When your life is weird enough that travelling half across the world by sea in a single morning doesn't freak you out, you know you need a break. But unfortunately for Shiro, the weirdness of his life doesn't allow for breaks either.
As he laid on his bed to get some extra shut-eye, someone knocked on the front door of his house. He was too lazy to answer it and remained on his bed whining about it.
"Oh, come on" he lamented
"I just got back"
"Can't someone just let me sleep in peace"
"Even if it is just five minutes"
Soon the knocking stopped and it was then that Shiro remembered that he had left the door open.
"Oh, shit"
By the time he realized what was going on, there was a stranger in his room and he was jumping out the window.
"What's with the grin?" Shiro wondered as he looked back at the crazy looking guy that was after him.
"Do these guys ever get tired?" He asked as he kept running.
Shiro ran until the was far enough from him house and in an open area, then he waited for his pursuer to arrive
As soon as the crazy guy came into view, Shiro felt a tap on his shoulder.
"Hello, Anderson" a familiar voice said. Shiro turned around and saw Andrew.
"What's up, Clipper" he replied.
"Nothing much" Andrew answered
"I'm here for the test"
"What test?" Shiro asked, wondering if there was any time he planned a test then the realization him.
"Oh" he said
"Orie sent you, didn't he?" He asked and Andrew replied "yes"
"Well" Shiro said
"For today's test..."
"...beat up that crazy looking guy over there" he said, pointing to the guy that was just arriving.
"You mean the one that looks like he obviously wants to kill you?" Andrew asked
"Yes, that one" Shiro answered
"Why don't you take him out yourself?" Andrew asked
"He looks more like your problem than mine" he added
"You wanna pass the test or not?" Shiro asked with a straight face
"Yes of course" Andrew replied as he readied himself for battle.
The enemy wasted no time in making the first move and going after Shiro. His dash was straight forward, fast, and full of killing intent. The blade in his hand was sharp and his swing went straight for Shiro's neck. But right before he could connect the attack, a gust of wind sent him flying to the side.
The wonder in his mind was not for the gust of wind that pushed him away but for the young man that stood still and looked him in the eyes as he tried to make his move.
"Who smiles like that?" He wondered as he got from his fall. Then he turned his gaze to the one who hit him with the gust of wind.
"I'll kill that one first"
Andrew returned his opponent's gaze with a smile and took a stance. A gale surrounded his hands as he clenched his fists, a vortex of wind covered his feet as he spread them apart, and almost instantly after he took the first step, he landed a direct hit on the enemy's face.
Shiro was impressed by the move but he felt that something was off. Instead of continuing the attack, Andrew began to slowly back away from his opponent. Soon he noticed that blood was dripping from Andrew's hand, the same hand that he used to punch his opponent in the face.
As the enemy stood up, Shiro got looked at his face and realized why Andrew's hand was bleeding.
"Oh, I know this guy" he said
"Kebab..." He added
"Kebab the shredder"
The name "Kebab the shredder" is one that makes everyone in the world of bounty hunters take a step back and think. With the exception of his nasty attitude, the reason people distance themselves from him was that he could pull out blades from any part of his body.
"The guy is like a porcupine" they say. And he was mostly known for cutting his targets to pieces; hardly recognizable pieces. They also said he could breath fire.
Shiro called out to Andrew and told him to be careful.
"He can bring out blades from all parts of his body" he said out loud.
"Yeah, I can see that" Andrew replied
"So how do I beat him?" He asked
"Well I don't know" answered
"Just don't let him hit you"
"Oh, great" Andrew said as he sighted Kebab coming towards him. This, time there were many short blades on his hand and Andrew knew that he should let those hands touch him.
Kebab got close and threw a punch and Andrew was quick to evade, or at least he thought he was. As he distanced himself from the crazy knife guy, he noticed that there was a little more than a scratch on this face. A second attack came and the same thing happened. And it kept happening; everytime Kebab launched an attack and felt that he had fully evaded it, he discovered that it wasn't the case. This kept happening until Andrew began noticing that the blades grew longer at the instant of the attacks.
"So that's how he does it" Andrew said with a smile.
"Hmm"
Before Kebab could launch his next attack, Andrew suddenly vanished from his sight. The next thing he saw was Andrew beside him ready to throw a punch.
"They never learn, do they?" He said to himself
"You're only going to hurt yourself" he said in his thoughts as he looked at Andrew.
Andrew threw his fist hard but stopped right before it hit Kebab in the face and instantly, a strong wind blew in the direction of the punch a sent his opponent flying. Kebab was quick to recover but Andrew was quicker to launch his next attack and the direction of the punch this time was down.
Kebab managed to move out of the way but Andrew was quick to follow him and launch the next attack. His fists were not punching directly but he could still land hits on his enemy.
Though it appeared to be the case that Andrew had the upper hand, it wasn't. All his hits connected but their impact was minimal. He was also running out of energy and his opponent knew this.
Kebab withstood the attacks and patiently waited for his chance. The attacks from Andrew were bearable even though they were very annoying. He knew that if he waited for the strength of the winds to reduce, we could easily win, and he waited.
It wasn't long before Kebab saw his chance. A little misfire from Andrew mixed the realization of his loss of power gave Kebab enough time to close the distance between them.
Andrew gave up. He was exhausted and had no energy left to defend himself. He could not think of anyway he could get himself out of such situation. All he could do was think about the inevitable.
"THE TEST IS OVER" said a familiar voice that Andrew seemed to have forgotten. By the time he realized what was going on, lightning struck down the enemy before him and sent him to the ground.
"Oh" he said in realization
"I forgot Shiro was here"
"What exactly was the test anyway?" Andrew wondered but didn't ask about it. Shiro told him that he passed and that was all he knew.
As what happened after that, they met up with the rest of the crew and had fun for the rest of the day. Shiro was the one paying, with Dave's card of course.
As for Kebab the shredder, he was left to the mercy of whichever hunter that was lucky enough to come across him and collect the bounty on his head.
SHIN SEKAI SECRET: Orie and Shiro both have a similar style of fighting. This is mostly because Orie was the one that taught Shiro how to fight.
"The breeze in the west shall become the storm in the east" "It shall become a powerful force in the north" "And a sight of awe in the south" "And when it returns to the west..." "It shall be unstoppable" "My dear boy, Andrew Clipper" "These are not mere words" "This is your story" On hearing this, Andrew opened his eyes. He was on his knees and Orie stood beside him, placing a hand on his head. The room was dark and was lit by seven candles, and there was no one else in the room with them. Though all the doors and windows in the room were closed an intense wind blew within it. Gradually, the wind got stronger and blew ferociously around the empty room. It was strange that the seven candles didn't go off. "You are a storm that will sweep through all" "A wind that can move lands" "A reckoning force of greatness" "An unbreakable wind" "That, is what you are" Shiro was waiting for them outside the room. Throughout his the time he was wa
The new world tournament was one unique tournament. Despite the fact that it was held by a school and it's participants were staff and students, it still managed to draw worldwide attention. One contributing factor to this could be that the Shin-sekai academy was a prestigious school and was attended by the children of many of the world's elites but the major factor was that it proved to be more entertaining than many others in the world. The structure of the tournament was divided. The teachers' tournament took place first then the students' came after. After winners had been decided from both sides, the two winners would then have a face off. The winner of the previous teacher's tournament was Fuji Waramaki who had remained undefeated for five years. He also won all the face-offs with the student champions. The teachers tournament was full of old faces and the only two new faces in the tournament were Orie and Natsumi. Not many expected a different result from the teach
Just in case you were wondering where the fight was happening, the SHIN SEKAI company built a large stadium in the middle of the island where all roads cross. It was not exactly a hard place to find; in fact it was the most findable place in all of the island. The city was crowded with people from all over the world who were there for many different reasons. With the exception of those that came to spectate the matches, the most common visitors to this event were scouts and reporters. The tournament may not do much for the teachers, but it had the power to determine the future of the students that participated. "Ellie Porter here, reporting live from stadium one" a woman spoke with a clear voice as she stood with a microphone in front of a camera man. "As you can see, people from all over the world have come to witness the first match of the new world tournament" "This tournament was first introduced thirteen years ago on the same year that the school was built"
"Ellie Porter here" "Live from the inside of the stadium and best seat in the house" "The starting buzzer for the match has been sounded but neither of the contenders have moved from their starting positions" "Cal is taking his time to charge up his power but we have no idea why Orie hasn't moved yet" "I still stand on my support for him but he has done what the rest of the world consider to be the greatest mistake in the history of this tournament" Ellie was right. Everyone that won against Cal in the previous tournament was powerful but that wasn't the only reason they won; they were able to win because they stopped him from charging up properly. The last person that let him charge up fully got knocked out in one hit and that was the expectation most of the crowd had for Orie. Soon, Cal had finished charging up. One could tell by the steam-like aura that could be seen emanating from his body. He got ready to move as the cheering of the crowd got louder; he was con
You never truly appreciate a miracle unless you heard of it before it happened. That moment when the thing you thought was just too impossible begins to unfold before you for the very first time. There is no look more precious than that of one who has had such experience. Miracles happen only once. After that, it becomes a possibility. Cal and Orie were initially rated on a seven to one ratio. This meant that the officials of this tournament believed that Cal was at least seven times more powe6r than Orie and seven times more likely to win. At the current time the ratio had become ten to one. It seemed hopeless for the few that had put their faith in Orie. The match wasn't over but the situation made them feel the winner was already decided. "What is he doing in there?" "Does he have a death wish?" "Just give up already!!"even some of those that were on his opponent's side felt pity for him but Orie was not one to dwell on pity. He could not hear their words, al
There was complete silence in all parts of the stadium. It wasn't that people had nothing to say but what could they say that could explain what just happened before their eyes? They just watched as the referee ran in to confirm the outcome. It took longer than usual as the referee also had his doubts but in the end he had no choice but to declare Cal unable to continue. The silence broke immediately he stood up to declare Orie the winner. The doubt of many began to flow out in words. "IT'S A LIE!!" "THIS IS BULLSHIT!!" "THIS GAME IS RIGGED!!" There was no word of doubt that was not spoken at that moment. Even when the medics came out to put Cal on a stretcher, people still thought it was an act. What could Orie do? He had just won a match and no one believed it. There was hardly anyone cheering for him, all the loud voices expressed nothing but doubt, hate, and disbelief. Despite all the hate he was getting, he just cracked a smile and walked out of the arena
Chris Vanadium. The only reason he didn't make it to the finals as much as Cal was that he faced Waramaki in most of the semifinals. He is one of the few people that have been able to beat Cal in the previous tournaments. He is also a one time champion and the one he beat to earn that title was none other than Fuji Waramaki. There were many reasons to fear him, but most feared attribute of his was the speed of his blade. Yes, he fights with a sword and he is really good with it; so good that a large percentage of his matches end in less than a minute. Anyone that saw his previous match was immediately reminded of how dangerous he was, even some that had faith in Orie in the previous match lost it for this one. To sum things up on how dangerous he was, the chance of him making it to the final match of the current tournament was ninety-nine percent. Though Orie's match was the first of round one, in round two, his match was the third. Not many had high hopes for this match beca
"This is my day" "This is my day" "This is my day" It kept repeating but Natsumi could not understand what it meant" "This is my day" She knew she had forgotten something "This is my day" She was sure she had forgotten something "This is my day" Something that would help her discern the situation. "This is my day" It stopped as soon as she realized what it meant. She remembered that when she thought it was Orie's birthday, he had told her these words. She remembered how he told her of the four market days of his tribe and that he shared his name with one of them. She remembered that he told her how the days affected his power, and this made her the least surprised person among the audience when Orie got back up on his feet. "WHAT... THE... F***!!!!?" Ellie screamed at the camera "How much blood does this guy have?" "He's lost so much yet he is still standing" "What kind of immortal dragon sh** is this" "This is not easy to believ
