Chapter 2

On the floor of the room and study table in the crowded room full of ancient medical books, Loris sat with one last medical book in his hand. He crumpled the paper with trembling hands.

His face looked very tired after reading so many books only to end up with a 'useless' scribble that he pinned on each page in sloppy writing.

"It's all for nothing," Loris said in a stifled voice. He covered his face with both hands, swallowing the bitter frustration.

The half-annoyed Loris stood up, pushing the chair violently. He froze momentarily, then threw the book before his eyes towards the back.

The book hit the wall, and the paper scattered everywhere in the cramped room. Loris sighed heavily at what had just happened before her eyes. But Loris chose to lie on the bed with some papers as her bedding.

Amid the silent atmosphere, Loris remembered the beginning of him being in her world.

It was the first time Loris realised he had entered a world that shouldn't be. His soul was not from this world. He was just an ordinary human from the earth.

Loris learned something new for the first time in this new world. They all used magic firearms as the most important magic training.

"Here, as you know, the difference in magic classes is seen from the level. From the lowest level F and the highest level S legendary. Not everyone has the grace to reach level S." a man with long white hair explained the basic theory in his class right before Loris' eyes.

The man paid more attention to Loris then, with sharp eyes directed at Loris, he was still focused on explaining. "That one's power here depends on magic and talent. Everyone has the opportunity to have magic but not talent. But when someone has talent, he will surely master magic itself." The man explained calmly.

At that time, Loris only nodded to accept all the basic material explained by her professor.

But theory sometimes misses the reality. Loris only realised it when he experienced this situation, where his magic level was E, but his ability was not at that level because of a hand injury.

A few months after the accident that Loris faced, he realised that him future was in the air.

That afternoon, he, who had just returned from his academy, chose to stand in front of the entrance of Federico's residence because he heard the sound of two men arguing until they were heard outside.

"Loris used to have an unusual talent. He was easily familiar with firearms, and his magic absorption was speedy. His talent developed rapidly at a very young age." The man explained before he sighed heavily.

The Professor paused momentarily but began to speak again, "but the recent decline is regrettable. I think the school is right to return her to her guardian. It's all for her good, Mr. Federico."

"It's all just a matter of time, prof! I have great faith in my son. Let him stay at the academy!" Reply from the man with a loud voice.

"I'm sorry, Lord Federico. But it is his trauma that is bonding him. In this case, the only way is to heal those wounds and traumas first before he can enter the shooting academy again. Or all his theories will be useless. You don't want that, do you?" Asked the man very piercingly.

Before the creak finally sounded and the door opened, Loris and the professor stared at each other for a few seconds.

The professor patted Loris' shoulder gently and smiled. "Loris, from now on, practice independently and care for your wounds. When things get better, I'll gladly accept you back." The professor said kindly before leaving before him.

It was at that moment that Loris fell silent. He felt his heart ache so strongly. He was pensive in his place, realising that no tomorrow could be worse than that accident.

Loris was stunned and opened his eyes. He realised that the flashback appeared in his dream briefly when he fell asleep for a moment.

Loris, who was a little surprised, quickly got up from sleep and realised that his room was like a broken ship. He chose to sit on the corner of the bed and began to remember that he had entered a new body as a mature soul. That was the key to the calmness in her attitude now.

"How did this happen?" muttered Loris to himself. He realised that he was back to the way he was before. He is incapable of doing anything, just like when he was an ordinary human.

Despite feeling unfair about his current position, Loris was mentally well-formed. He chose to stay calm and think of other plans to heal herself.

Loris looked down at the book he had studied. All the contents were useless for her recovery. Then he looked at his hands calmly. "It's already the third year. I can't just rely on doctors and medical books." Loris muttered to himself in a flat voice.

Loris realised that his father's efforts to bring in many doctors had been unsuccessful. None of them had cured him. He remained in a miserable condition.

Suddenly, his mother's face appeared in Loris' mind, and instantly, his heart was again saddened. He felt his existence was not worthy of his mother in this world.

The pressure and encouragement of his mother, who wanted Loris to become a shooter, continued to disturb his mind. Loris continued to hold her dizzy head, but moments later, he realised something.

Loris lifted his head and noticed his father's footsteps approaching the door of his room.

"Loris..." his father called as he knocked on his door.

Loris realised the state of his room was not good to show his father. The sight before his would make his father frustrated with his situation. Loris quickly got up and opened the door a small distance.

"Wait a minute, Dad." Loris peeked out.

He quickly closed the door to his room again because Loris didn't want his father to see inside.

While Federico, who snuck in frowned, "What's wrong? What are you hiding inside?" he asked suspiciously.

Loris shook his head and smiled. He immediately dismissed the awkward situation and invited his father to sit in the living room to divert his father's curiosity.

His father agreed, and at that moment, Federico embraced Loris in such a way. There was never any regret on the face of the middle-aged man whose hair was starting to turn white. He was very proud of his son, but one side of him could not hide his concern for his poor son.

"How are you doing? You're not frustrated, are you?" asked his father, trying to break the ice.

Loris, who heard that, gave a small gasp but tried to calm down and shook his head with a smile. "Of course not, father," Loris replied instantly.

He loosened the embrace and began to sit in the living room. The conversation between the clan patriarch and a son began to flow harmoniously.

They didn't do that often. Loris felt awkward and answered every question Fedrico threw at him.

A few minutes after the small talk, the atmosphere was tense. Federico paused momentarily, then looked at Loris intently, "After all, I'm the clan leader, Loris. I can't do much about the rules."

Federico's jibe made Loris realise his position. He chose silence and gave a small nod. Whatever would come out of his father's mouth, he would accept gracefully.

The middle-aged man stood up and turned his back to Loris, "Even so, I will try until the end. I want you to try too, Loris. Until you recover, you will immediately become a shooter." Federico added in a low and calm voice.

So calm that it made Loris look in the mirror. With one normal hand, Loris squeezed his pants very hard to restrain himself.

"Is it possible?" Loris thought furiously. He wasn't sure if it was possible to achieve it.

Even so, Loris noticed his father's final voice trembling. He didn't want to break his father's spirit.

"Alright, Dad," Loris replied instantly.

Hearing that, Federico turned around and put on a smiling face. He widened his smile with excitement. "I'm sure that day will come!" Federico exclaimed.

Loris responded to her father's words with a bitter smile. He didn't show it directly to Federico. But even if it was a speck, Loris also wanted to hope.

Federico immediately changed the wind around them, "Loris!" he called again.

Loris instantly looked up, curious.

"Tomorrow is the big day. An honoured guest will be visiting. Be prepared," Federico commanded without further telling the guest's identity.

Loris just nodded. As their conversation flowed again, Loris' heart pounded again. He gently felt the eyes on the back of her hand open slowly.

Sensing something strange, his other hand shook violently, and cold sweat collected on his forehead.
