the walls stood tall, the gates shone like the morning sun, but what surprised Mina the was the fact that Yen called it his new home.
"What do you mean?" she asked
"how can you be so sure?" she added. and Yen replied "I don't know, but I have this great feeling that I'll spend most of my days here"
"there are a lot of things I do without fully understanding them" he added
"this is one of them" he said as he threw a lightning bolt at the gate forcing it open.
Mina's expectation was for a large number of armed guards to immediately rush out and face them, but the actual response was quite calm.
the gate opened and a single person came from within. a Middle aged man stood in front of Yen and Mina asking the questions "who are you? and what is your aim here?"
"I'm a traveller." Yen answered
"and I need a place to stay" he added
"so you are the intruders H.Q was talking about" the man said as his already angry looking face began to look angrier.
"how did word get here so fast" Yen wondered
"Telecommunications" Mina answered
"What's that?" Yen asked
"They don't need run over here to get the word out, they use a device and deliver the message within seconds."
"hmmm...." Yen hummed
"that changes nothing" he said
"I expected a fight right from time" he added
"and besides, the whole idea is to take this place over"
then he turned over to the man standing at the gate and asked "what's your name sir?"
"Inumaki" the man answered
"Fuji Inumaki"
"Inumaki" Yen said smiling at him
"you can either take me to whoever's in charge here, or I can beat you up and make you do it"
normally, this kind of situation leads to an all out brawl between both parties. that's exactly what happened.
on hearing Yen's words, Inumaki was infuriated. he felt disrespected and underestimated.
"this young man does not know his place" he said in a voice that carried his full frustration. and suddenly the earth began to tremble, lightning struck and the winds became stronger. his fists were covered in flames and the intent to burn down his enemy and his rage burned just as hot.
Yen waited for Inumaki to finish his angry fuming and began evading his attacks.
there was fire,
there was lightning,
there was water and
there was wind.
the ground shook
and the earth quaked
but even all that couldn't win.
Yen was just too fast. not even Mina who was watching from a distance could following him with her eyes. at some points, he even seemed to disappear. but the most surprising part was that he had not even attacked once nor had he show any intent to do so. it took Inumaki some time to realise this but when he did, he was already subdued to the ground.
"now listen and listen carefully" Yen said as he held down the struggling Inumaki.
"you only got a glimpse of my lightning" he said
"If you don't comply with me, I'm more than willing to show you it's full power right now"
Judging from the fight, Inumaki knew that his best option was compliance. he deducted that Yen didn't even need use much lightning to cause to cause severe damage and that if he decided to use it, there probably wouldn't be anyone or anything that could withstand it. surrender was the best option.
"So what do you want?" Inumaki asked after Yen accepted his surrender and let him stand up. and Yen replied "like said before, I want a place to stay, and I also want to meet the person in charge."
"alright come with me" Inumaki said as he went ahead of them into the city.
What they saw inside blew away all their expectations. it was a city but it wasn't populated by people. instead it was populated by treasures of all kinds. every building that they walked past was a storage facility for either gold, grains or any other thing of great value. and the most surprising of it all how big the city was.
"all these riches, and the people outside still live in poverty" Mina mumbled
"what do you mean?" Inumaki asked.
"the land outside is prosperous" he said
the problem Mina had with his statement was that it was completely sincere. there was no doubt in Inumaki's mind about what he was saying.
"have you ever left this place?" Mina asked and Inumaki answered "no" and it was true. he had lived in the city for as long as he could remember. from childhood to adulthood. he never left the land of treasures because it was his job to keep it safe. all the information of the outside world that he was exposed to only showed the prosperous parts of the country and he and every other person in the city believed it. for some reason none of them ever thought of taking a walk outside.
Mina halted their advancement with the words "stop. we need to show you what it really looks like outside"
"but we're almost at our destination" Inumaki answered, and Yen gave him a stern look saying "my lightning offer is still up" and there was immediate agreement from Inumaki's side.
Yen held both Mina and Inumaki and carried them at an amazing speed to the nearest village within seconds. it took Inumaki some time to recover from the experience and as he looked forward, he saw the most horrific scene ever in his life. it was enough to make him throw up.
"how are these people even still alive in such an environment?" he asked in an agonizing tone before reaching into his pocket and bringing out a device that Mina did not recognize until he started running around the village with it.
"what is he doing?" Yen asked
"he's recording" Mina answered
"hmm...quite useful"
it didn't take long for Inumaki to stop being an agonising cameraman and come back to the group.
"this is enough evidence to show m... aaaah"
before he could finish talking, he got dragged back to where they were before in the city.
taking a deep breath and exhaling, Yen said "now let's go back to meeting the one in charge" and they continued walking after Inumaki recovered and started showing the way again.
after a few minutes of walking through tall storage buildings, they finally they finally came to a wide open space in the middle of the city. there were a few residential buildings around (mostly mansions) and at the centre, a tower stood. the tower was taller than every other building in the city and it had an architectural style that made it unique from the times. Inumaki led them to the largest and most beautiful mansion of all. and at the entrance, they were stopped. "do not proceed any further" a voice came from inside and four young men darted out ready for battle. they all had that serious look as if it was their first time having to defend the mansion. "these guys are definitely noobs" Mina whispered. "it's quite apparent" Yen whispered back. taking a deep breath, Inumaki said as calmly as he could "let us in, we have a message for the queen." but the answer was "no" "we know that you were defeated by that man" one of the young men said pointing at Yen.
"why are you defying your queen?" she yelled in desperate anger. "it is your duty to protect me, why are you refusing to do that?" "I'm not abandoning my duty" Yamato replied. "I'm just choosing to not senselessly attack a man that can end me when he just wants to talk" "so mother, if we don't to listen to him right now, we will be doing so in a charred state." "my refusal is for your own safety" meanwhile Mina was wondering "he's her son right?" and Inumaki answered her "they're all her sons, all four of them" "isn't she supposed to protect them?,not the other way round?" Mina asked, and it became clear to her that no one there understood how family works because Inumaki didn't have an answer to her question. "what of the father?" she asked, and Inumaki answered "he is no longer with us" and Mina sighed and said out loud in frustration "these guys are bred like ants" and everyone heard it. the one who took offence to the comment was none other than the
as they all stood in a daze watching the missiles fly through the air, Yen thought to himself "before my descent, I heard a name called out loudly. I believe it to be the name of my father, the one who made me and has been directing my path. I believe to be a name that is called in the time of need. and I believe it is the name I should call now" and with all the power in his breath, he yelled "AMADIOHA!!!" and from the clear afternoon sky, lightning fell into his right hand which he had raised up and it was overflowing with energy. he swung the hand forward and a huge amount of lightning came out and formed a blanket above all of the villages, causing all the missiles to explode midair. it was a sight to behold. everyone that saw it stood in awe, not just at the power but also at the beauty. it was truly magnificent. after being amazed, Mina and the others made their way to the nearest village to try and warn them about the coming dangers and to also convince them to make t
the speech was a success. Mina took advantage of the fact that most of villagers were young people that didn't have a solidified belief in the words of the order. by Mina's intuition, it was speculated that the reason why there weren't any actual elders in the villages was because of the wisdom and influence that came with age. If an elder questioned the order of things, a lot of young people would join him in it. so it was very possible that the elders were replaced with well programmed androids because if the elders didn't question, the young ones wouldn't be motivated to do so. and according to Mina's experience in her travels, the process of replacing elders would have continued until elders didn't need to be replaced and everyone followed the words of the order as if it was ingrained in them by nature. Uzo's village was an example of a huge success. every of the order's will was done naturally by the people. only the order knew how long it took them achieve that but one thi
"the sensation filled my lips and my tongue then went straight into my head. then I felt it pass through every nerve in my body and settle at my heart. the electrifying feeling was something out this world. It was the feeling of love and its power." The two lovebirds were still kissing even after the battle had begun. Kojiro stood back to protect them within his barrier while the others proceeded to mow down the enemy. All of Mina's assertions were on point. the robot army that charged at them was powerful. their punches were fast, precise, and it felt as if one would instantly die if he got hit by them. the way they moved was awfully machine-like and one could understand why they didn't use handheld weapons after seeing the amount of blades they could eject from different parts of their bodies. but despite the the intimidating features these things had, the only problem that Inumaki and his boys had was the problem of numbers. their metal bodies were no problem for
"Don't you ever call me that again" Mina said angrily "I am no longer under your authority, and I was never your daughter" "I have transversed the oceans of the earth. I have survived the cruelty of nature. I have done things that even you deemed impossible. So when you talk to me, don't treat me like I'm the little girl you once knew" "PUT SOME RESPECT ON MY NAME!!!" "That was a nice speech" Albus said as he stroked his grey beard "But do you have the strength to prove it?" he said as pure white flames began to form behind him. He raised his hand and pointed to Mina and all the flames shot in her direction. The flames exploded on impact with high intensity and the shockwaves reached very far. The brightness of the explosion was blinding and the heat was of one that could burn steel. But after the explosion calmed down and the smoke cleared, Mina and Yen stood within the resulting crater unharmed. They stood within a dense lightning barrier and watched A
"RAIKEN!!!" Mina yelled as she punched Albus in the face with a fist covered in lightning and sent him flying. She did not wait for him to land before launching her next attack with a bolt lightning and immediately after that, she rushed towards him and began a barrage of attacks moving faster than the speed a normal eye could follow. Each attack was faster and stronger than the former. Mina didn't leave any opening for Albus so he created one for himself. Mina was about launch her next attack when she found herself evading another concentrated flame. It didn't come from Albus' direction but from behind and she look back, she saw a whole lot of light balls. Mina already knew the next action to take... run. With all her might Mina fled the area before the barrage flames rained on her and Yen was waiting where she stopped. "Need my help now?" Yen asked "Nahh, I just need a weapon" she replied "Well our swords didn't survive the rampage, you have a crossbow th
Mina woke up in Yen's arms on the back of a moving open-roofed pick up truck. "Where are we headed?" She asked, looking up at Yen "We are going back to the fortress" Yen replied. "Don't worry just rest" "We'll be there in no time" "In the mean time, you need to recover your energy" Although Mina didn't fully understand the situation, she trusted Yen and closed her eyes to sleep. She was too tired to ask about the truck, or who the two people in the front were and how they found them. She had a lot of questions she wanted to ask but she needed to sleep more than anything so despite the bumpy ride, she slept soundly throughout the journey. The first thing Mina saw as she opened her eyes for the second time was the walls of the fortress. Once again, she woke up in Yen's arms but there was no truck, just the two people in front. "Who are they?" She asked with the tone of an exhausted person and one of them turned back to answer. "I am Lee Shuan Gou" h
From within the circle came forth a huge bird of prey; a hawk. It appeard to be fully covered in silver. Just by looking at it, one could tell that its beak was harder than a rock and that its claws were as sharp as blades, even its wings didn't seem flying was all they could do. At this point in the battle where pride was being cast aside, the same thought ran through the minds of everyone watching. "NOW THE REAL FIGHT BEGINS" "Go" at this command from Chris, the bird threw itself at Orie with incredible speed. Orie evaded the bird without problem but what came next was quite challenging. After evading an attack from above he found himself facing one from below. Not many can escape such attacks from Chris. He would use the bird to make his opponents dodge in a certain manner, then he would go in for the real attack when their balance had been compromised. It was quite an effective move, but just not for Orie. "How is this possible?" Chris thought to himself as h
"This is my day" "This is my day" "This is my day" It kept repeating but Natsumi could not understand what it meant" "This is my day" She knew she had forgotten something "This is my day" She was sure she had forgotten something "This is my day" Something that would help her discern the situation. "This is my day" It stopped as soon as she realized what it meant. She remembered that when she thought it was Orie's birthday, he had told her these words. She remembered how he told her of the four market days of his tribe and that he shared his name with one of them. She remembered that he told her how the days affected his power, and this made her the least surprised person among the audience when Orie got back up on his feet. "WHAT... THE... F***!!!!?" Ellie screamed at the camera "How much blood does this guy have?" "He's lost so much yet he is still standing" "What kind of immortal dragon sh** is this" "This is not easy to believ
Chris Vanadium. The only reason he didn't make it to the finals as much as Cal was that he faced Waramaki in most of the semifinals. He is one of the few people that have been able to beat Cal in the previous tournaments. He is also a one time champion and the one he beat to earn that title was none other than Fuji Waramaki. There were many reasons to fear him, but most feared attribute of his was the speed of his blade. Yes, he fights with a sword and he is really good with it; so good that a large percentage of his matches end in less than a minute. Anyone that saw his previous match was immediately reminded of how dangerous he was, even some that had faith in Orie in the previous match lost it for this one. To sum things up on how dangerous he was, the chance of him making it to the final match of the current tournament was ninety-nine percent. Though Orie's match was the first of round one, in round two, his match was the third. Not many had high hopes for this match beca
There was complete silence in all parts of the stadium. It wasn't that people had nothing to say but what could they say that could explain what just happened before their eyes? They just watched as the referee ran in to confirm the outcome. It took longer than usual as the referee also had his doubts but in the end he had no choice but to declare Cal unable to continue. The silence broke immediately he stood up to declare Orie the winner. The doubt of many began to flow out in words. "IT'S A LIE!!" "THIS IS BULLSHIT!!" "THIS GAME IS RIGGED!!" There was no word of doubt that was not spoken at that moment. Even when the medics came out to put Cal on a stretcher, people still thought it was an act. What could Orie do? He had just won a match and no one believed it. There was hardly anyone cheering for him, all the loud voices expressed nothing but doubt, hate, and disbelief. Despite all the hate he was getting, he just cracked a smile and walked out of the arena
You never truly appreciate a miracle unless you heard of it before it happened. That moment when the thing you thought was just too impossible begins to unfold before you for the very first time. There is no look more precious than that of one who has had such experience. Miracles happen only once. After that, it becomes a possibility. Cal and Orie were initially rated on a seven to one ratio. This meant that the officials of this tournament believed that Cal was at least seven times more powe6r than Orie and seven times more likely to win. At the current time the ratio had become ten to one. It seemed hopeless for the few that had put their faith in Orie. The match wasn't over but the situation made them feel the winner was already decided. "What is he doing in there?" "Does he have a death wish?" "Just give up already!!"even some of those that were on his opponent's side felt pity for him but Orie was not one to dwell on pity. He could not hear their words, al
"Ellie Porter here" "Live from the inside of the stadium and best seat in the house" "The starting buzzer for the match has been sounded but neither of the contenders have moved from their starting positions" "Cal is taking his time to charge up his power but we have no idea why Orie hasn't moved yet" "I still stand on my support for him but he has done what the rest of the world consider to be the greatest mistake in the history of this tournament" Ellie was right. Everyone that won against Cal in the previous tournament was powerful but that wasn't the only reason they won; they were able to win because they stopped him from charging up properly. The last person that let him charge up fully got knocked out in one hit and that was the expectation most of the crowd had for Orie. Soon, Cal had finished charging up. One could tell by the steam-like aura that could be seen emanating from his body. He got ready to move as the cheering of the crowd got louder; he was con
Just in case you were wondering where the fight was happening, the SHIN SEKAI company built a large stadium in the middle of the island where all roads cross. It was not exactly a hard place to find; in fact it was the most findable place in all of the island. The city was crowded with people from all over the world who were there for many different reasons. With the exception of those that came to spectate the matches, the most common visitors to this event were scouts and reporters. The tournament may not do much for the teachers, but it had the power to determine the future of the students that participated. "Ellie Porter here, reporting live from stadium one" a woman spoke with a clear voice as she stood with a microphone in front of a camera man. "As you can see, people from all over the world have come to witness the first match of the new world tournament" "This tournament was first introduced thirteen years ago on the same year that the school was built"
The new world tournament was one unique tournament. Despite the fact that it was held by a school and it's participants were staff and students, it still managed to draw worldwide attention. One contributing factor to this could be that the Shin-sekai academy was a prestigious school and was attended by the children of many of the world's elites but the major factor was that it proved to be more entertaining than many others in the world. The structure of the tournament was divided. The teachers' tournament took place first then the students' came after. After winners had been decided from both sides, the two winners would then have a face off. The winner of the previous teacher's tournament was Fuji Waramaki who had remained undefeated for five years. He also won all the face-offs with the student champions. The teachers tournament was full of old faces and the only two new faces in the tournament were Orie and Natsumi. Not many expected a different result from the teach
"The breeze in the west shall become the storm in the east" "It shall become a powerful force in the north" "And a sight of awe in the south" "And when it returns to the west..." "It shall be unstoppable" "My dear boy, Andrew Clipper" "These are not mere words" "This is your story" On hearing this, Andrew opened his eyes. He was on his knees and Orie stood beside him, placing a hand on his head. The room was dark and was lit by seven candles, and there was no one else in the room with them. Though all the doors and windows in the room were closed an intense wind blew within it. Gradually, the wind got stronger and blew ferociously around the empty room. It was strange that the seven candles didn't go off. "You are a storm that will sweep through all" "A wind that can move lands" "A reckoning force of greatness" "An unbreakable wind" "That, is what you are" Shiro was waiting for them outside the room. Throughout his the time he was wa
