"I always wanted to be a hero. I wanted to be the one that everyone could put their faith in no matter the situation. I wanted them to have no fear as long as I was around."
"But here I lay. Alone, waiting for my strength to return while the enemy slays my people."
"I feel helpless"
"I feel weak"
"I feel pain"
Shin lamented as he laid on the ground unable to make a move. Tear flowed out of his eyes as he looked up into the sky.
Then suddenly, a voice came to him saying
"Get up!'
"But I can't" Shin replied
"Get up you foolish son of mine" the voice said again
"There is no weakness In you"
"The numbness in your feet is a lie"
"The fear in your heart is an illusion"
"The pain you feel does not exist"
"So get up"
"Get up, oh son of grace"
"Get up and fight"
"Let them feel your power"
"LET THEM HEAR THE THUNDER!!"
Suddenly, Shin no longer felt any pain in his body. His breathing was fine, his movements were perfect. The only thing different was he no longer had his lightning.
He tried activating it but his lightning seemed to be gone. He tried again but it still didn't work.
"What now father" he said as he looked up into the sky, then an idea suddenly struck him.
He snapped his fingers and the result was a loud roaring thunder that sent an enormous shockwave destroying everything in its path.
"Let them hear the thunder" Shin said smiling as as he took off with a sonic boom.
The enemies were still rampaging through the city when they heard something that sounded like thunder get closer and closer. At first they thought it was a storm, but they looked up and saw a clear blue afternoon sky. Then they looked behind them and saw Shin storming through.
His appearance had changed from what it used to look like. His hair was no longer white but pure black, the blue in his eyes turned gray and presence he emitted was strong.
As he approached, anyone that got close to him died on the spot due to how loud and powerful the thundering sounds he was emitting were.
"LONG RANGERS!!" the Prophets yelled, and all the Nihon long rangers turned their attention to Shin and started firing. But it yielded no positive result.
It didn't matter what they threw at him, it didn't matter how powerful it was, as soon as Shin snapped his fingers, it was repelled by thunder. Soon the Prophets had to step in to try and stop his advancement.
Zephyr decided to be the first of the Prophets to give Shin a taste of his power.
"I see you've become more destructive that earlier but I know what this is" he said to Shin as he approached
"This is just the final act before your flame blows out"
"You might be strong right now but I am still much more power than you"
"So bring it on boy, you have the honor of meeting your end by my hands"
Shin paid little attention to the words that came out of Zephyr's mouth. He just looked at Zephyr and said, "even with all the loud thundering sounds around me, your voice still managed to be the most annoying sound I'm hearing"
"It seems to cause me more damage than your actual attacks"
Zephyr became infuriated by Shin's words. Without care for the lives of his men(not that he cared in the first place), he unleashed a tornado and send it in Shin's direction. The tornado tore through everything that was near it, houses didn't stand a chance against it and neither did the trees. Nothing could stand against it and every one that saw it immediately fled for their own safety.
There wasn't much distance between them so it didn't take long for the tornado to engulf Shin. As he let himself be carried around by the dark spiraling gust of wind and debris, Shin thought to himself "somehow, this doesn't feel like a big deal" the he clapped his hands and released another thundering sound that dispersed the storm and calmed things down.
But zephyr was done just yet. As soon as tornado stopped, he didn't even wait for Shin to land before sniping him with a 'dark wind bullet'. Shin flicked it away and then snapped in Zephyr's direction, and a great thundering sound paralyzed the prophet.
Then Shin walked up to the paralyzed Zephyr and picked him up by the collar of his robes.
"If you don't call your men off right now..." he said
"...I'll kill all of them"
"Then I'll go to your kingdom, and kill everyone there too"
"Those are very big words from you, young man" Zephyr said with a grin on his face.
"The attack will go on but you..."
"... your life ends here"
It didn't take long for Shin to notice the glow on Zephyr's chest and the cracks on his skin.
"This same trick again?" He thought, as he firmly grabbed Zephyr and threw him at Dune and Hopper who were close to each other.
Before they could react, the explosion was set off and the three prophets were gone in an instant.
But even though their leaders were eliminated, the remnants of the Nihon soldiers kept on attacking as if nothing significant had happened. Shin first thought it was because of their blind loyalty but when he looked into their eyes, he found a different answer.
"They are already dead" he mumbled
All this while, Shin had been wondering to himself "what kind of man would blow himself up to take down his enemy?" And the answer came to him.
A man whose actions are not of his own will, a man who has no fear or awareness of death, a man with no soul.
Shin looked into the eyes of these men and saw that the had been stripped of their souls. They were nothing but soulless husks that were made to battle.
"I have just witnessed true evil" Shin said to himself as he proceeded to put the men out of their misery.
Within a few minutes, he ended the battle and immediately started running into the city with the little strength he had left.
"Hannah!!" he yelled continuously, as he ran around with his heavy breath. He finally got home and saw that his wife was safe and he gave a sigh of relief.
"Are you ok my love?" Shin said as he ran swiftly to his wife's side. "Don't worry" he said "You're safe now" "You and our child are both safe" he said as placed his hand on her stomach. "I know you're tired from all the hard work" Hannah said. "Just rest for a while" she added as she placed Shin's head upon her laps. "By the way..." "What's with the new look?" She asked with a curious smile "Oh, this?" Shin replied "It's just temporary" "I'll be back to normal in no time" "The others still aren't back yet?" Shin asked with his eyes getting heavy "No, not yet" Hannah replied "Ugh c'mon" Shin whined as he fell asleep. By the time Shin woke up, it was already evening and everyone had returned. Kento, Hiro, Xiao, Ryu, and Lana who went beast hunting with their parents had just returned before Shin woke up. On the other hand, Mina, Rosewell, Susan and Landon arrived earlier with very important news. "They want to sink the isl
We have reached the end of the Exodus arc and are about to advance into a new arc in this tale. But before we go on, there are a few things I would like to shed more light on and hopefully help you understand the story better. This will be written in the form of a Q&A session. The questions are asked by Shiro, Mia, Yamato, Tanaka and Endo. The answers are given by Orie and Shin. "Who are the Cardinals?" Shiro asked. The Cardinals were the best of the elites trained by the Prophets. They each represent the four cardinal points of the earth and are tasked with specific duties. Apart from Hanzo the north cardinal that was mentioned, there was also Jade of the east and Genji of the west. "So that's where Genji comes in" he said. "What of the south cardinal?" He asked "There was no south cardinal after my mother" Shin answered almost immediately. "So Mina was a cardinal before she escaped?" Mia asked. "That is correct" Shin answered. "I have a question"
A few days had gone by since Orie and Shin told the tales of the past and everything was on the way to going back to normal. Shiro was back to evading the minor hits that were put on him and Mia was back to following him everywhere. Victor could finally work peacefully in his lab and Yamato went back to his restaurant job. Endo had nothing to do so he joined Yamato, and as for Tanaka... well, she had her reasons for letting him stay. Dave was back in control of his body with no memory of what happened. He knew something was missing but didn't try to figure it out because of the fears he had. He just continued his life as if nothing happened even though Shiro kept looking at him differently. Due to the damage caused when the hunters attacked, school remained closed and all the staff and students had some free time on their hands. Some went to parties, some went to games, some went on picnics, some even travelled. But Mia decided to use her time to see her father. All Orie c
"The great city of Dahüd" "It is filled with many tourist attractions but that's not what people go there for. When people travel to this great city, they are there for the life, they are there for the freedom, they are there for the action" "No one ever goes to this great city and comes back the same, there's always a story to tell" Orie said as he drove along the road "You still haven't actually told us the mission is" Shiro said out loudly "Yeah you haven't told us" Mia added. Then Orie turned around a little and said to them "Even I don't know what the mission is, all I know is that there is great urgency surrounding it" "What do you mean?" Mia asked "Is this one of your... message from the gods?" Shiro added "Something like that" Orie answered "I received a call from Dahüd saying that my presence was urgently needed. Then as I prepared to leave, the voice of the gods told me to take an army with me. That's why I'm taking you guys along, you both eac
"The great city of Dahüd is also know as the gangster's paradise. Because of its unique golden rule. 'duels are legal, standoffs are allowed, Violence is permitted as far far as there is a valid reason and death isn't a result. There are official standoff referees in every area that make sure the duels and standoffs are conducted properly' Another great thing about this great city is the king" Orie talked enthusiastically as he led through the new city they had just appeared in. "For a city with orderly violence, this place seems a little too quiet" Shiro said as he looked around the empty streets. "Yeah" Natsumi added "And my powers aren't working" As soon as Orie heard those words his eyes lit up with fear. "Those were the same words I said..." He muttered as he looked around "... when I was in the game" "We need to hide" Orie said as he motioned in the direction of a house by his right "Why?" Shiro asked in confusion "Don't ask any quest
"About two an a half decades ago, this city used to be part of the great 'Freeland'. It went by a different name that the people of today don't use anymore. The nation of Freeland was a great proponent of 'true freedom' and the leaders tried to rule with laws that were more lax than in other nations. But it didn't turn out well. Not long after it was founded, it became completely lawless and the only rule was survival of the fittest. It was a very hard time for those with no access to magic. They lived in constant fear and torment, and their standard of living was way below average. They wished fervently for a change and their prayers were answered when people's powers started going off in a part of the country. The powers of people went off irregulary. It lasted for minutes, hours, or just a few seconds but the 'revengers' risked any opportunity that came their way and struck. This started a long war in the nation. The revengers armed themselves with weapons of all so
By the time they were done setting up, more than five minutes had gone by. "Their powers have returned" Yamato said "How long until they go off again?" He asked "It's better to just wait them out and move when they are powerless" he suggested but Orie disagreed with him. "It's four hours until the next power shut down" he said "If we wait that long, we risk failing the game" "I forgot to tell you this but by the time the game began, the Metas already knew where source of their powerlessness was coming from" "This game is not espionage" "It's pure violence" "But don't worry" "It's not like bullets don't work on mages" Before anyone could say anything, Shiro and Mia darted out of the house screaming "LET'S GOOO!!" "Aren't you worried about them getting into trouble?" Natsumi asked, looking at Orie. "No, not really" Orie answered as he made his way to the door "This is a game" "The fight doesn't start until we leave this street" "and
As Orie and the others rushed forward, every Meta on the scene immediately turned their attention towards them. Majority of the Metas were fire elementals and they all had a simple pattern. First they would each shoot multiple small flames, then they would shoot big balls of flames, then they would raise their hands in unison and cause flames to rise from the ground everywhere. When the Metas fired the small flames, Orie blocked with his shield and kept running. When they shot the big balls of flames, he evaded and kept on advancing. When they caused flames to rise from the ground, he paid no attention to it and continued running until he got to one of the Metas. Then he immediately unpinned several grenades and dropped them on the floor. BOOM!!! Everyone also followed Orie and did as he did, but when they close to a Meta, they used their guns and swords to attack instead of dropping grenades at their feet and attempting suicide bombing. As they were unleashing their a
