“We are so thankful for your help. Please, take this in return for your hard work.” The chief gave us a parcel filled with foods and snacks. “Thank you. But I will still report this to the manager and you still have to pay the full price of the upgraded request level.” Rean said. A drop of sweat rolls on the side of the chief’s face. Seems like they really can’t get out of it. Even though money really isn’t the problem but the shame is. “I understand.” The chief said heavily. Ian ushered us to the car first because he wanted to talk to the chief. Probably to soften the blow. He was known to be a speaker among out batch, and he’s good at talking with clients better. So Rean let him. After exchanging goodbyes, we returned to our car and went on our way. “That was harsh, Rean.” Ian commented, referring to his way of talking to the chief. “I was just thinking. If we’re tricked, who knows how many seniors he had tricked?” Rean said as he drives. “Assuming IF he had. He could’ve just
I stop in front of the dungeon’s entrance. Well, it’s still tens of meters away from the cave’s entrance, but this spot here is designated as a safe distance. There are barricades here with 2 security guards guarding it. Before, in the exam, Terrace proctors stayed right at the cave’s entrance in case the students in need of immediate extraction. But there was also additional military backup right at this barricade in case anything goes wrong with the exam. Now, there are only these security guards. Terrace is such well-known after all, and many citizens rely on us for any kinds of help. So it makes sense if military was involved. “What’s your name and class, kid?” One of the guards asked. As soon as I stopped before the barricade, I was brought to their post for ID and belonging checking. See? Even before I say anything, he already assumed that I’m from Orion Terrace. “Terrence Blair from 3-A.” I answered. The man asks for my Arrow and I raise my hand to him. He input my ID in h
I put on my cool face and walk over to her. I offer her my hand. “Milady.”She looks nervous, and her cheeks are faint rose. She clears her throat and puts her hand in mine. Then I help her up and even puts my hand behind her back to keep her from falling.“H-Hey where are your hands?!” She nervously asked.“I’m just making sure you don’t hurt yourself. The spikes are painful.” I show her the graze on my elbow. I didn’t bother to wipe the blood, but due to the temperature, the wound and the blood around it dried quickly.“Ew.” She looked disgusted.“Go first. I’ll make sure you don’t fall to your death.” I ignored her and instead, tie the rope around her hips. She tenses, but she relaxes when I pull away.“Alright. I’ll go first.” Then she climbs up.I instinctively look down when I see below her skirt. But I realize what she’s wearing and hold the chuckle inside. Then something very heavy fell on my head, which then slides down to both of my shoulders. I realize it’s her and I try to
“Thank you for helping me!” The girl said.I stare at her flatly. “Just what are you thinking? Going in here alone? And you’re a mage.”She instantly gets upset. “Hey! I’m here to train myself, alright?! There’s something coming up soon, and I just want to make sure I’m ready!”I cross my hands. “But alone? And with nothing whatsoever?”She’s not bringing anything with her. No bag, no weapons, nothing.“Grr! I told you! I was training!” She squeaked.“With no weapon and no bag of items? Really?” I raise my eyebrow. She starts fidgeting. “I was experimenting something…”If she was an NPC, I would give her a good earful to make impression. But since she’s not, I’ll just go easy on her.“Bird brain.”She tilts her head. “What did say?”“You heard me. You’re stupid.”She flinches. “What the hell?! What did you say that to me?!”“No one comes to a dangerous place unprepared, stupid.” I scolded.“I’m not unprepared! I’m a mage! My magic can do anything!”“You just said you’re out of mana.”
“I can’t believe you beat those two with a gun. That must be a good gun.” She complimented.“Weapons don’t make the user. The user makes the weapon. You need high agility to use a gun in a closed space.” I felt that she’s scrutinizing me.She looks at me nervously. “My uncle would say the opposite on that one. But, I meant to compliment your gun. I thought guys like it when their weapons are complimented.”“Everybody does. But you take a bad guess on me.”“Ouch.”“So what are you good at?”“I told you. I’m a mage. And a good one.” She smirks.I give her my flat face, showing clearly that I’m not amused by that. “Hm. Define good.”“As you can see, I can do Fire. I can also do better than that, a level 2 Fire which is an AoE. And then ice magic combined with various skills, but I can’t do that without my weapon. And then white magic like Heal and Curia. You know Curia? It’s—”“Yeah, it’s curing magic. You can erase poison with it.” I replied quickly. She smiles, looking amused. “Oh~ A g
Now that I have a companion who can cast Fire for me, I don’t have to worry about spending fire bullets. That first one was just for surprise, and there will be more to come if the situation fits. But other than that, I’ll count on the girl to do it for me. Both of us managed to find a hiding place from Khione’s first icicle wave. But now the Ice Fairy notices she has guest and is becoming more alert. Suddenly, a big icicle was thrown to the wall in my side. CRASH TRAANG As soon as it shatters, I immediately leap away to avoid the thrown fragments, tumbling on the ground in the process. “Ugh! Just what the hell—" I grumble as I get up. But as soon as I do, though, I hear something crashing behind me in rows. When I turn to look, I see rows and rows of icicles are falling down like waterfall alongside the wall. And it’s coming straight at me. “What the hell?!” I immediately get up and run. ‘I don’t remember she has this move! She was just hurling icicles and giant snowballs bef
The storm only lasted for 6 seconds but it feels longer than that. As soon as it’s over, I immediately chug down some potions to get myself back to normal. I’m freezing all over, so I immediately chug a potion to make it better. This Freeze effect can only be cured by magic or antidote potion, so I chug down that too. I thought of using Heat Potion that I just got, but the potions have slightly risen my temperature, so I’ll save that for later. The mist on the ceiling had also receded back to Khione. I notice something. The bullet holes, that I made before, had not yet recovered. They’re still there, staining her previously porcelain white skin with black spots. Seeing that, I know exactly what must be done to defeat her. I wait for another Fire from the girl, but even after 10 seconds, there is no magic casted on Khione. I curse. “What is she doing?” ‘Did she faint?’ Is the first thing in my mind. Obviously because she’s wearing skirt, which exposed her feet to the tremendously
The icicles change direction, but instead of being thrown, they are engulfed in flames and then break into tiny pieces. I know that was the girl’s doing, so I let her deal with the Ice Fairy as I recover myself. Khione’s white body is now covered in grey soot that for some reason doesn’t go away. Seeing this wound on her body, she turns to the girl’s direction. But the girl quickly hides herself, so Khione doesn’t know where she is. ‘It’s looking for me.’ The girl becomes wary. But that was her intention. ‘That scream was his. Was he hurt badly? Was I out for too long?’ That scream that woke her was a painful one, and she’s worried that something bad had happened to her savior. So she hurriedly cast Fire as soon as she came to. But now she’s conflicted between running to save him or just stay and distract the monster from here, because he specifically said not to worry about him. She peeks at the monster again. The mist swirls around it, but they’re faint and glows rather bright.
