Hi. I'm sorry, something came up at work and I have to finish these by the next morning. Instead, I will post more chapters in the weekend. Until then.
Rean slashes through the Direwolf leaping at him, getting a clean cut on its front left paw and leaving it weakly whimpering on the floor.A statis sound echoes from his Arrow. “Why are you going into the hallway, Rean? Go to 20th floor quickly!”“I’m buying short time for the team. There’s one who can’t walk yet.” Rean calmly answered as he slashed another Direwolf coming at him. “And didn’t you say it’s 21st?”“I was mistaken. He’s in 20th floor and stalling many Direwolves for a survivor. Go there fast and see what’s going on.”“Did you ask him whether he’s injured?” Rean asked.“He’s not answering.”Another Direwolf leaps at him, but it’s also slashed. He couldn’t bring it down with one slash this time, but he immediately follows up with a kick to the monster’s snout before slashing his sword down its face. The wolf monster howls in pain.“Hurry, Rean. His movement is strange.”A Direwolf was thrown back with a powerful kick, making a painful yelp.“Tell me his condition.” Rean sl
A bullet left its casing and flies towards the wolf in front. It hits it directly in its left eye, exploding it into a bloody mush.“Haing!” The wolf whimpers painfully. It immediately drops to the ground and paw the left side of its face, which has become wet by the blood oozing from its empty eye socket.“Bark!” The one behind it immediately replace its place in front and runs at me.But I don’t hesitate to shoot it either.I move the aim slightly and pull the trigger again. Another bullet leaves the barrel only to enter the inside of the wolf’s mouth. The wolf coughs blood and falls to the floor. It managed to disorient it for a second, but it starts running again.I shoot it again and got above its eyes this time, right in the center. It falls to the floor and slides on the floor sightly before stopping. Its mouth is wide open and blood is flowing out of its fangs. It’s dead.Right after that, the other two behind it runs alongside each other and coming straight at me.“BARK! BARK
The only reason Rean uses the normal stairway is because he’s trying to barricade the way to the 18th floor’s emergency stairs. The team will be using it to get to the roof, which means that he has to do his best in minimizing their encounter with monsters. And he was right to do that. It’s really hard for him to even get to the stairs because the area near the 18th floor’s normal stairway is crowded by monsters. He has to slash through Direwolves to make way, and then he would encounter a bunch of Prattas right in the stairway. But thanks to his marvelous swordsmanship, he could get through the crowd.By the time he arrived in 20th floor’s lobby, the place is swarmed by Prattas.Pratta is a plant type monster. It’s 1 to 2 feet tall creature with multiple vine-like tentacles moving around their bodies. They have no eyes, but they’re able to sense where things are using their tentacles and the hearing holes on each side of their bodies.SRRK SSRRK –is the sound they make when they move
Rean looks at me with bewilderment coloring his face.“What do you mean, Terrence? We have to follow the instructions.” Rean tries to convince me.Natalie stays quiet, but I know she’s just waiting for my explanation.I actually don’t know how to say it to them.I mean, I can’t just tell them that there are still survivors that we haven’t checked in the upper floors. They would want to know how I know that, and it would be very, very, troublesome to explain the cold and hard truth. Not to mention the absurdity of ‘the truth’. It would be impossible for them to believe me even if I talk until foam forms in my mouth. So there is only one way to make them listen to me.And that is me becoming a lunatic.“I hear someone asking for help from the upper floors.”Rean looks at me and blinks. “What?”“What?” Natalie repeated. That statement must’ve caught them off guard.“It’s true! I can hear them asking for help! I know where they’re hiding! Uhh… I think?” I scratch my cheek nervously as I l
“Hurry and blow the door!” Rean yelled.I don’t have to be told twice. We’re running because I need to shoot in a distance.I turn around and immediately aim, while Rean turns around with his sword ready to protect me.Instead of targeting the door, I aim for the flooring right outside the emergency door. The bullets I’m using is the leftover fire bullets from the first exam. I was reserving it for the boss, but I figured it’s better to use it here rather than risking my points and me mauled by these monsters. The good perk of these fire bullets is that they explode on impact. So whatever surface they come in contact with, they will explode in small area. If they’re used in clusters, they can substitute a grenade.I pull the trigger and fire three consecutive shots at the flooring. A Direwolf arrives at the spot at the same time the bullets hit the flooring. The explosion is instantly and the flooring crumbles below the beast, sending it down to the floor below it as it howls.“Nice s
“Before you separate, please tell Terrence where did you lost the young lady, ma’am.” Natalie speaks through the Arrow.“Young lady Ruby wears a red dress that reaches her knees, red shoes, and she has her hair tied up with a big red ribbon.” The woman explained.“Okay. Ruby red. Got it.” I nod.“Here. Show her this and she will understand that you don’t mean harm.” The woman gave me a handkerchief.“Wow…” It looks really different from the handkerchief I see in stores. There’s a big logo on it. “Okay. Um, what is your name, mam?”“My name is Nanny Heather and she’s my young lady Ruby.” She said.I keep the handkerchief and nod. “Yes, you’ve mentioned her name. Alright, you are Nanny Heather. If I see her, I’ll tell her you sent me. Hopefully she will come with me.”Nanny Heather looked concerned once again, but she tries to hold it. “Yes. Please, save my young lady!”I give her a thumb up and a smile. “I will!”“Come here, Terrence.” Rean signals me.I approach him and he gave me two
“There are three average office rooms on your right. There’s a pantry and restrooms on the left hallway, along with office area, meeting room, and lobby. The normal stairway and elevators are in the lobby, it’s closer to the furthest office to your right.” She listed the places in the floor in an orderly manner.“The elevator is in the other side of the floor, right?” I confirmed.“Yes.”“Okay.”Her voice was calm when she said all of that. A normal person would think that nothing’s wrong, but the fact that she doesn’t ask a follow up question shows that something ‘is’ wrong.Besides, it’s significant contrast to her expressive tone before. She’s obviously upset, but she knows she can’t argue with me. So she’s just following what I want.To think that just a few minutes ago, she was the one expecting me to follow anything she wanted. But now the tables have turned.‘Heh. What a satisfying turn around.’ I can’t stop smiling. The Direwolves’ sounds wake me up from my daydream and I inst
As the tentacle monster sings their painful cries, I look around the room. It’s just a regular average office, with a white design desk, a computer, a rolling chair, bookshelf, and a small snack bar. Seems like one of the executives’ private office.I walk around the desk to see anything behind it, and I found a person lying there on the floor with his eyes closed.“Oh thank God, you’re here.” I praised out loud.I don’t really remember which office this guy is trapped in in this floor. But I’m very lucky to have found him in the first one. It saves me some time.I walk over to him and examine his body. Judging by his outfit, he’s obviously a worker. He looked a bit older than Michael, probably in his 30s.There’s a trail of blood from the side of his head to his hair, which signifies a head injury. And he also has black eye, on his right eye, which meant that he had been involved in a fight.“Well. You’re unconscious just like in my memories. That’s good. But we can’t get out of here
