Archie stood rooted to the spot, his gaze fixed on the imposing figure before him. After everything he had endured in the recent days, nothing seemed to surprise him anymore.
“Please, get in,” the man commanded, gesturing towards the black van parked nearby. Archie’s eyes flickered towards the vehicle, noting the three other men dressed in identical suits seated within its confines.
He broke into a maniac laugh then shook his head, “No way, man. I’m not getting in there.”
But the hefty man remained unfazed, his steely gaze boring into Archie’s with unwavering intensity. Goosebumps prickled along Archie’s skin, a sudden sense of unease settling over him so he did the first thing that came to mind.
He turned to his heels but before Archie could escape, the man’s strong grip closed around his arm, dragging him towards the waiting van. With a swift motion, Archie found himself being bundled into the vehicle, the door slammed shut behind him before he could protest.
After many hours of bickering and wrestling with the men. The vehicle glided into the estate and Archie was allowed to step out willingly. He was furious, about to throw a fit when his eyes adjusted to the scenery before him. His eyes widening in disbelief at the sight before him.
A magnificent mansion loomed before him, its pristine white exterior adorned with gilded accents that caught the sunlight. At the center, A grand fountain bubbled with its crystalline water.
Speechless, Archie followed the guard as he led him towards the ornate entrance. Every inch of the mansion exuded opulence and luxury, nothing like he had ever seen before.
“He would be with you in a minute” he said respectfully “Would you like anything while you wait?”
“No!” Archie said at once, as if snapping out of a trance. “You better get your manager or whoever that is responsible for this, cause I’m pressing charges the moment I get out of here.”
For the first time, he saw the man’s lips curve into a smile. “Of course.”
Archie felt insulted as he watched the man leave, without another word. His mind swirled with unanswered questions as he paced round the office.
His attention was suddenly drawn to a brown folder resting on the desk, his name was boldly written across the front. Unable to resist, Archie hesitantly opened the folder, his eyes widening in disbelief as he scanned through its contents.
His heart pounded in his chest, threatening to explode. He felt the walls spin around him.
Before he could process the information, the door swung open. A man stepped into the office, clad in a dark blue suit, his presence exuded an air of authority.
His silver eyes met with a replica of his and a smile found its way to his wrinkled face. “Archie”
He breathed a sigh of relief, a tear threatening to break through his confident demeanor. He stepped forward.
“My son.”
Archie took a step back, he fumbled for words but it came in silence.
Marshall’s expression softened, his eyes filled with a profound sadness. “I understand that this is a lot to take in-” he began
“What sort of sick joke is this?”
“Archie,” the man picked the folder from the table and stretched it out to him. “These are the documents, the DNA tests are undeniable evidence. I am your father.”
Archie slapped the folder from his hand. The guard stationed by the entrance tensed. He edged forward with his hand inching towards his pocket. Marshall quickly raised a hand, motioning for him to stand down.
“Take your fabricated lies with you,” Archie lashed out. His mind spun with confusion, his voice trembling with sinking emotions. “I...I don’t even know how to process this.”
Yet, as he reflected on the documents he had glimpsed earlier, the weight of the evidence settled heavily upon him. Adoption papers, birth certificates, marriage certificates—all contained within a single folder, revealing so much truth.
So many truths that he felt like his life was a lie.
“If this is true, then where were you when I was born? Where was my mother? Why did both of you abandon me?”
Marshall took a deep breath and sank into a cushioned seat. “It’s a long story” he gestured for Archie to take a seat before proceeding. “My parents were against me and Martha’s marriage. They threatened her and she ran away. I had no idea, that she was pregnant until-”
“Until now... Now, when I may be finally of use to you, isn’t it?”
“What!”
“That’s all it is for you rich folks.” Archie glared at his father with so much resentment. His heart sank as he recalled memories from his school. His voice went into a low whisper. “There’s no affection for you people. It’s only business and exploitation.”
“Archie” his father placed a comforting hand on his son. “I had only discovered the truth when my parents passed away. I would have never abandoned you, you’re all I have left of Martha”
Archie noticed the emotions flickering in his father’s eyes as he mentioned his wife. For a moment, he felt sympathy for the man until a surge of uncertainty washed over him. Quickly, he withdrew his hand from his father’s.
“I understand how you feel, I’ll give you time to process it” With that, Marshall retrieved a card from his drawer and slid it across the table. “There’s no limit, use this to settle your bills”
The express black card laid in front of him, but he glared at it with reluctance. “If this is your bribe, I’m not having it.”
“It’s compensation, this is only a tiny fraction of what I owe you.” He straightened his posture and locked eyes with his son. “Very soon, all that is mine will be yours....You’re the rightful heir to my assets.”
Archie arrived home to the familiar sounds of his mother bustling about in the kitchen, the clinking of utensils and the rhythmic chopping of vegetables filling the air. Grace was in the midst of a phone call, her voice animated as she multitasked, whipping up a meal with practiced ease. But as soon as she caught sight of Archie, her phone slipped from her grasp, forgotten, as she stood frozen in shock.“Hey, mom”Hurrying over to him, her hands reached out to cup his face, her touch gentle yet urgent. “Archie, what happened to your face?” she exclaimed, her eyes scanning his bruises with concern. Archie watched as his mother enveloped him in a warm embrace, her worry palpable in the way she held him close. Despite everything he had been through, all he needed in that moment was the comforting presence of his mother.A small smile tugged at his split lips as he soaked in the warmth of her embrace. Grace might not be his biological mother, but she had filled the role of a mother with
Ashley seethed with fury as he watched the interaction between the two of them, but he held his tongue, opting not to respond.“Come on, let’s go,” he muttered to his friends, gesturing for them to follow him as he stormed past them.Just as he turned away, Archie caught his gaze, and Ash made a threatening gesture, dragging his finger across his throat.“Ignore him,” Bailey said, her voice calm but firm, redirecting Archie’s attention back to her.“People like this are pretty hard to shake off,” Archie remarked, his gaze drifting thoughtfully to his notes. “You can ignore them all you like, but that only gives them more reasons to bother you.”“Well, that’s not how it works over here,” Bailey countered.“Oh, really?” Archie retorted. “Well, I tried ignoring them and I earned a free facial massage as a reward.” Bailey burst into an infectious laugh, her brown hair falling and brushing against her face. She held her both sides as she started to wheeze.“I like you. What’s your name?”
Bae’s eyes twinkled with amusement as she watched Archie approach their table, his focus solely on balancing the two steaming cups of coffee. There was a certain charm in his concentration, a kind of authenticity that drew her to him.He wasn’t like the rest. He was more...normal.“He’s hot,” A girl remarked, her eyes lingering on Archie with obvious interest. Her moment of quiet observation was interrupted by the sudden intrusion of a redhead from across the booth. Bae’s attention snapped to the girl, her initial admiration for Archie melted away as she quickly composed herself, her voice taking on a casual tone. “Maybe, I don’t know.” she replied with a slight shrug. The redhead pressed on, undeterred by Bae’s nonchalant response. “Does he have a girlfriend?” “I don’t know...” Bailey’s voice trailed, she had just realized that she knew nothing about his personal life. It had been a week already and she was the least proud to admit that she still called him ‘newbie.’“Incoming.”
As the sun dipped low in the sky, the air buzzed with anticipation. Spectators quickly filled the stands, their voices blending into a steady hum of excitement. Bailey took her seat among the crowd, her eyes fixed on the field below. “I pity him,” one of the cheerleaders suddenly chimed in, her voice cutting through the buzz of the crowd. She beckoned to the rest of the squad, her tone laced with certainty. “Ash is definitely going to pound the new guyBailey ignored her mates, she remained silent, her gaze unwavering as she watched Archie with hopeful anticipation. On the field, Archie and Ash stood facing each other, both cladded in uniform. Their eyes locked in a fierce rivalry. Tension crackled in the air as they waited for the next whistle. As the referee’s whistle pierced the air, the match sprang into action. Ash wasted no time, swiftly grabbing the ball and darting across the field with lightning speed. His teammates rallied around him, creating a wall of defense that Archie
“Ow,” Archie winced. They were both seated in an empty classroom, his chair mere inches away from Bailey’s.“Stop overreacting, it isn’t that serious.” Bailey dipped a cotton swab in ointment before applying it on the wound. He narrowed his eyes at her, but she giggled. “You were amazing, though.” She added, wrapping a bandage around his knee. “I’ve never sat that long for a match in my entire life.”“You’re welcome” he nodded in acknowledgement as he watched her carefully tend to his wound. “You’re good at this, who knows, maybe med school is your calling.”“Well, I did apply,” she shrugged. “But my parents were against it.”“Why?”She forced a fake smile. “I’m the only child. There’s no one else to take over the family business other than me. I bet they just can’t wait to marry me off.” She rolled her eyes dramatically.“Then why don’t you simply say no.” Archie suggested.“It’s complicated.” Their eyes locked, her hands gently massaging the bandage. “You can’t just say no to famil
“Archie,” Marshall exclaimed with joy upon spotting his son near the office. “I almost didn’t think you would make it.”As Archie approached, his eyes landed on another figure lounging in a chair. His expression faltered. “I see you’ve met your brother. This is Leon. Leon, meet your long-lost brother, Archie.”“Yeah, I know who he is,” Leon retorted, rolling his eyes. He rose from his seat and strode toward his younger brother, emanating a strong aura that sent shivers down Archie’s spine.Leon extended his hand, and Archie reluctantly accepted it. “Nice to finally meet you,” Leon said, his accent revealing a blend of various foreign influences, hinting at his diverse upbringing. After a moment of lingering eye contact, Leon withdrew his hand. “Well, I’ll catch you lots later.”“What do you mean? We have a family dinner this evening,” Marshall interjected.“As much as I’d love to attend that awkward reunion, I have somewhere else to be,” Leon replied. He took a curt, mocking bow and t
Archie was wondering what Ryder meant by what he said but was interrupted by his father descending the stairs with a smile.Marshall beamed at his son who was standing with Ryder. There was nothing that was stopping him from making Ryder go back to school. Maybe now that Archie was around, Ryder would be more serious. "He's not the problem, son. I didn't see that you were committed enough. If I see you showing interest in the things that matter, I will make you return to school."Archie noticed the strain between both father and son. So he decided to exempt himself from the situation. "It was great spending time with you however, it's getting late and I have to run," Archie said and they didn't say anything. "Thank you for dinner." He added before turning away. "Thank you too."Archie nodded carefully before turning away. "No, not so fast," Marshall replied swiftly and he turned towards his father."I'm sorry?""You can't just leave, Marcel will take you home.""I don't mind...""I
Ralph stuttered when he saw the video of him kneeling with a guy. It was the most embarrassing secret of his that he didn't want his wife to know. "W-where the hell did you see that?" He stuttered and rushed to seize the phone from Archie but was stopped as Archie dodged. "I don't know... Maybe, I should just show your lovely wife. Her name is Mrs. Laurie right?" Ralph's eyes grew red as he wondered how this young boy had managed to see him. "how do I know that you didn't Photoshop it?" "Oh, really? Do you think that I photoshopped it? Well, I will still send you more, and also give your wife the contact of the man, and let's see if she would think that it was photoshopped." Ralph pinched the bridge of his nose in anger, "I don't know what you want, you're just s bastard who is trying to play smart but I assure you that it won't work on me. You will regret ever doing this and I don't even mind." Archie shook his head, "I don't know about you but all I want is very simple, apolog
