"So, it was that easy for you to replace me, wasn’t it?" she asked, her voice trembling as she tried to mask the hurt but failed.
Benjamin narrowed his eyes, confused by her accusation.
Emily continued, her emotions spilling over with every word.
"Come to think of it, all these years, you pretended to be the perfect gentleman! And here I was, feeling guilty about breaking up with you so suddenly, when all this time, I was the one being played!"
Benjamin’s anger flared.
"You’re one to talk, Emily," he muttered through gritted teeth.
"You had no problem finding someone else the moment you rejected my proposal and ended things.“
”You’d already moved on before I even proposed, yet you’re accusing me of being dishonest? How ironic."
Emily’s words caught in her throat.
Benjamin wasn’t wrong, but he wasn’t entirely right either.
It might have seemed like she’d moved on, but the truth was, she hadn’t accepted Marcus’s proposal or advances.
Everything he did was one-sided, and she’d never encouraged him.
Amanda, sensing the tension, seized the moment.
She hooked her arm through Benjamin’s and leaned in close, murmuring slyly,
"It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks of you, or how these unfortunate souls look down on you. I’ll always stand by your side, my love."
Benjamin knew she was just trying to defuse the situation, so he fought back a smile.
But his expression seemed to be misinterpreted.
Marcus’s face twisted with anger and jealousy. He let out a loud scoff.
"Such a bimbo... The bigger the boobs, the smaller the brain."
But on the other side, Emily reacted differently.
Despite her cold exterior, a wave of sadness washed over her.
That was enough to her.
Unable to bear the humiliation any longer, she turned and walked away.
Noticing Emily’s departure, Celine stepped forward, her voice dripping with disgust.
"You really are shameless, Benjamin. After all the lowly things you’ve done, anyone thinks you’d have gained a shred of dignity.”
“But no, you’re just a leech, jumping from one rich woman to another."
Amanda flashed a mocking, icy smile.
"Perhaps if you had any gold of your own, some handsome, worthwhile man might actually look your way,"
She retorted, leaving Celine both flustered and furious.
Marcus grabbed Celine’s hand, stepping in.
"Let it go, Celine. Nothing but disappointment comes from this fool."
"I assure you, once this lovely lady opens her eyes, she’ll find her jewels and house stripped away by this deadbeat."
"And when that happens, we’ll have the pleasure of saying, ‘I told you so.’"
Amanda smirked sarcastically.
"I’d rather be broke and hungry beside Benny here than rich, in denial, and desperate like you, darling. But thanks for the unsolicited advice."
"How dare you speak to me like that?" Celine snapped. "You’re nothing but a naive little girl, and when this is over, you’ll be left with nothing!"
Marcus chimed in, his tone dark.
"As for you, Benjamin Moore, don’t think you can walk around freely after stealing the Dragon’s Eye!"
"You think you can do whatever you want just because you’ve got some delusional woman backing you?"
"Well, watch your back. I’ve got my eyes on you."
Benjamin clenched his jaw, his voice low and dangerous.
"I’m not going anywhere, Marcus. I’m standing right here."
Marcus took a slight step back, intimidated by Benjamin’s tone but hiding it well.
"You’ve got the nerve to act tough?"
He yelled, signaling his guards, who immediately drew their guns and aimed them at Benjamin.
Amanda detached herself from Benjamin and stepped forward, her voice calm but firm.
"Let me make this clear. I’ve heard your threats, and I don’t appreciate them."
"In case I didn’t introduce myself properly earlier, my name is Amanda Williams—daughter of Timothy Williams, the tech mogul."
"You should know what that means. I have connections across the entire state."
"So, my advice?"
"Don’t make any stupid decisions or take rash actions unless you’re ready to face the consequences."
Celine and Marcus were left speechless, staring at her in stunned silence.
