There stood the lady from last night, holding the boy's hand while she spoke. Jake frowned when he realized that the boy was looking directly at him. For some reason, seeing the boy made him feel uneasy. Not because of any bad feeling, although he got scared at first because of the strange vibe he gave off. No, it wasn't the boy's weird aura that unsettled him; it was something else. Something deep and dark, a dark cloud that surrounded him and shrouded him in a sense of doom and sadness. However, he knew he wouldn't be able to describe exactly what it was. He simply just knew that it felt very wrong for the boy to be near him. Who could he trust? Without thinking he reached for his phone, pulled it from the charger, and punched in 911 without hesitation. The phone rang several times before someone picked up. "Emergency Room. How may I help you?" She sounded polite, but she was anxious to speak to somebody else."I'm calling about my family," he responded nervously. "My mother and my sisters. My father is missing, and-""Okay, sir. Would you like to fill out a Missing Person's Report? Do you have anyone, in particular, you'd like me to contact?"Without pausing to consider it he spoke. "No. I don't care what my family looks like. Just please, please find them!"For the next half hour, he filled out a report detailing all that had happened since the day before. He was able to walk around and touch the furniture, the old wooden dresser, and the wall in the living room and he even found some pictures lying on the floor. But what he loved best about the place were the walls that were covered in paintings of the different people who lived there, some old women and a young couple. He recognizes it from when he was small, watching his mother cook. When she put the food onto the dining table, he felt proud that she had cooked the meal herself. Now it's all too real, a reminder of home. Eric sits quietly next to the bed in a small room, trying to process what just happened. The only sound is the rustling of papers. He picks up one of the documents and reads the front page. It says that the owner's death. Eric's stomach clenches violently. He doesn't want to know why, but he also wants to find someone to ask. Someone to know what just happened. He needs help. He closes the book and stares ahead at the wall, hoping that the person that will come in to save him from the madness of that house won’t be able to read his mind. Everything became quiet. There was no noise, no voices. Nothing. No one.Then Thomas was finally able to breathe again and he took in a deep breath, gasping lightly before he breathed deeply again, closing his eyes, feeling relieved, as though a huge weight had just fallen off his shoulders and disappeared.
