Lady Stiora could not contain her worry and concern for Lord Mordian. With a heavy heart, she pulled him aside into a private alcove, away from prying eyes, where she could speak her mind.

"My love," she pleaded, her eyes filled with tears, "I implore you to reconsider joining your nephew in this perilous journey. We have just found each other, and our love is still young and tender. I cannot bear the thought of losing you to the ravages of war."

Lord Mordian gently cupped her face, wiping away a tear with his thumb. "I understand your fears, Stiora, but this is something I must do," he said softly. "Defending Bauthinia, my homeland, is my duty and honor. I have longed for this opportunity since I first laid hands on a sword."

Stiora's voice trembled as she clung to him, her heart torn between her love for him and her fear of losing him. "But is there no other way? Can you not hide, go into exile, anything to avoid the dangers that await you in battle?" she pleaded.
