Lincoln didn't realize a car had stopped behind him when he was trying to pass through the gate to go back and look for Byron who was obviously still in the yard, probably getting cooked alive.

The sound of the burning place and the fire made it impossible to hear the cars driving towards him, not until a bullet crashed on his right hand. As he turned, he saw Derek pointing his gun right at his face.

There was no time to alert Tbaj, he had gotten to his car and was still being shot at when Lincoln himself was pushed into Derek's car.

It was after Tbaj was smart enough to zoom off, that Derek walked over to him to ask for Byron's whereabouts.

“Oh, he's in that burning yard?” Derek laughed, “Hahaha! Funny!” He said coldly.

“You must really think I'm a fool to believe that.”
