Yen laid unconscious with almost no breath in his lungs, his pulse was so little that it could barely be felt. His heart beat as if it was about to give up, and his body was so cold that he could be declared dead.
But Mina had no time to grieve over Yen's condition. As she knelt beside him crying, a scout came to report that a large army had been spotted outside the city walls. She immediately stood up and left the room saying ,"let's go pay them back" as she wiped her tears.
Mina made her way to the military assembly ground and called out "STORM RIDERS!!!" And in a matter of seconds, her entire unit was assembled. They numbered about one-thousand with fifty-five elites and all were ready for battle.
The others also assembled their own units and got ready to march out into battle. Inumaki with his 'ground breakers', Lee with his 'shuan-gou' unit, Susan with the rescue team, and Yamato with the king's army.
Rosewell refused to lead any unit. He just wanted to run into the battlefield and rampage until he he felt consolation for his son, "I won't stop until my little Liam is at peace" he said as he ran straight into the warzone and started causing havoc.
Inumaki's ground breakers followed right behind him and unleashed thier joint eruption technique "WRATH OF THE STONE GOD" and caused every part of the battlefield to tremble. They kept the technique going by placing their hands on the ground and pouring their energy into it and the more they focused, the more intense the tremors got and soon the ground began to swallow some of their enemies. Immediately after that they unleashed another joint technique "GRAND ERUPTION!!" and from within the cracks in the ground, hot molten lava began to pour out in excess and began to burn and impede the progression of the enemies.
As the lava cooled down, the ground breakers fell back and the shuan-gou unit advanced forward and joined Rosewell in the midst of the battle. The king's army followed them from the sides while the storm riders and the rescue unit remained on standby.
Things were going smoothly for the army of Yamato but as usual, the enemy forces had an overwhelming advantage in numbers. The shuan-gou unit were getting pushed back and casualty reports started coming in. Fifteen dead, thirty-six with severe injuries, a hundred and fifty with minor injuries and rest had a few scratches. It wasn't that serious yet but the numbers were bound to increase.
Susan and her rescue team deployed into the battlefield to help treat the injured and take them out of the fight. They were swift and smooth as they moved in and out of the battlefield, rescuing their injured comrades.
Mina and her unit remained on standby waiting for 'the right moment'.
"So when do we deploy, boss" one of her elites asked.
"I'll give the command" she said without even looking at him, and he took a step back.
Soon the moment she was waiting for came and she got ready to deploy.
As she looked far into the distance, she saw a second horde approaching with Albus leading the charge.
She reached into her pocket and brought out a circular device that fit just right in palm of her hand and spoke into it.
"E.V.A. activate" she said, and the device glowed with a bright blue pattern. Then she placed it on her back and the device attached itself to her and her eyes glowed blue.
Mina looked at the elite beside her and noticed that he was trembling and breathing heavily.
"Are you nervous?" She asked and he replied "yes"
"What is your name?" She asked and he answered "Clyde"
"Alright Clyde" she said
"I know that the second army approaching is a real army of men and that none of you have ever killed a man before, but take my advice."
"Set your conscience aside in this battle, because your enemies come with none."
"Now my soldiers" Mina said out loudly
"SUMMON YOUR MOUNTS!!" and they all did
"SET FORMATION!!" And they paired themselves into smaller units of two, one lightning and one wind. Mina stood alone with the cute chubby sky rabbit as her companion.
"STORM RIDERS!!!" she called out
"CHAARRRRGE!!!" she yelled at the top of her voice and at her command, the entire unit ran through the battlefield destroying every enemy in their path
In a matter of seconds they made their way through the first battalion and into the huge gap that separated them from the second battalion. Immediately, they switched formation and all the wind users gathered in front and unleashed a joint attack.
"AIR WAVE!!!" they yelled as they motioned their hands and caused a great wind to blow away the enemies in front of them, and as their enemies stood stunned by the attack, they went for the slaughter.
It wasn't an easy battle but it wasn't hard either. As usual the enemy had an overwhelming number but that was equalled by skills of the Storm riders. The only hard one to beat was Albus, and they all left him for Mina.
As soon as Albus saw Mina, he immediately ran to give her his greetings along with a few flaming hot fireballs.
"I see you came to die again." Mina said to Albus after she had evaded all his attacks. Before Albus could reply, she immediately closed the distance between them and engaged him in a solid snake-like close quarter combat.
Albus was powerful but hand-to-hand wasn't his forte. Before he could properly react, Mina had already gotten some major hits in. He managed to create some distance between them and get back his focus but as soon as he did that, Mina brought out her crossbow and shot at him. He managed to evade the shot but Mina immediately closed the distance between them again and got a few more hits in before he pushed her back with his flames.
"This would have been way easier if I had Yen with me" Mina said under a heavy breath.
"Well, I'll just have to manage with what Susan gave me"
"E.V.A" she said as she drew out her sword
"OVERDRIVE!!"
Albus noticed the sudden change in the atmosphere and knew that something big was coming. He immediately set up a thick wall of flames around himself but even that couldn't stop Mina.
Mina's movement could not be followed. She wasn't too fast see but she was too fast to predict. every movement she made sent Albus' sense of judgement into disarray and threw him off focus but even with that, she couldn't land a finishing blow. Every time she got close enough, Albus would unleash a wide range attack in all directions and cause her to fall back. The arrows she shot with her crossbow had an effect but they were quickly depleted.
Another of Mina's problems was that she was running out of energy. Even though she had the upper hand at the moment, she knew that things wouldn't go well for her within the next few minutes and that if she wanted to prevent the worst from happening, she would have to kill Albus within a short time.
Mina looked down into the ground as she knew and took deep breath, then she's looked up and saw that everything was moving slowly. Soon, she noticed that her heart rate had increased and all the fatigue was disappearing from her body.
"I know this feeling." She said as tears ran down her cheeks and she smiled and turned back to see Yen walking majestically towards her.
Yen walked up to Mina and said to her "let me give you a hand." as he kissed her forehead. Then he took a few steps forward and snapped his fingers, releasing a strong electromagnetic pulse throughout the battlefield and causing every machinery to stop functioning. Then he set his gaze upon Albus and his killing intent was felt by many. He walked slowly towards Albus who was backing away in fear. "That was a nice exploding act you performed earlier" Yen said as he continued walking. His eyes were fully sparking with lightning and so was the entirety of his body. The Sparks of lightning were so intense that every step he took left burn marks on the ground as he walked. "You're supposed to be dead" Albus said in a horrified tone as he continued to back away. "HOW THE HELL ARE YOU STILL ALIVE!!" he yelled as he turned and started running. Yen followed right behind him, repeating the words "why are you running?" "Why are you running?" "Why are you running?" "Wh
"Let the air bear witness" "Let the earth bear witness" "Let the sun bear witness" "Let the morning bear witness" "On this sacred day" "We bind our lives" "By flesh and blood" "By mind and soul" "By life and death" "One shall not depart without the other" "If one departs, the other shall follow" "We seal this bond with the power of death himself" "It cannot be shaken" "It can never be broken" As soon as Hanzo and Jade recited this spell, they were bound for life. If one of them was to die the other would follow immediately. Even though they worked for the order where romance was highly prohibited and punishable by.... well no one knows exactly what happens to those who get caught except for the fact that they were never seen again, these two lovebirds were still brave enough to perform such an act. "So what now?" Jade asked "We're now bound death but we are being separated in life" she lamented "I know you're worried but you have to calm down" Hanzo sai
"I always wanted to be a hero. I wanted to be the one that everyone could put their faith in no matter the situation. I wanted them to have no fear as long as I was around." "But here I lay. Alone, waiting for my strength to return while the enemy slays my people." "I feel helpless" "I feel weak" "I feel pain" Shin lamented as he laid on the ground unable to make a move. Tear flowed out of his eyes as he looked up into the sky. Then suddenly, a voice came to him saying "Get up!' "But I can't" Shin replied "Get up you foolish son of mine" the voice said again "There is no weakness In you" "The numbness in your feet is a lie" "The fear in your heart is an illusion" "The pain you feel does not exist" "So get up" "Get up, oh son of grace" "Get up and fight" "Let them feel your power" "LET THEM HEAR THE THUNDER!!" Suddenly, Shin no longer felt any pain in his body. His breathing was fine, his movements were perfect.
"Are you ok my love?" Shin said as he ran swiftly to his wife's side. "Don't worry" he said "You're safe now" "You and our child are both safe" he said as placed his hand on her stomach. "I know you're tired from all the hard work" Hannah said. "Just rest for a while" she added as she placed Shin's head upon her laps. "By the way..." "What's with the new look?" She asked with a curious smile "Oh, this?" Shin replied "It's just temporary" "I'll be back to normal in no time" "The others still aren't back yet?" Shin asked with his eyes getting heavy "No, not yet" Hannah replied "Ugh c'mon" Shin whined as he fell asleep. By the time Shin woke up, it was already evening and everyone had returned. Kento, Hiro, Xiao, Ryu, and Lana who went beast hunting with their parents had just returned before Shin woke up. On the other hand, Mina, Rosewell, Susan and Landon arrived earlier with very important news. "They want to sink the isl
We have reached the end of the Exodus arc and are about to advance into a new arc in this tale. But before we go on, there are a few things I would like to shed more light on and hopefully help you understand the story better. This will be written in the form of a Q&A session. The questions are asked by Shiro, Mia, Yamato, Tanaka and Endo. The answers are given by Orie and Shin. "Who are the Cardinals?" Shiro asked. The Cardinals were the best of the elites trained by the Prophets. They each represent the four cardinal points of the earth and are tasked with specific duties. Apart from Hanzo the north cardinal that was mentioned, there was also Jade of the east and Genji of the west. "So that's where Genji comes in" he said. "What of the south cardinal?" He asked "There was no south cardinal after my mother" Shin answered almost immediately. "So Mina was a cardinal before she escaped?" Mia asked. "That is correct" Shin answered. "I have a question"
A few days had gone by since Orie and Shin told the tales of the past and everything was on the way to going back to normal. Shiro was back to evading the minor hits that were put on him and Mia was back to following him everywhere. Victor could finally work peacefully in his lab and Yamato went back to his restaurant job. Endo had nothing to do so he joined Yamato, and as for Tanaka... well, she had her reasons for letting him stay. Dave was back in control of his body with no memory of what happened. He knew something was missing but didn't try to figure it out because of the fears he had. He just continued his life as if nothing happened even though Shiro kept looking at him differently. Due to the damage caused when the hunters attacked, school remained closed and all the staff and students had some free time on their hands. Some went to parties, some went to games, some went on picnics, some even travelled. But Mia decided to use her time to see her father. All Orie c
"The great city of Dahüd" "It is filled with many tourist attractions but that's not what people go there for. When people travel to this great city, they are there for the life, they are there for the freedom, they are there for the action" "No one ever goes to this great city and comes back the same, there's always a story to tell" Orie said as he drove along the road "You still haven't actually told us the mission is" Shiro said out loudly "Yeah you haven't told us" Mia added. Then Orie turned around a little and said to them "Even I don't know what the mission is, all I know is that there is great urgency surrounding it" "What do you mean?" Mia asked "Is this one of your... message from the gods?" Shiro added "Something like that" Orie answered "I received a call from Dahüd saying that my presence was urgently needed. Then as I prepared to leave, the voice of the gods told me to take an army with me. That's why I'm taking you guys along, you both eac
"The great city of Dahüd is also know as the gangster's paradise. Because of its unique golden rule. 'duels are legal, standoffs are allowed, Violence is permitted as far far as there is a valid reason and death isn't a result. There are official standoff referees in every area that make sure the duels and standoffs are conducted properly' Another great thing about this great city is the king" Orie talked enthusiastically as he led through the new city they had just appeared in. "For a city with orderly violence, this place seems a little too quiet" Shiro said as he looked around the empty streets. "Yeah" Natsumi added "And my powers aren't working" As soon as Orie heard those words his eyes lit up with fear. "Those were the same words I said..." He muttered as he looked around "... when I was in the game" "We need to hide" Orie said as he motioned in the direction of a house by his right "Why?" Shiro asked in confusion "Don't ask any quest
