They don’t think he is suffering from some form of schizophrenia, nor any kind of mental illness related to what happened to Emma; in fact, they are certain it has to do with something far more traumatic. However, neither psychiatrist nor I can explain precisely what happened. The doctors have said they cannot tell us more than they have already explained, but we believe that something terrible occurred while he was asleep. Whatever it was, it left him incapacitated for the rest of the night. When he woke up, he seemed completely lucid and able to reason.
