next day, you along with your family’s bodies will be hanged at this very place.”

“You are threatening us!?” One of the guards was angry as he shouted at Tajima.

Tajima chuckled a little as he shook his head, “You can take it as a threat or a promise. The villagers will know the result though it will be a pity…”

“… Pity that you won’t be alive to see it.” After coldly saying that he turned around and started walking.

The guards who were left behind by the Village Chief’s side started talking to each other.

“Master, did you see that guy? He was too arrogant in front of you. He didn’t show you any respect and wants you to appoint him as the commander. I fear he has some other motives.”

“That’s right, master. He has even threatened you in front of us. If we don’t take action now, who knows what he will do.”

The Village Chief casually asked them, “If you all are so angry, then why did you not say anything when he was here? Why are you gossiping only when he is not in our sights? If you can, then go ahead and kill him. However, do not blame me for the result.”

Seeing the Village Chief acting like this, their anger and confidence slowly faded. Before any of the guards could speak any further, the Village Chief continued, “You didn’t sense it but I did. Chakra…”

“Are you sure what you sensed was Chakra, master? I mean, it’s known to every person in the village that this man is a drunkard.”

“Why would a Warrior come to such a rural village like ours? Even the weakest of the Warriors can be the guards at a city.”

With a shake of his head, the Village Chief started speaking, “That was most definitely Chakra. I have previously sensed this power when I went to the Chiba City to meet with the Mayor. As for why he has come here. Who knows why? Do you think we can know what is going on inside the minds of the Warriors?”

“Anyways, keep his information with you. I am not sure but it doesn’t seem like he was joking about killing us all if we spread his information.”

The guards remained silent but nodded. Although they weren’t convinced by this, since it was the Village Chief who ordered them. They had to obey him.
