Yesterday.

In the military compound in the northeast district, a dark jeep stopped in front of the gate.

The soldier in duty walks to the driver’s side to check on the passengers.

The window was rolled down and a sweet old man smiled at the soldier.

“ ‘ello, boy.” He greeted with a soft and cracky voice that could melt anyone’s heart.

The soldier grinned when he saw who it was. “Hey~ If it isn’t the old man! How you doin’?!”

The old man chuckled softly. “An inch into the grave. Think you can let me and my kids through?”

The soldier peeked inside the car, where two youngsters sat at the back and one very attractive lady beside the old man.

He winked at the lady, who smiled charmingly at him. Then a sound came from his walkie-talkie.

“Yo. That the old chief’s car?” The other line asked.

“Yeah. Old doofus is here.” The soldier replied, grinning at the old man who pouted at that nickname he just gave.

“Bust him in.”

“Yo.” Then he gave a signal and the gate was opened.

“Thank you, Root.” T
